The Juniper Networks SSR1500 is a 1-U xed-conguraon appliance that is ideal for large data center
or campus deployments. Powered by the Juniper Session Smart Router (SSR) soware, the SSR1500
provides secure and resilient WAN connecvity.
The SSR1500 provides high port density with four Ethernet ports and twelve SFP28 ports. The SFP28
ports support port speeds of 1/10/25 Gbps. Dual hot-swappable AC power supplies provide 1+1
redundancy.
NOTE: To use the SSR1500, you must purchase the SSR soware subscripon license that is sold
separately. You can onboard and monitor the SSR1500 in a cloud network by using Juniper
Mist™.
Benets of SSR1500
•Zero Trust Security (ZTS)—The SSR1500 ensures ZTS by authencang all routes and encrypng all
session trac. Applicaons, devices, or users cannot iniate any session that does not comply with
the authencaon policies and access rules. The SSR1500 supports Layer 2 through Layer 5 stateful
rewall funcons, including DoS/DDoS protecon, NAT, encrypon, VPN, and trac ltering.
•Adapve encrypon—The SSR1500 automacally detects trac encrypted using HTTPS or IPsec
and does not re-encrypt such trac. This capability results in improved performance and reduced
overhead due to double encrypon.
•Simplied onboarding and monitoring with Juniper Mist WAN Assurance—You can quickly onboard
the SSR1500 to the Mist Cloud using the claim code (QR code). This helps in reducing the
operaonal complexity and simplifying the deployment and conguraon process.

NOTE: Starng from SSR Release 6.0, you can manage the SSR1500 using Juniper Mist WAN
Assurance.
Field-Replaceable Units in SSR1500 Appliances
Field-replaceable units (FRUs) are components that you can replace at your site. Following are the two
types of the SSR1500 FRUs:
• Hot-insertable and hot-removable—You can remove and replace these components without powering
o the appliance or disrupng the appliance funcon.
• Hot-pluggable—You can remove and replace these components without powering o the appliance,
but the appliance funcon is interrupted unl you replace the component.
The FRUs in SSR1500 appliances are:
• Fans (hot-insertable and hot-removable)
• Power supplies (hot-insertable and hot-removable)
• Transceivers (hot-pluggable)

Figure 1 on page 4 shows the front panel of an SSR1500. The SSR1500 comes with a claim code (QR
code) that you can use to onboard the SSR1500 to Juniper Mist.
