Tips
Cable Reels should be treated with care, there is some general and important
guidance which you should always follow when using these products.
•Do Not modify the product in any way.
•Do Not step on, pull, fold or knot the cables.
•Do Not cover with any materials.
•Do Not overload.
•Keep away from high temperature objects.
•Fully uncoil the cable/cord before use, keep fully uncoiled at all times during use.
•For Indoor Use Only –unless specifically noted on the cable reel.
•If the product is damaged in any way cease use immediately.
•Do Not interconnect multiple cable reels.
•Keep out of reach of children, this is not a toy.
LARGE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES:
Large electrical appliances (e.g heaters, air conditioners, fridges, washing machines,
dryers etc.) can operate at wattages which are close to the maximum capacity of
your cable reel - therefore creating an environment in which a multi-outlet cable reel
could easily become overloaded.
•We recommend you plug these large appliances directly into a wall outlet / power point.
•Always check the ratings of the product and connected equipment before use. Do NOT
overload.
•We Do NOT recommend interconnecting multiple extension leads, cable reels or power boards
together - this will create an environment which allows for the product to easily become
overloaded.

DO NOT COVER:
Cable Reels should never be covered with any materials e.g. blankets, clothes,
sheets, bedding, curtains etc.
•Your cable reel should be free from any covering. It should remain well ventilated at all times.
•Covering cable reels will increase the potential for heat building-up in and around the device.
•Sheets, bedding and other materials are often flammable and must be kept well clear of
electrical devices.
FULLY UNCOIL CABLES/CORDS:
Fully uncoil the cable/cord before use, keep fully uncoiled at all times during use.
•Cables that are coiled, bunched or gathered will provide opportunity for a build-up of heat.
•Always ensure they are fully uncoiled before and during use.
INDOOR USE ONLY:
Unless specifically noted, most domestic cable reels will be specified for indoor use
only.
•Outdoor use provides greater opportunity for water and dust ingress into the product.
•Always be vigilant when using your product and only use as intended i.e. indoors only.
•Do not place in areas where it may be subject to water or moisture.
•Do not allow dust and other debris to gather on or in the device.
TRIPPING HAZARDS:
Be careful not to place the cable where it could easily become a tripping hazard or be
damaged during use.

OVERLOAD PROTECTION:
Many Cable Reels come with a resettable Overload Protection device (not all).
•The overload protector is designed to disconnect power from your device if it detects that the
product has been overloaded.
•It is important to resolve the underlying issue before resetting the overload i.e. unplugging
some devices and ensuring you are not exceeding the maximum load.
•Always be mindful about the combined load you are connecting, do not exceed the rated
maximum load noted on your products rating label.
•Never tamper with the overload reset switch.
THERMAL CUT-OUT:
Many Cable Reels come with a resettable Thermal Cut-Out device (not all).
•The thermal cut-out is designed to disconnect power from your device if it detects an excess
build up of heat on the internal circuit.
•It is important to resolve the underlying issue before resetting the thermal cut-out i.e.
unplugging some devices and ensuring the cable is fully uncoiled.
•Always check to ensure none of the connected devices have a fault before proceeding.
•Always be mindful about the combined load you are connecting, do not exceed the rated
maximum load noted on your products rating label.
•Wait 5 min to allow the product to suitably cool before proceeding.
•If the thermal-cut out continues to activate cease use.
