General instructions
Please read this document carefully before installing the OmniDrive USB2 intern Pro/LF hardware and sotware
and follow the operating instructions which it contains.
The equipment should not be used without prior familiarization with the operating instructions. The equipment
should not be used beyond the limits which are specified in the technical data.
All hardware, sotware and documentation rights belong to CSM GmbH. Copies may be neither made nor used.
Hardware installation
CAUTION!
fEMC hints have to be observed, see chapter "EMC" below.
fThe PC must be switched o for the hardware installation.
fModifications to the connector assembly must be applied with the PC powered down.
CAUTION!
Before you start with the hardware installation take care that there is no static electrical
discharge on the OmniDrive USB intern Pro/LF or on any other system component. Discharge
yourself by touching a grounded object before you remove the OmniDrive USB intern Pro/
LF from its package. Be always sure that you do not touch any component before you are well
discharged.

The power supply via loppy connector is optional. The usage of media with high power
consumption (e.g. hard disks) may require the usage of an external power supply for the drive.
Therefore we recommend to connect this optional power supply to ensure safe operation for
all media.
EMC
Connection and installation hints for operation:
fShielded cables must be used for the signal line outside of a shielded cabinet.
fOmniDrive USB intern Pro/LF must be mounted in an shielded enclosure for EMC reasons.
fTake care for a good electrical connection between the shielding enclosure and the mounting holes of the
OmniDrive USB intern Pro/LF.
WARNING!
Shield, case and signal ground are connected directly to the negative line (GND) of power supply.
Operation hints
WARNING!
Avoid electrostatic discharge at the PC-Card while there is data access. Touch the metallic case
first prior handling the PC-Card.
USB Interface
The USB cable can be used to connect the OmniDrive USB intern Pro/LF directly to a motherboard.
WARNING!
The pinout of the cable is NOT compatible to all motherboards. Please check the pinout used
by your motherboard and correct the cable if necessary!
