Introduction
To help ou make the best use of our cooker, PLEASE READ THIS
BOOKLET CAREFULLY.
Your new cooker is guaranteed and will give lasting service.
The guarantee is onl applicable if the cooker has been installed in
accordance with the installation instructions.
The cooker is designed specificall for domestic use and responsibilit
will not be accepted for use in an other installation.
When first using the cooker ensure that the room is well ventilated
(eg. open a window or use an extractor fan.) and that persons who ma be
sensitive to the odour avoid an fumes. It is suggested that an pets be
removed from the room until the smell has ceased. This odour is due to an
temporar finish and also an moisture absorbed b the insulation.
The batter is not covered b the guarantee. Use an alkaline AA batter .
The batter holder is located in the plinth panel below the oven door.
Open the oven door full . Unscrew the knurled fixing screw anti-
clockwise and remove. Withdraw the batter holder just enough to get
access to the batter . Fit the new batter with the end marked “+” on the
same side of the batter holder as the red lead. Replace the batter
holder b placing it into the hole in the plinth and sliding to the left. Refit
the screw.

carefull and safel . Remove all doors and lids (where fitted). Remove
the mains cable (where fitted) b cutting off flush with the appliance
and alwa s ensure that no plug is left in a condition where it could be
connected to the electricit suppl .
To help the environment, Local Authorit instructions should be
followed for the disposal of our product.

●Never leave children unsupervised where the cooker is
installed as all surfaces will be hot during and after its use.
●Never allow an one to sit or stand on an part of the cooker.

Never store items that children ma attempt to reach above the
cooker.
●Never heat up unopened food containers as pressure can build
up causing the container to burst.
●Never store chemicals/food stuffs, pressurised containers in or
on the cooker, or in cabinets immediatel above or next to the
cooker.
●Never fill a deep fat fr ing pan more than 1/3 full of oil, or use
a lid. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED WHILE COOKING.
●Never place flammable or plastic items on or near the hotplate.
●Never use proprietar spillage collectors on the hotplate.
●Never use the cooker as a room heater.
●Never dr clothes or place other items over or near to the
hotplate or oven/grill doors.
●Never wear garments will long flowing sleeves whilst cooking.
NOTE: The use of a gas cooking appliance results in the production of
heat and moisture in the room in which it is installed. Ensure that the
kitchen is well ventilated; keep natural ventilation holes open or install a
mechanical ventilation device (mechanical extractor hood).
Prolonged intensive use of the appliance ma call for additional ventila-
tion, for example opening of a window, or more effective ventilation, for
example increasing the level of mechanical ventilation where present.

How to Deal with a
Fat Fire

The hotplate has one large high speed burner, two normal simmering
burners and one small simmering burner which will accommodate pans
between 100mm (4”) and 200mm (8”) diameter. All pans should be
positioned centrall over the burners.
The pan supports should be fitted on the hotplate such that the indents
along one side of each pan support are inner-most.
Those models fitted with a hotplate lid have a safet device which cuts
off the gas suppl to the hotplate unless the lid is full open. Do not use
the safet device as a means of controlling the burners.
1. Press the ignition button and then push in and turn the control
knob of the chosen burner anti-clockwise to the large flame
s mbol. Continue to press the ignition button until the sparks
light the gas.
2. Turn the control knob anti-clockwise to the desired setting.
Onl turn the control knob between the large flame s mbol and
the small flame s mbol for adjusting the setting.
3. To turn off, turn the control knob full clockwise to the s mbol O.
DO NOT use mis-shapen pans which ma be unstable.
DO NOT use round base woks directl on the pan supports.
DO NOT use the glass lid (if fitted) as a working surface.
Each burner is fitted with a spark ignition electrode for lighting the gas.
To ensure rapid lighting of the burners ever time the are used, the
electrodes must be kept clean and dry. Remove an food spillage or
cleaning materials from the electrode using a small n lon brush such as a
tooth brush. Access to the electrode can be achieved b lifting off the
loose burner parts carefull when the burners are cool.
If aluminium based pans are used, a silver deposit ma appear on the
top edge of the pan support fingers. See ‘Care and Cleaning’ section for
cleaning information.
1. Never fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat.
2. Never leave oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooling
period.
3. Never heat fat or fr with a lid on the pan.
4. Alwa s dr food thoroughl before fr ing, and lower it slowl
into the hot oil or fat. Frozen foods in particular will cause
frothing and spitting if added too quickl .
5. Alwa s keep the outside of the pan clean and free from streaks
of oil or fat.
1. Do not move the pan.
2. Turn off the hotplate burners.
3. Smother the flames with a fire blanket or damp cloth to
extinguish the fire. Do not use water or a fire extinguisher as
the force of it ma spread the burning fat or oil over the edge of
the pan.
4. Leave the pan for at least 60 minutes before moving it.

Lighting the burner
Guidance on using
the Top Oven 1. Best results are obtained b pre - heating for about fifteen minutes.
2. The tra or dish on which the food is cooked should be pushed to the
back of the shelf.
3. Food which is higher than or will rise above 100mm (4") cannot be
cooked in the top oven.
Never place dishes on the oven base over the burner.
An odour ma be noticed when first using the oven - this should cease
after a short period of use.
The burner control should not be operated for more than 15 seconds. If
after 15 seconds the burner has not lit, turn off the burner control and do
not attempt to re - ignite the burner for at least one minute.
In the event of the burner flames being accidentall extinguished, turn
off the burner control and do not attempt to re-ignite the burner for at
least one minute.
The top oven can be used to cook small quantities of food or used in
conjunction with the main oven to provide additional cooking space.
The shelf in the top oven has a heat shield fitted at the rear. The shield
can be removed for cleaning and grilling, but must be replaced when
using the oven. The shelf can be used in two different positions. It has a
safet stop to prevent it from being pulled out too far when attending to
food. The shelf is removed from the oven b pulling it out to the stop and
then lifting at the front to withdraw.
The baking dish can be used in the oven. The maximum size of the
baking dish that should be used is 300mm x 330mm (12" x 13")
1. Check that the heat shield is fitted to the shelf.
2. Place the top oven shelf in the chosen position. (Refer to cooking
chart)
3. Push in and turn the grill / top oven control knob full anti-clockwise.
Press the ignition button until the sparks light the gas, keeping the
control knob pushed in for at least 5 seconds. Release the control
knob and check that the burner is still alight. If not tr again,
keeping the control knob pushed in for a longer period.
4. Turn the control knob clockwise to the required setting.
5. To turn off, turn the control knob clockwise to the s mbol O

The following times and setting are for guidance onl . You ma wish to
alter the setting to give a result more to our satisfaction. When a
different setting to that shown below is given in a recipe, the recipe
instructions should be followed. Allow 15 minutes preheat for best
results. Alwa s turn the thermostat knob to Mark 8 before selecting the
required gas Mark.
