Functional Ground Terminal. Primarily
used for functional earth terminals which
are generally associated with test and
measurement circuits. These terminals
are not for safety earthing purposes but
provide an earth reference point.
NOTE: This guide does not provide detailed
installation, safety or operational instructions.

Only properly trained service personnel may perform
installation and service procedures. (In other words:
electricians, service personnel employed by or active in
an organization, business, or service).
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage equipment
and impair electrical circuitry. ESD damage occurs
when electronic components are improperly handled
and can result in complete or intermittent failures.
Warranty is void if the EDGE 2 System is used in a
manner not specied by the manufacturer.

Installing EDGE 2 WiFi Module-
Quick Start Guide
1 - NOTICES
WARNING: Read the following text
carefully; it contains important information
which, if ignored, may cause the controller
to operate improperly.
High Voltage. Hazard of electrical shock.
Protective Earth Ground Terminal.
Primarily used for protective earth
terminals. These terminals connect to
conductive parts of a device for the
purpose of safety and is intended to
be connected to an external system for
protective grounding.

2 - REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
Details on installation and initial conguration of the
EDGE 2 System can be found in the EDGE 2 System
Installation Manual #890-00687.
Details on the operation of the EDGE 2 System can be
found in the EDGE 2 System User’s Manual #890-00686.
Details on wiring diagrams of the EDGE 2 System can
be found in the EDGE 2 System wirings diagrams:
#891-00596: EDGE 2 - Non redundancy System
#891-00597: EDGE 2 - Redundancy System
#891-00598: EDGE 2 - General information
The EDGE 2 WiFi Module kit includes the WiFi card, WiFi
Antennas, and hardware.
IMPORTANT: Make sure all redundant and backup
systems are operating properly to provide minimum
ventilation during the system upgrade.
Refer to FIGURE 1.
1. Unlock and open EDGE 2 Controller cover.
2. Disconnect the power\RS-485 cable to the EDGE 2
Controller.
3. If it is a replacement, unscrew and remove the
WiFi card by pulling horizontally and unstick and
remove the WiFi antennas from the bottom plastic
enclosure.
4. Install the new WiFi card by sliding it into the WiFi
card connector. Push the WiFi card until the screw
holes (B) align with the holes in the PCB-495.
5. Screw the two screws (E) provided in the kit to the
WiFi card and PCB-495.
6. Install the WiFi antenna cables to the WiFi card
connectors (A).
7. Remove the release paper and stick the WiFi
antennas to the enclosure sides, one to the top
side (C) and one to the right side (D).
8. Connect the power\RS-485 cable to the EDGE 2
Main Controller.
9. Close and lock the EDGE 2 Main Controller cover.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage
equipment and impair electrical circuitry.
ESD damage occurs when electronic
components are improperly handled and can result in
complete or intermittent failures.
WiFi antenna cables and WiFi antenna
connectors are fragile, be careful when
handling during installation.

6 - TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Ensure that the WLAN network routers are
ON. The WiFi card can work at 2.4GHz or
at 5GHz. Make sure the router has DHCP
settings.
5 - SETTING THE WiFi NETWORK
Make sure the EDGE 2 Main Controller LCD screen
shows the main screen.
1. Click the Network icon at the top of the main
screen and choose Local Area Network from teh
drop down list. At that point, a list of WiFi access
points or networks will display.
2. Follow the instruction to reach the specic
network.
Problem Possible solution
Do not detect a
WIFI network
Verify if the WLAN infrastructures are ready and ON (router, access point)
Verify if the WIFI communication is allowed (router, access point)
Ensure the EDGE 2 Controller is ON
Verify if there is a WIFI card is installed in the EDGE 2
Verify if there are WIFI antennas installed in the EDGE 2
Ensure that the WIFI distance is less than 100 feet from the router or access point
If the problem persists, contact AP/Cumberland or GSI Electronics
The WIFI distance
is short
The WiFi signal has maximum coverage when the access point or router is in a non-obstructed line of sight. Wooden walls and
ceilings lower the WiFi signal strength. Metal support beams or girders will create low signal WiFi areas and metal or aluminum
covered walls will block the WiFi signal.
Ensure the router or access point is well oriented to reach the EDGE 2 Controller
It is possible that the WIFI Antenna signal attenuation is too high because the antenna cable was altered during installation
If the problem persists, contact AP/Cumberland or GSI Electronics
