1 INTRODUCTION
This use and maintenance manual refers to the machine and to the range of machine mentioned
in the casing. It represents your guide to the compressor installation, use and maintenance you
have purchased. The use and maintenance manual is always to be kept in a safe place and
easily accesible. The manual is an integrant part of the compressor.
1.1 RECEIVING THE MACHINE DOCUMENTS
When the machine is delivered, (within the EU), you will receive:
•Use and maintenance manual.
•CE conformity mark on the machine.
•CE declaration of conformity.
When the machine is delivered, check that the product is intact, and that everything is as per
contract. Dispose of the possibile packing material according to the laws in force.
1.2 FIELD OF APPLICATION
The compressor with piston alternate group was designed and built only to produce compres-
sed air.
Do not use the machine for differenr purposes, from those the machine has
been designed for.
1.3 DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
The machine described in this service and maintenance book is a compressor with a piston
alternate group and with belt drive. There are different versions: with or without air tank, with or
without dryer.
1.4 IDENTIFICATION
In order to identificate the machine during the request of spare parts or assistance, it is always
necessary to refer to the machine data on the plate with CE mark, situated on the compressor.

Read carefully this book in every part before using the coaxialscrew compressor.
In case of necessity call our technical assistence
Do not make repairings. If repairings are made by inexpert people, the security
level of the machine could be altered.
Carry out all the work and maintenance stages according to the norms in force
about hygiene and working security.
To handle the compressor use appropriate equipment as explained in section 7 INSTRUCTI-
ONS TO HANDLE THE COMPRESSOR.
4.1 OPERATOR WORKING RULES
The operations described in this section have to be carefully considered when using
the compressor.
Always wear individual protection devices, according to the laws in force in matter of hygiene
and safety of workers (it is advisable to wear protection glasses). During maintenance opera-

tions please dispose of possible waste carefully, and follow the regulations in force. The labels
and the tags situated on the machine are always to be kept readable. Do not carry out repairs
or maintenance when the machine is supplied with power. Do not approach to any components
of the system with heat sources or flames.
•Do not use the machine for unintended use.
•It is forbidden to use water jets under pressure (high-pressure water jet machine) to wash
the compressor.
•In case of demolition observe the regulations in force of the country where this operation
is carried out (oil presence).
4.2 SAFETY REGULATIONS
•The personnel allowed to work with the machine must be adult and responsible and must
examine this manual.
•When the machine is on do not remove the safety protections and the casing; do not
touch moving parts.
•Do not disconnect the electrical plug by pulling the cable and do not step on it or crash it
with heavy objects or sharp edges.
•Do not handle the compressor while it is connected to the electric system or while the air
tank is under pressure.
•If the compressor is used with electric extensions, make sure that the extension mark meets
the intended use.
•Before using the compressor, check if the protections or other parts show any externally
visible damage; in that event qualified personnel must repair or replace them.
•Use original spare parts only; the use of NOT ORIGINAL spare parts causes the
cancellation of the warranty. Use the compressor with rated voltage as indicated on the
data tag (see fig 1).
•Do not wash the casings and the plastic parts with corrosive liquid.
•If the compressor works with strange noises or vibrations, stop it immediately and if
required, ask for assistance.
•Do not carry out modifications to the compressor without the authorization of the
constructor.
•Do not direct the air stream against persons or animals.
•If the compressor is used for painting, avoid the closeness with naked flames; make sure
that there is enough air change (read section 5.1 and see fig.5); wear safety protections
•according to the regulations in force.
5 STARTING THE COMPRESSOR
Before starting the stacker read compressor all the maintenance and use book.
Before using the compressor, check if everything corresponds to what was requested during the
purchasing.

