Wall Anchor Safety Warnings
WARNING: Serious injury or death can occur
from the rack tipping over. To prevent this, the
rack must be secured to a wall, especially in
earthquake -prone areas, or where surfaces are
uneven, and where children and/or pets are present.
Different wall materials require different types
of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for your
specific type of wall. If you are uncertain about
what type of fastener to use, then please contact
your local hardware store.
Weight Limit Safety Warnings
WARNING: Never exceed the following
weight limits:
a ) Maximum load for each shelf: Up to 1,500 lbs
(680 kg) when weight is evenly distributed.
b ) It is recommended that the heaviest load be placed
on the bottom shelf.

INDIVIDUAL RACK ASSEMBLY
WARNING: Serious or fatal crushing injuries can
occur from rack tipping over. To prevent this, the
assembled rack must always be secured to a wall,
especially in earthquake-prone environments, where
surfaces are uneven, and where children and/or pets
are present.
NOTICE: Tools required for rack assembly: 4 mm hex
key 14 (included) OR 4 mm hex bit 15 (included),
10 mm wrench 13 (included); rubber mallet (not
included), flat-head screwdriver (not included)
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
• Read all instructions thoroughly.
• Remove all components from the box, and lay
them on the floor in an orderly fashion.
• Wear eye protection.
• Be cautious of sharp edges.
• Keep this information for further reference.
• If you are not stacking a second rack at this time,
then please store the stacking brackets 17 and
(8) locking pins 10 for potential future use as
they will be needed.
Expandable Upright Frame Instructions
(Fig. C, D)
1. Place one (1) vertical beam 1 and one (1) pre-bolted
vertical beam 2 on the floor, parallel to one another
[about 22" (55,9 cm) apart]. The widest part of the

Crossbeam Installation (Fig. E, F, G)
NOTE: It is recommended for one person to hold the
upright frames in place while a second person installs
the crossbeams 4 .
1. There is a set of locking tabs at both ends of every
crossbeam 4 . To begin assembly, take one crossbeam
and insert the tabs into two of the holes on the lower
portion of one upright frame. Engage the locking tabs
into the holes using a downward motion. The locking
pin hole should be at the top. Make sure the end of the
crossbeam is flush against the upright frame. (Fig. E)
2. Repeat for the opposite side of the upright frame.
Tap the ends of the crossbeam closest to the upright
frames with a rubber mallet until fully seated. The
crossbeam and locking tabs should easily slip into
place. If they do not, then recheck the alignment of the
teardrop-shaped holes and tabs. Too much force may
damage the interlock between the crossbeam and
upright frame. (Fig. F)
3. Using the methods listed above, install another
crossbeam to the opposite side of the upright frames,
parallel to the first crossbeam you installed. Make sure
both crossbeams are at the same level.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for the other set of crossbeams.

teardrop-shaped hole pattern on each beam should be
facing upward (or away from you). (Fig. C)
2. Insert the free end of the diagonal beam into the free
end of the horizontal beam. Align the holes, and insert
both beams into the U-shaped bracket at the top of
the opposing vertical beam. Use the included hex
key or drill bit to thread the vertical assembly bolt 3
through the holes and into the weld nut attached to
the U-shaped bracket. Do not fully tighten the
bolt yet. (Fig. D)
3. Swing out the bottom horizontal beam, and insert
it into the U-shaped bracket at the bottom of the
opposing vertical beam. Thread a vertical assembly
bolt through the holes and into the weld nut. Do not
fully tighten the bolt. (Fig. D)
4. Repeat steps 1-3 to assemble the remaining upright
frame. Once all are assembled, fully tighten the bolts.
Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts; there should
be no deformation of the U-shaped brackets and/or
horizontal beams.

Shelf Support and Safety Strap
Instructions (Fig. H, I, J)
1. Each set of crossbeams 4 will need to have three
(3) shelf support straps 5 and two (2) safety
straps 6 installed.
2. Starting with the lowest set of crossbeams, place
a safety strap between the lower ridges of the
crossbeams where two sets of holes have been pre-
drilled. Thread a safety strap bolt 7 up through the
bottom of the pre-drilled holes and through the weld
nuts, and fully tighten with the included hex key 14 or
drill bit. Repeat this process for each strap for this set of
crossbeams. (Fig. H)
3. Repeat step 2 for the remaining set of crossbeams.

