WhatYouWillNeedtoSetUpYourCamera
InstallingtheBatteries
YourWC30canfunctionshorttermon6AAbatteries.Tofunctionon6batteries,onefullsideofthebatterycasemust
haveall6batteriesinstalled,eitherthefrontorbackofthecase.Improvedbatterylifeon8AA,butwesuggestyouuse
12AAbatteriestogetthemostoutofyourcamera’sbatterylife.
Toremovethebatterytray,openthefrontcaseofthecameraandpressthebuttoninthebottomrightcorner,andthe
batterycasewillpopoutthebottomofthecamera.
Installbatteriesbyslidingthetopbatteryintothesleeve,thendepressingthespringwiththeotherbatteryand
snappingdowninplace.Payattentiontothe(+)of(‐)moldedintoeachsleevetodetermineifyouinsertthepositiveor
negativeendintothesleevefirst.Thenegativebatteryterminal(theflatend)alwayscontactsthespring.
InstallingtheSDCard
Nowthatyouhaveactivatedyourplan,youwillneedtoinstallanSDcardintherightsideofthecamera.We
recommendaCovertSDcard.OtherSDcardsmaywork,butalsouseanencryptionthatmaynotbecompatiblewith
yourcamera.Seebelowforcardorientation.Pushthecardinuntilitclicksandrelease.Toremove,repeatthatprocess,
thecardwillpopoutenoughtoremove.YoucanuseanySDcardupto32GB.

ButtonandSwitchFunctions
On/OffThreePositionSwitch
OFFPosition–TheunitwillremainOFFaslongastheswitchisinthisposition.
SETUPPosition–Wheninthesetupposition,youwillbeabletoviewthehomescreen,viewimagesstoredon
theSDcard,andchangethecamerasettings.Youwillneedtohavetheswitchinthispositiontosetupyour
cameraforuse.Ifyouleavetheunitidlefortoolonginthisposition,thescreenwillgoblank,switchtheunitoff
andbacktosetuptore‐accessthemainscreen.
ONPosition–Whentheswitchisinthisposition,thecamerawillbeONandfunctioninginthesettingsthatyou
havechosen.
ButtonFunctions
ArrowKeys–Youwillusethesekeystonavigatethemenuscreen,aswellastaketestimages.
oTestImage–Totakeatestimage,simplypresseithertheleftorrightarrow.
oTestVideo–Toaccessthevideoscreenpresseithertheupordownarrow.Oncethere,presseitherthe
leftorrightarrowtostartthetestvideo,andthepressthemagaintoendit.
OKButton–Youwillusethisbuttontoselectyoursettingsandviewimages/videosstoredonyourSDcard.
oToView–Whenatthemainscreen,clickOK,andyouwillbetakentotheimagesandvideosstoredon
yourSDcard.
oToDelete–Whenyouareviewinganimage/videothatyouwouldliketodelete,clickOK,andfollowthe
prompts.

Hereyouwillbeabletoselectyourdesiredmegapixelrating.Youhavethreeoptionsformegapixelrating5,16,and30.
UsethearrowkeystoselectyourdesiredsettingandpressOK.
CaptureNumber
Onthisscreenyouareabletoselectthenumberofburstphotosyouwouldliketobetakeneachtimethecamerais
triggered.Youcanselect1‐9photospertrigger.Usethearrowkeystoscrollthroughthelist,andwhenyourdesired
burstsettingisselected,clickOK.
ImageFormat
Twooptionshere4:3and16:9–thisisjusttheimageaspectratio–howlargetheimageis.Werecommend16:9.
VideoSize
Optionshereare360,720p,1080p.Yourcamerawilltransmiteither360or720pHDvideo.If1080pisselected,your
camerawillrecordHDvideosandstorethemontheSDcard
VideoLength
Youcansetbetween:05‐:60videos.Yourcamerawilltransmit:05videoclips.
CameraName
Youcansetuptoa10‐characternameforyourcamera.
TriggerSwitch
Whenturnedon,thecamerasensorwillfunctionasnormal.Whenturnedoff,thecamerawillnottriggerwhen
somethingmovesinfrontofit.Thisallowsyoutoremotelyturnoffthesensorifyouhavealeaforbranchtriggering
yourcamera.
Interval
Delayintervalcanbesetbetween:01‐60:00.

WorkPeriod
Allowsyoutosetmultipleworkperiods(A/B)foryourcamera.Whenoffthecamerawillfunctionallthetime.When
ON,thecamerawillonlyfunctionduringthedesignatedtimeperiods.
TimeLapse
Settheworkperiodandintervalofyourtimescan.Setyourworkperiodtowhenyouwantyourcameratofunction.
Setyourintervaltohowoftenyouwouldlikeyourcameratotakeanimage.
Intervaloptionsare:1min.‐59min.,1hour–6hours.
NightImage
Onthenightimagescreen,youwillhavethreeoptionstochoosefromShortRange,Fast,andLongRange.
ShortRange:ThecamerawilldimthebrightnessoftheLED’swhenapictureistakensothereflectionoffofthesubject
isnotoverlybright.
LongRange:ThecamerawillincreasethebrightnessoftheLED’swhenapictureistakensoyoucanclearlyseethe
subjectoftheimagefromadistance.
FastMode:Thismodewilloptimizethecameraforwhenthesubjectoftheimageismovingataquickpace.Whenin
themode,thecamerawilladjusttheshutterspeedtominimizemotionblur.
SensorLevel
AdjustthesensitivityofyourPIRsensor.Fouroptions:Low,Normal,High,Auto.
Low:Thecamerawillonlytriggerfrommajormovements
Normal:Thecamerawilltriggeratanormalrate.
High:Thecamerawilltakepictureswhenevermovementisdetected.
Auto:Thecamerawilldynamicallychangethesensitivitybasedonthetemperaturearoundtheunit.Incold
temperatures,theunitwillincreasethesensitivitytooptimizecaptures.Inwarmtemperatures,thecamerawill
decreasesensitivitytodecreasethenumberoffalsetriggers.
Asthetemperaturearoundthecamerachanges,warmsupthroughouttheday,yoursensitivitywillchangeaswell.
Autoisourrecommendedsetting.
Password
Thepasswordscreenallowsyoutosetapincodetobeabletochangethesettingsofyourcamera.Tosetthepassword,
selectON,thenchangethefour‐digitPINtoauniquepasswordthatyouwillusetoopenthecamera.Oncethe
passwordisset,eachtimeyougotothecamera,youwillbepromptedtoenterthePINbeforeopeningthemenu.
Ifyouforgetyourpassword,pleasecontactCovertScoutingCamerasatsuppor[email protected],call270‐743‐1515or
useouronlinechatoptiontorequestanRA#.Werequirewarrantyregistrationtoverifyyourcamera.Thismustbe
completedwithin10daysafteryourpurchase.Proofofpurchasewillberequired.