5.1 POSITIONING OF THE COMPRESSOR
For the good running of the compressor, it must be located in an appropriate place, which pre-
sents the following features.
The room temperature must be between 5°C and 45°C. With a temperature lower than 5°C the
working conditions of the fluids are alterated, with possible seizures. With temperature higher
than 45°C the exchanger does not cool properly the oil in the circuit, enabling the temperature
safety device. Do not use the compressor in explosion prone areas or where there is high risk of
fire; use it in areas with good air circulation only, far from inflammables. To make the natural air
change easier, it is necessary that the room presents outwards openings, nearby the floor and
the ceiling. See fig. 5 In the room where the compressor is used, there should not be any trace
of dust to avoid filter clogging and malfunction. To make the maintenance operations easier
and to allow good air circulation, it is recommended to leave enough free space around the
compressor.
The flooring supporting the compressor must be stable and flat. The compressor, thanks to its
features, does not need fixed vibration-damping on the standing feet.
5.2 CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRICITY NETWORK
The compressor must be connected to the electricity network by qualified personnel
according to the accident prevention regulation EN 60204
The compressor and, if supplied, the dryer must be: -earth connected to guard the operator from
electric shock. -the supply voltage must correspond to the one shown on the CE tag (see fig. 1).
-The electric supply must be realized with cable, whose section has to be suited to the machine
power. - do not absolutely use the plug of the connection cable as switch; to start the motoruse
the appropriate magnetothermic switch, with proper amperage. The following table describes
the values of the conductor section, depending on the machine power.

To avoid short-circuit, guard the electrical network with appropriate fuses and magnetothermic
switch. The following table describes the features of the magnetotermic switch and of the fuses

to use according to the machine power.

EXTENSIONS
If the connection is carried out using extensions, use earthing extensions. The section of the
extension cable must be suited to the electric current absorbed. Do not crash or damage the
cable. The cable section of three phase compressor must be proportional to the length. See the
following table.

ROTATION DIRECTION CHECK
At the back of the compressor, check through the grid if the belt rotation matches the direction
indicated on the adhesive in Fig. 6. In case of contrarotation stop the compressor immediately
and invert the poles.
5.3 CONNECTION TO THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM
Always use pneumatic pipes with features of max. pressure and appropriate sections.
In the case of ground compressor, with air tank or dryer, connect the compressor to the proper
3/4” coupling in the pneumatic system. See fig.7. The diameter of the connection must be lar-
ger than or equal to the compressor outlet. Between the compressor and the pneumatic system
install 2 spherical taps of adequate capacity.

6 HOW TO USE THE COMPRESSOR
Only a qualified expert is allowed to carry out the first starting of the compressor
(functional test)
6.1 CALIBRATION OF THE AIR PRESSURE SWITCH.
The calibration of the pressure switch allows to regulate the maximum pressure.
The pressure switch must be calibrated when there is pressure in the system. The cali-
bration is carried out through the following phases:
1 Operate the automatic stop of the motor, without using the emergency stop button.
2 Cut off the electric power to the system using the wall switch outside the compressor.
3Remove the screws and lift the upper panel Pos. A Fig. 8 and identify the Pressure Switch
Pos. B
4Remove the support pressure pos.C.Unscrew pressure switch lid retaining screw Pos. D
and remove the lid Pos. E like in Fig.8.

5To regulate the maximum pressure turn the screw pos.F Fig. 8 Rotating clockwise, the
pressure increases; counter-clockwise the pressure reduces.

Reassemble the components. Power the machine on with the wallmounted external
switch and then with the switch located on the machine. Start the compressor to check
the calibration.
Never exceed the max. pressure value, indicated in the table 3.2.Technical Features.
7 HANDLING OF THE COMPRESSOR
Before handling the compressor, ensure that every part is properly fixed.
Depending on the configuration of the compressor, with or without air tank, during the
transport, the handling of the compressor must be carried out in the following way only.
The compressor without air tank must be lifted with a transpallet or a truck with appropriate
capacity. In the same way the compressor with air tank (see fig. 9) must be lifted. The weight is
shown in the section 3.2 Technical Features.
8 MAINTENANCE
Before executing the maintenance jobs to read this paragraph carefully.
The maintenance operations must be carried out from
qualified staff. Before executing the maintenance to re-
move tension to the net electrical worker. To execute
exclusively the operations of described maintenance in
the present booklet, eventual participations does not
specify to you can represent a serious risk for a not ex-
pert operator, and however alter the total degree of
emergency of the machine. In the case of substitution of
component organs, to use replacement parts originates
them. During the job or the maintenance, the nameplates and the adhesive ones do not have to
be removed, hide to you.