4. For each set of crossbeams, place three (3) shelf
support straps perpendicular to the crossbeams, and
insert each end into the slots on each ridge of the
crossbeams. (Fig. I, J)

Wall Anchor Assembly Instructions
(Fig. K, L, M)
WARNING: Serious injury or death can occur from
the rack tipping over. To prevent this, the rack must
be secured to a wall, especially in earthquake -prone
areas, or where surfaces are uneven, and where
children and/or pets are present.
CAUTION: Drywall anchors and anchor screws
are included with this rack; however, different wall
materials require different types of fasteners. Use
fasteners suitable for your specific type of wall. If you
are uncertain about what type of fasteners to use,
then please contact your local hardware store.
1. The wall anchor assembly 16 is installed on the
backside of the top crossbeam 4 at the rear of
the rack.
2. Take the U-shaped wall anchor and rock it up at an
angle to attach it to the bottom inner channel of the
crossbeam. Once attached, the back portion will sit
flush against the inside of the crossbeam. (Fig. K)
3. Once attached, the U-shaped wall anchor can be
moved from side to side (in between the two safety
straps 6 ). This allows for it to be attached to a 2 x 4 in
the wall. (Fig. L)
4. The L-shaped wall anchor has two sets of four square
holes that allow you to adjust the distance of the rack
to the wall. Use two carriage bolts 11 and two 10 mm
nuts 12 to attach the L-shaped wall anchor to the
bottom of the U-shaped wall anchor. (Fig. M)

Composite Wood Deck, Wire Deck, and
Locking Shelf Pin Instructions
(Fig. N, O, P)
NOTE: Each wire deck 9 consists of two sides–a “short”
side and “long” side. If you plan on sliding objects on
and off of the shelf from the front of the rack, then it is
recommended to have the “short” side of the grid facing
upward. If you plan on sliding objects from the side of the
rack, then it is recommend to have the “long” side facing
upwards.
1. To install the composite wood deck 8 , place it on the
top ledge of the crossbeams 4 . If seated properly, it
will “pop” into place and lay evenly. (Fig. N)
2. To install the wire deck 9 , place the wire deck onto
the top ridge of a set of crossbeams. If seated properly,
the grid will “pop” into place and lay evenly.
3. Place a locking grid clip 18 in each corner of the wire
deck. With your free hand, insert the rolled edge with
the groove facing upwards. (Fig. O)
4. With one hand, apply pressure to the back of the clip.
With your free hand, insert a flat-head screwdriver (not
included) into the small slot in the clip to spread the
tine up and over the wire deck.
5. Pull back on the screwdriver. The grooved channel in
the clip should now match up with the wire decking,
which will help secure it to the shelf beam.
6. Repeat Steps 3-5 on the remaining three corners of the
wire deck.
7. There are locking pin holes at both ends of every
crossbeam. This is where the locking pins are 10 to be
installed. If the pin does not easily slip into place, then
moderately tap the end of the crossbeam to fully seat
the locking tabs. (Fig. P)

Stacking Racks Vertically (Fig. Q, R, S, T)
NOTE: This CRAFTSMAN rack has the unique ability to
stack on top of another CRAFTSMAN rack of the same
width in order to form a larger combined rack. Included
with this rack are eight (8) stacking brackets 17 and eight
(8) extra locking pins 10 These are used in conjunction
with the upright frames to join two racks together by
doing the following:
1. Remove the top caps from the upright frames of the
portion that will be on the bottom by using a small
mallet or screwdriver (not included) to lightly tap the
top caps from the underside. (Fig Q)
2. Remove the feet from the upright frames of the
portion that will be on top by using a small mallet or
screwdriver (not included) to lightly tap the feet from
the topside.
3. With the assistance of a helper, lift one assembled rack
and place on top of the other assembled rack. Carefully
align the top and bottom upright frames on both
sides. As one person stabilizes the top portion of the
vertically assembled rack, the other person will place
up to eight (8) stacking brackets 17 on the rack to join
the two pieces. One stacking bracket will be placed at
each corner of the upright frames to join the seams.
If it is desired to place a shelf at the same level as the
stacking brackets, the crossbeams 4 can be used to
replace one (1) stacking bracket at each corner of the
upright frames. (Fig. R, S)
4. Lightly tap the top of each stacking bracket or
crossbeam with a mallet (not included) to ensure that
they are fully seated and engaged. Insert a locking pin
16 into each stacking bracket. (Fig. T)
5. Up to three 36" high racks may be stacked
together vertically.
DANGER: When using racks in triple stacked (108"
high) configuration, the capacity per shelf is reduced.
NEVER EXCEED 1,000 lbs, EVENLY DISTIBUTED, per
shelf when using in triple stacked configuration.
NEVER move or shake the rack while loaded. DO NOT
lean other objects against the front or sides of the
racks. The racks may collapse causing serious injury
or death.
WARNING: If a locking pin cannot be inserted, then
the stacking bracket is not fully seated. Do not use
the rack without ensuring that the stacking brackets
are fully seated. The rack may collapse and serious
injury or death could result.
WARNING: The seam that joins the top and bottom
racks must be fully covered by either two (2) stacking
brackets, or by a stacking bracket and a crossbeam
(Fig. R.1, R.2). Failure to completely cover the seam
with fully seated stacking brackets and crossbeams
could cause the rack to collapse when loaded,
causing serious injury or death. (Fig. R.3, R.4, R.5, R.6)
WARNING: Never stack more than three 36" high
racks vertically (108" total). The rack may collapse
and serious injury or death could result.

CRAFTSMAN will repair or replace, without charge, any
defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for one
year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not
cover part failure due to normal wear or tool abuse.