Overwrite
WhenoverwriteisON,thecamerawilldeletetheoldestpicturesontheSDcardwhentheSDcardhasreachedits
maximumstoragecapacity.
ImagesthatarerecycledfromtheSDcardthathavealreadybeentransmittedtotheapp,willnotbedeletedfromthe
app.IfthereareimagesyouwouldliketokeepthataresittingonyourSDcard,youwillneedtopulltheSDcard,and
downloadthemtoyourcomputerbeforetheyarerecycled.
OnceanimageisrecycledfromtheSDcard,theycannotberecovered.
Wireless
Whenyoureachthisscreen,selectONtoallowthecameratotransmitimageswirelessly.
IntheCovertWirelessApp,youwillalsobeabletoturnoffthetransmissionofimages.Thisisusefulifyouhavea
branchorweedsthatarecontinuallytriggeringanimagecapture.Turnoffthewirelesstransmissionuntilyoucangocut
ortrimwhatiscausingyourcameratotakeandsendimages.Thisistohelppreventtheareaaroundyourcamerafrom
chewingupbatterylifeorwastingyourimages.
SendMode
HereyouwillfindtheabilitytosetwhenyouwouldlikeyourphotostobetransmittedtotheCovertWirelessApp.
Whenimmediatelyisselected,whenaphotoistakenitwillimmediatelybesenttotheapp.Ifdailyorweeklyis
selected,yourimagesfromthatdayorweekwillallbetransmittedatthesametimetotheapp.Yourdailyorweekly
transmissionwillbeduringthesystemsdailycheckintothecamera,usuallyaround2AMcentraltime.
Format
FormattingyourSDcardclearseverythingoffthecard.(Itwilldeleteanypicturesthatarestoredonthecard!)We
recommendformattingyourSDcardeverytimebeforeusingyourcamera.EvenifyouhaveanewSDcard,youshould
alwaysformatthecardbeforeyouuseitinthecamera.
Default
Thiswillreturnthecameratoitsfactorydefaultsettings.
TricksandTipsonFieldSetup
Forbestresults,mountthecameraapproximatelythree(3)feetoffthegroundfacingstraightforward,aslevel
aspossible.Besuretoadjustforuneventerrain.
Toenhancetheflash,werecommendpositioningthecamerainanareawithabackdroptoreflectthemaximum
amountoflight.Forinstance,placethecamera20‐30’fromafieldedgefacingthewoods.Forinsideoftimber,
positioningthecamerafacingathicketapproximately20‐30’away.
Clearbrushawayfromthefrontofthecameratoavoidfalsetriggers.
Facethecameradownagametrail,ratherthandirectlyatit,tocovermoreoftheanimal’spath.
TrytosetthecameraupfacingNorthorSouthtoavoidoverexposurefromthesuninthemorningorthe
eveningwhengamemovementisatitspeak.
UseoneoftheCovertmountingsystemstomountthecamerauphigherpointingdownonthemforabetter
look.Thisalsoworksgreatwhenyoudonothaveastraighttreetoattachto.Youcanfindourlineofmounting

Inthemaintenanceoftheproduct,CovertScoutingCamerasmayuseneworlike‐newassembliesorproductsforequal
orimprovedquality.Alldefectiveparts,assemblies,andproductsbecomepropertyofCovert.Returnsandclaimswill
behandledaccordingtothecurrentCovertScoutingCameras,Inc.procedure.
Thesewarrantiesshallnotapplytoanydefect,failure,ordamagecausedbyimproperuseorinadequatemaintenance
andcare.Covertshallnotbeobligatedunderthesewarrantiestorepair:
a. DamageresultingfromattemptsbypersonnelotherthanCovertrepresentativestoinstall,repair,or
servicetheproductunlessdirectedbyaCovertrepresentative.
b. Damage,malfunction,ordegradationofperformanceresultingfromimproperuseorconnectionto
incompatibleequipmentormemory.
c. Damage,malfunction,ordegradationofperformancecausedbytheuseofnon‐Covertsuppliesor
consumablesortheuseofCovertsuppliesnotspecifiedforusewiththisproduct.

d. Anitemthathasbeenmodifiedorintegratedwithotherproductswhentheeffectofsuchmodification
orintegrationincreasesthetimeordifficultyofservicingtheproductordegradesperformanceor
reliability.
e. Toperformusermaintenanceorcleaningortorepairdamage,malfunction.
f. Damage,malfunction,ordegradationofperformanceresultingfromuseoftheproductinan