8.1 CLEANING OF THE MACHINE
To the overall cleaning of the compressor, use dry air jets and wet cloths. Do not use solvents,
benzines or water jets.
8.2 PLANNED MAINTENANCE
The following table describes the essential operations to good maintenance of the compressor.

•Check the oil level with the transparent cap, it must be halfway on the red point.
•Discharge the condensation with the tap in the lower part of the tank.
EVERY 300 HOURS
•Security valve control.
•Tension belt control.
•Oil leak control.
•Air filter cleanness.
EVERY 500 HOURS
•Air cartridge replacement.
•General cleanness.
EVERY 1000 HOURS
•Total oil replacement.
•Belt and pulley control.
•Tube tightening control.
•Electric connection control.
8.2.1 OIL CHANGE
Read carefully the section 8.2 PLANNED MAINTENANCE, before changing the oil. To change
the oil or to fill the tank up, it is necessary to carry out the following operations:
1 Disconnect from the mains.
2 Open the door Pos. A Fig. 11.
3 Remove the oil plug (pos. B fig. 11)
4 Remove the cap Pos. C Fig. 11, place a container Pos.D. The oil quantity contained in the tank
is of.

5 Close the tap C, fill Pos. E with oil such as MR ELTE’ 46.

6 Check by means of the level that the oil does not exceed the maximum level.
7 Close the door and secure with two locks.
8.2.2 OIL TABLE
To fill up the tank or to completely change the oil of the compressor it is necessary to
use the oil type MR ELTE’ 46. Synthetic lubricant refrigerant for compressors.
8.2.3 RETAINING VALVE REPLACEMENT.
Read carefully the section 8.2 PLANNED MAINTENANCE before starting the replacement.
To replace the retaining valve it is necessary to follow these phases:
1 Disconnect from the mains.
2 Completely empty the tank with the condensate tap.
3 Unscrew the cap manually pos.B Fig.14, remove the cartridge and replace it with a new one.
4 Unscrew the hexagonal tap Pos. B with a wrench Pos. C Fig. 12.
5 To clean up accurately the rubber floppy disk and center, and if necessary to replace with the
reciprocation pos.D. fig.12.
8.2.4 AIR FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT MOD. LS 450 – 550 – 750
Read carefully the section 8.2 PLANNED MAINTENANCE before starting the replacement.
To replace the air filter cartridge, it is necessary to carry out the following operations:
1 Disconnect from the mains.
2 Completely empty the tank with the condensate tap.
3 Open the door with the equipped key Pos. A Fig.13.
4 Unscrew the cap pos.B Fig.13, remove the cartridge and replace it with a new one.
5 Replace the filter cap and fix it.

8.2.5 AIR FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT MOD. LS 1000 - 1500.
Read carefully the section 8.2 PLANNED MAINTENANCE before starting the replacement.
To replace the air filter cartridge, it is necessary to carry out the following operations:
1 Disconnect from the mains.
2 Completely empty the tank with the condensate tap.
3 Open the door with the equipped key Pos. A Fig.14.
4 Unscrew the screws, Pos. B Fig.14 and then remove the complete filter group.
5 Open the container Pos. C, clean the filter Pos. D and if necessary replace the filter
8.2.6 BELT REPLACEMENT
In order to replace the transmission straps, carry out the following operations:
1 Disconnect from the mains, unscrew the panel retaining screws pos.A Fig. 15 and remove it.
2 Check the wearing of the belts pos.B.
3 Using an open end wrench, loosen the belt tightener pos.C.
4 Remove the worn belt pos.B and replace it with a similar belt.
5 Tighten the belts using the tightener pos.C.
6 Put the panel back in place fixing the screws pos.A.
