•Read, understand,and follow all
instructionsin the manualand on the
machinebeforestarting.
• Only allowresponsibleadults, who are
familiar withtheinstructions,tooperate
the machine.
•Clearthe area ofobjectssuchas
rocks,toys,wire,etc., whichcouldbe
pickedup andthrownbythe blade.
•Besurethe areaisclear ofother
peoplebeforemowing. Stop machine
itanyoneentersthe area.
Never carry passengers.
Do notmow in reverseunlessabso-
lutelynecessary. Alwayslookdown
and behindbeforeand whilebacking.
• Be aware ofthe mowerdischarge
directionanddo notpointitat anyone.
Do notoperatethe mowerwithout
eithertheentiregrass catcheror the
guard in place.
•Slow downbeforeturning.
•Never leave a runningmachine
unattended. Alwaysturnoffblades,set
parkingbrake, stopengine,and
removekeys beforedismounting.
•Turn offbladeswhen notmowing.
•Stop engine before removinggrass
catcheror uncloggingchute.
•Mow onlyin daylightor good artificial
light.
•Do notoperatethe machinewhile
underthe influence of alcohol or drugs.
•Watch for trafficwhen operatingnearor
crossingroadways.
•Use extracarewhen loadingor
unloadingthe machineintoa traileror
truck.
•Data indicatesthat operators,age 60
yearsand above, are involvedin a
largepercentageof ddingmower-
ralatedinjuries. These operators
shouldevaluate theirabilityto operate
the ridingmowersafelyenoughto
protectthemselvesand othersfrom
seriousinjury.
Slopes are a majorfactorrelatedto loss-of-
control and tipover accidents, which can
resultin severeinjuryor death. All slopes
requireextracaution.If youcannotbackup
the slopeorif youfeel uneasy on it, do not
mowit.
DO:
•Mow up and downslopes,notacross.
• Remove obstaclessuchas rocks,tree
limbs,etc.
•Watchfor holes,ruts,orbumps.
Uneventerraincouldoverturnthe
machine. Taftgrass canhide ob-
stacles.
•Use slowspeed. Choosea lowgear so
thatyou wil!nothavetostopor shift
whiteon the slope.
•Followthe manufacturer'srecommen-
dationsfor wheel weightsor counter-
weightsto improvestability.
•Use extracare withgrasscatchersor
otherattachments.These can change
the stability of themachine.
•Keepall movementon theslopess/ow
and gradual Do not make sudden
changesin speed or direction.
•Avoidstartingor stoppingon a slope. It

blades and proceed slowlystraight
downthe slope.
DONOT:
•Do not turn on slopes unless neces-
sary, andthen,turn slowly and gradu-
ally downhill,if possible.
•Do notmow neardrop-offs,ditches,or
embankments. The mowercould
suddenlyturnover ifa wheel isoverthe
edgeofa clifforditch,orif anedge
caves in.
•Do notmow on wet grass.Reduced
tractioncouldcause sliding.
•Do not trytostabilizethe machineby
puffingyourtoot on the ground.
•Do notuse grasscatcher on _steep
slopes.
