• (1) Bottom plate / (2) omega brackets and (2) support
bars preinstalled
3. Tools and Materials Required
• Phillips screwdriver
4. Kit Preparation
Before installing the kit into the wire tray or ladder rack, determine the number and size of the housings to be
installed into the kit. Housing installation begins at the top of the kit.
2U Mounting Kit accepts: 4U Mounting Kit accepts:
(1) EDGE-02U (1) EDGE-04U
(2) EDGE-01U (2) EDGE-02U
(4) EDGE-01U
(2) EDGE-01U and (1) EDGE-2U
Step 1: If less than the full capacity of housings will be installed into the kit, move the support bars from
their factory-installed positions so that they are positioned just below the lowest housing that will be
supported.
Step 2: Install the kit into the wire tray or ladder rack as described in Section 5 or 6.
Step 3: Then mount the housings, beginning at the top of the kit. Ensure that the lowest housing rests on the
support bars.

5. Rackless Wire Tray Mounting Kit 2U or 4U
Figure 2
NOTE: This installation requires two people.
Step 1: The rst person places the mini-frame under the wire tray.
Step 2: The second person aligns the X axis and Z axis brackets over the wire tray in line with the slots in the
mini-frame (Figure 2).
Step 3: The rst person slides the captive screws on the underside of the mini-frame under the X and Z axis
brackets and loosely inserts the screws into the threaded nuts on the brackets.
Step 4: Adjust the kit location in the X direction (left or right) and tighten the screws in the X axis brackets
from the underside of the mini-frame.
Step 5: Adjust the kit location in the Z direction (forwards or backwards) so the housing will align with the
front of the cabinet below, if present. Consider the 4.5-in frontal projection in your calculations.
Tighten the screws on the Z brackets from the underside.

NOTE: Calculate the Z dimension carefully. Once the kit is installed, any adjustment needed along the Z axis will
require that the housing be removed.

Step 6: Once the kit is secured in position, install the EDGE™ housing, as applicable, or any other device that
has the ability to be installed into a 19-in rack space. Slide the housing over the support bars into the
mounting kit. The bars will hold the housing while securing the mounting brackets on each side into
the mounting holes on front of the kit. If installing only one housing, place it in the top position.
NOTE: If the lowest housing is not supported by the support bars, remove and reinstall the support bars directly
below the housing as described in Section 4.

Figure 4
Step 1: Loosen the screws as shown in Figure 4 to allow the rails to slide.
Step 2: Place the mini-frame in the middle of the cross members. Slide the omega brackets to the left and
right to lock the system in the horizontal (X) axis.
NOTE: The kit is able to move in X and Z directions.

NOTE: If the lowest housing is not supported by the support bars, remove and reinstall the support bars directly
below the housing as described in Section 4.
7. (OPTIONAL) Install CDF Bracket
An optional CDF bracket may be installed external to the housing on the frame to provide additional cable
trunk installation positions and/or strain-relief. It supports incoming cable installation from the top or bottom
of the frame into the housing. The bracket can hold keyhole cradles or U-clip furcation trunk holders (ordered
separately) and is available in three sizes:
• EDGE-CDF-RJ04-BKT — 4-position furcation trunk holder
• EDGE-CDF-RJ08-BKT — 8-position furcation trunk holder
• EDGE-CDF-RJ12-BKT — 12-position furcation trunk holder
CDF brackets support use of extender trunks. If using an IBU (vertical manager) between frames, extender
trunks mounted to the CDF bracket on the back side of the frame must transition to the front using a “pass-
through” IBU system.
Step 1: Align bracket within the same height of the 4U housing.
Step 2: Install bracket using two 12-24 screws (Figure 6). Allow enough clearance when routing trunks from
the bracket into the housing to ensure bend radius is maintained when trunks enter the housing.
NOTE: If greater bend radius control of cable is required, position the bracket slightly above or below the roof of
the housing, depending upon the direction the cable is entering the housing.
Step 3: Insert furcation plug into cradle as seen in Figure 7 and mount cradle onto CDF bracket.

Step 4: Then route trunks inside the housing through the brushed cable entry slots. Terminate the MTP
connector at the back of the LC module or MTP adapter panel.
NOTE: In some cases, variations in the length of the trunk leg make it necessary to mount the trunk cradle
further out on the CDF bracket closer to the cable entry slot to avoid pulling on the leg when accessing the
tray from the front side of the housing.
