PREPARATION
Thoroughlyinspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobeused.
Removeall doormats,newspapers,sleds,boards,wiresandother
foreignobjects,whichcouldbetrippedoverorthrownbytheauger/
impeller.
•Alwayswearsafetyglassesor eyeshieldsduringoperationand
whileperformingan adjustmentor repairtoprotectyoureyes.
Thrownobjectswhichricochetcancauseseriousinjurytothe
eyes.
•Donotoperatewithoutwearingadequatewinteroutergarments.
Donotwearjewelry,longscarvesor otherlooseclothing,which
couldbecomeentangledin movingparts.Wearfootwearwhich
willimprovefootingon slipperysurfaces.
•Usea groundedthree-wireextensioncordandreceptacleforall
machineswithelectricstartengines.
•Adjustcollectorhousingheighttocleargravelorcrushedrock
surfaces.
•Disengageall controlleversbeforestartingtheengine.
•Neverattemptto makeanyadjustmentswhileengineis running,
exceptwherespecificallyrecommendedintheoperator'smanual.

EPAemissionregulationsforSORE(SmallOff RoadEquipment)are
certifiedtooperateon regularunleadedgasoline,andmayinclude
thefollowingemissioncontrolsystems:EngineModification(EM),
OxidizingCatalyst(OC),SecondaryAirInjection(SAI)andThreeWay
Catalyst(TWC)ifsoequipped.
SPARK ARRESTOR
Thismachineis equippedwithan internalcombustionengineand
shouldnotbe usedonor nearanyunimprovedforest-covered,
brushcoveredor grass-coveredlandunlesstheengine'sexhaust
systemisequippedwithasparkarrestermeetingapplicablelocalor

NOTE:Referencestorightor leftsideofthesnowthrowerare
determinedfrombehindtheunitintheoperatingposition(standing
directlybehindthesnowthrower,facingthehandlepanel).
REMOVING FROM CRATE
1. Removescrewsfromthebottomofthecratesecuringthesides,
andendsoftheshippingcrate.
2. Liftoff thetopoff ofthecrateandset outofthewayofthe
assemblyarea.
3. Removeand discardplasticbagthat coversunit.
4. Removeanyloosepartsincludedwithunit(e.g.,Operator's
Manual,etc.).
5. Pushdownonthelowerhandleandpull unitbackoutofcrate.
6. Makecertainthecratehasbeencompletelyemptiedbefore
discardingit.
ASSEMBLY
1. Makecertainthespringsatthelowerendoftheaugeranddrive
cablesaresecurelyhookedintotheirrespectiveactuator
bracketbeforepivotingthehandleupward.RefertoFig. 10.
a. Placetheshift leverin theF6position.
b. Removethelowerwingknobandcarriageboltfromeach
sideof theupperhandle.Pullupon upperhandleasshown
in Fig.1.Alignupperhandlewiththelowerhandle.Again,
makecertainthespringsatthelowerendoftheaugerand
drivecablesaresecurelyhookedintotheirrespective
actuatorbracket.Also,removeanyrubberbandssecuring
thecablestothewingnuts.
2. a. Securetheupperhandleandlowerhandlewiththetwo wing
knobsandcarriageboltsremovedearlier.
b. Tightenthetwo wingknobsalreadyinstalledintheupper
holestofirmlysecuretheupperhandleandsupporttubes.
3. Aligntheupperand lowershiftrods,thenslidetheshiftrod
connectordownovertheendofthelowershift rod.Tapthe
connectoruntilthe lowerrod iscompletelythroughtheconnector.

NOTE:Iftheconnectorisnotproperlyassembled,theshiftrodwill
pivotand youwillnotbe abletoproperlychangespeedsor direction.
NOTE:Ifthefullrangeof speeds(forwardandreverse)cannotbe
achieved,refertothe"MakingAdjustments"section.
4. a. Cutthecabletiesecuringthechuteassemblytothelower
chutecrankrodforshippingpurposes.
b. Removetheinternalcotterpinfromtheupperchutecrank.
Slidetheupperchutecrankintothesleeveon thelower
chutecrank.SeeFig.3.
c. Aligntheholein theupperchutecrankwiththeholein the
sleeve(Ifnecessary,usea pairof plierstoassistin aligning
holes).Insertthe internalcotterpin throughtheholesto

housingforshippingpurposes.Cutthecabletieandremoveitbefore
operatingthesnowthrower.
SET-UP
Chute Clean=Out Tool
Achute clean-out tool isfastenedtothetopoftheaugerhousing
witha mountingclip.SeeFig.6.Thetoolisdesignedtocleara chute
assemblyoficeandsnow.This item,alongwiththeextensioncord,is
fastenedwitha cabletieatthefactory,whichyouwereinstructedto
cut intheprevioussection.
Neveruseyourhandsto cleara cloggedchuteassembly.Shut
off engineandremainbehindhandlesuntilall movingpartshave
stoppedbeforeusingtheclean-outtooltoclearthechuteassembly.
Drift Cutters
1. Removethetwoscrewsand locknutsthatsecureeachdrift
cutter,andremovethemfromthesidesoftheaugerhousing.
2. Turnthedrift cuttersaroundandpositionthemasshowninFig.7
totheoutsideoftheaugerhousing.

ADJUSTMENTS
Skid Shoes
Thesnowthrowerskidshoesareadjustedupwardatthefactoryfor
shippingpurposes.Adjustthemdownward,ifdesired,priortooperat-
ingthesnowthrower.
It isnotrecommendedthatyouoperatethissnowthrowerongravel
asitcaneasilypick upandthrowloosegravel,causingpersonal
injuryor damagetothesnowthrowerandsurroundingproperty.

higherontheaugerhousing.

instructionsbelow.Performall adjustmentsto verifyyoursnow
throwerisoperatingsafelyandproperly.
Whentheaugercontrolisreleasedandin thedisengaged"up"posi-
tion,thecableshouldhaveverylittleslack,butshouldNOTbetight.
RefertoFig.9 forlocationofcontrols.
1. Ina well-ventilatedarea,startthesnowthrowerengineas
instructedin theOperationsection.
2. Whilestandingintheoperator'sposition(behindthesnow
thrower),engagetheaugercontrolandallowtheaugertoremain
engagedforapproximatelytensecondsbeforereleasingthe
augercontrol.Repeatthisseveraltimes.
3. Withtheenginerunningand theaugercontrolinthedisengaged
"up"position,walktothefrontofthemachine.Confirmthatthe
augerhascompletelystoppedrotatingandshowsnosignsof
motion.
4. Iftheaugershowsanysignsof rotating,immediatelyreturntothe
operator'spositionandshutoff theengine.Waitforall moving
partstostopbeforereadjustingtheaugercontrolcable.

5. Refastentheclean-outtooltothemountingclipontherearof

washerfromtheferruleandwithdrawtheferrulefromtheshift

slotsandadapterposts,pushtheaugerpulleyfullyontothe
