a. Placetheoaronthepitchcheckwiththebladeface
downonthepitchinghead.Thetipoftheblademust
contactthestop,andtheshaftmustbeparalleltothe
rail.Aneasywaytocheckthisistosightdowntheshaft
fromthehandleendandnotethatthestopforthetip
ofthebladeisalignedwiththeshaft.SeephotoE.
b. Placethelevelacrossthewearsurfacesofthesleeve.

Ifusingadigitallevelyoucanreadthepitchoftheoar
directlyfromthelevel.Ifyouhaveabubbleleveland
thebubbleiscentered,thepitchoftheoariszero.Ifthe
bubbleisnotcentered,youcanmeasurethepitchmore
accuratelybyplacingangledwedgesundertheleveluntil
thelevelreadsasclosetothecenteraspossible.The
pitchisthentheangleofthatwedge.Angledwedgesare
availableseperatelyfromConcept2.

recommendwithconfidence.Ifyoudouseadigitallevel,
checkitfrequentlyastheycangiveerroneousreadings,
settleslowly,andmaynotbeaccurateatotherthan

pitchplateontheheadofthepitchcheckasshown.The
portorstarboardindicatorontheplateshouldfacethe
handleoftheoar.ProceedasaboveforSMOOTHIE2,87
andMACONblade.
ADJUSTING PITCH
Ifthepitchisoffbylessthanadegreefromthedesired
value,youcancorrectthepitchbyshavingorsanding
materialfromthehighsideofthewearsurfaceonthe
sleeve.SeephotoG.Acabinetscraperworkswellforthis.
Ifthepitchisoffbymorethanadegreefromthedesired
value,youwillprobablyneedtoreplacethesleeveandthe
gluethatbondsthesleevetotheshaft.Seetheseparate
instructionsforreplacingsleeves.
