Examine the product thoroughly:If it is damagedin any way notifythe retail store where
you purchased it.
For products supplied witha mains adapter ora detachable mains cord,if the adapter
or its leads getdamaged, it must bereplaced with an adapterof the same typeand rating.
To save power, disconnect from the mainswhen you are notusing the product unlessthe
function of the productrequiresa continuous power supply.
If the mains switchdoes not disconnect theproduct from the mains:The mains plug
shall be the maindisconnect device and shallbe operable at alltimes.
Avoid harsh conditionssuch as wet ordamp places, rain, highhumidity, strong vibration,
extremely high or lowtemperatures, strong sunlight and placesthat are very dusty.
DO NOT install or use thisproduct if you havespilt liquids in it,if it is damagedin any way,
if it has beendropped or if itdoes not work normally. Disconnect from themains and seek
expert advice.
DO NOT leave the product unattendedwhile it is operatingunless it is designedto do so.
DO NOT store this product outdoorsor expose to rainor moisture.

Power supply
Make sure the voltagemarked on the ratingplate on the rearof the product matches
the supply in yourarea.
An incorrect supply voltageis dangerous and mayresult in a fireor damage to theproduct.
The manufacturer accepts noresponsibility for any damageor injury resulting from
connecting to any voltageother than that specifiedon the rating platelocated on the back
of the product. Seethe instruction book forthe exact voltage range.

Mains plug and mainslead
We have fitted thisequipment with a standardmains plug.
If you cut offthe mains plug orfit a different type,destroy the old plug,as it is dangerousto
insert it into alive power outlet.
If a fuse isfitted to the plug,remove the fuse beforethrowing the plug away.
Carefully follow the wiringinstructions supplied with anew mains plug.
Never use a fusedmains plug without thefuse cover.
If the mains leadbecomes damaged, it mustbe replaced by themanufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualifiedperson with an approvedmains lead of thesame type and rating
to avoid a hazard.
Make sure the mainslead cannot be walkedon, crushed, chafed orcut and that itis routed
in such a wayas to reduce therisk of a trippinghazard.
Do not let themains lead hang overedge of a tableor counter or comeinto contact with hot
surfaces.
Do not immerse themains lead or mainsplug in water orany other liquid.
Mains plug wiring forthe UK
In a re wirableplug the wires inthe mains lead ofthis equipment must beconnected as
follows.
The wire coloured brownmust be connected tothe terminal that ismarked with the letterL.
The wire coloured bluemust be connected tothe terminal that ismarked with the letterN.
There is no greenor green and yellowwire. Do not connect
anything
To theEarth terminal which ismarked E, or witha
Symbol.
You mustmake sure the mainslead is firmly securedunder the cord
Clamp.
Mains fuse
UK standard (BS1363) plugsmust be fitted witha BS1362 standard fuserated at 3Aor 5A.
Ventilation
Allow at least a10cm gap all aroundthe unit. Don't obstructthe ventilation slots withsoft
furnishings. Overheating will increasethe risk of fire.
Cleaning
Disconnect the mains supplyand use only alightly dampened soft cloth.Do not use
chemical solvents or strongdetergents as these maydamage the cosmetic finish.
Never allow water dropletsto remain on thescreen as moisture cancause permanent
discoloration.
Batteries
Remove batteries when theremote control is notto be used fora long time. Batteriesleft in
the product may causedamage through deterioration andcorrosive leakage, invalidating
the guarantee. To protect the environment,use local recycling facilitiesfor disposal. Never
throw batteries on afire! Danger of explosion.

1. REMOTE CONTROL SENSOR: Used to receive the signal from the remote
control.
2. USB JACK(Optional): Used to connect to an external USB 2.0 device.

Remote Control
Remote Key Function:
1. MUTE Used to turn the sound on or off.
2. NUMBER KEYS:Used to select channel numbers or
input numbers in menus.
3.TV/RADIO: Used to switch between TV channels and
Radio stations.
4. INFO Used to display information about the channel
being viewed or further information about the programme
when in normal play mode.
5. SUBTITLE: Used to switchbetween different subtitles
that are broadcast.
6. EXIT:Used to exit all menus.
7. CH+: Used to movearound the menu screens or
select channels when not in menumode.
8. VOL+:Used to move around the menu screens or
change the volume.
9. OK: Used to confirm a selection within a menu.
11. PAGE+:Used to page up, when there are multiple
pages (i. e. channel list).
12.STANDBY Used to switch the set top box to on or
standby.
13. FAV: Used to accessyour favourite channels.
14. AUDIO:Used to select the audio language, and setthe
audio out type, stereo, left, right, meno.
10. COLOUR KEYS(RED/ GREEN/ YELLOW/ BLUE):
Used to operate different functions in teletext,etc.
Note: SUBTITLE/TEXT/AUDIO may not be available for all channels.
15. MENU:Used to open the main menu orreturn to the previous menu.
16. EPG: Used to display information about the programme being viewed and what's on next.
17. VOL-: Used to move around the menu screensor change the volume when not inmenu
mode.
18. CH- :Used to move around the menu screensor select the channels when not in menumode.
19. TEXT:Used to open the interactive digital teletextif available.
20. PAUSE:Used to pause or resume the programmebeing viewed .
21.PAGE-:Used to page down, when there aremultiple pages(i.e.channel list).

Installing the Batteries
Remove the batterycover from theremote control and install
2XAAA (notsupplied) size batteriesinside the compartment. The
diagram inside thebattery compartment showsthe correct way
(polarity) to install

Using the Remote Control
Touse the remotecontrol, point ittowards the frontof the digital set
top box Theremote control has a range of up to 7 metres from the
set top box atan angle of upto 60 degrees.
Sunlight or very bright light will decrease the sensitivity
of the remote control.
The remote controlwill not operateif its pathis blocked.
If operation ofthe remote becomeserratic then thebatteries
probably need replacing. Besure to replace themwith the same
type. Do notmix old andnew batteries, alwaysreplace both.

Caution: Make sure to checkthe voltage specification ofyour
mains supply is thesame rating as thereceiver. To prevent the risk
of electric shock, donot open the coveror the back ofthe receiver.
Connections
Note: When connecting the receiver to other equipment, e.g., TV,
VCR and amplifier, make sure to refer to relevant user manual for
instruction. Also, make sure you disconnect all the equipment from
the mains supply before making any connections.

User Interface
The 'Exit 'key will closeon screen menus .
All menus will automaticallybe removed after 30seconds unless
otherwise stated.
2) VolumeControl
A barwill be displayedwhen volume ischanged by pressing Vol+ or
Vol-. Thebar will disappear aftera predefined time followingthe last
Vol+ or Vol- key press.Automatically removed after 2seconds.
3) Mute Symbol
Pressing the Mutekey mutes thesound and a symbol is displayed,
Automatically removed after 2seconds.
4) Screen Freeze
Pressing the Pausekey will Freezethe Screen and a pause symbol
will be displayed.Press the Pausekey again to exit Freezing.
5) Direct DigitEntry
When the user initiates a channel change using the number keys,
The user can press the OK key to force the channel change before
all 3 digits have been entered. If all 3 digits are entered then the
channel change willoccur.
5 seconds after the last key press, the channel change will be
initiated if alldigits have notbeen entered.
6) TV/Radio select
Press TV/Radio buttonon the remoteto toggle betweenTV channels
and Radio stations,then you canchange among the TV channels or
Radio stations bypressing CH+/- buttons.This mode canbe
removed later if youselect a channel byDirect Digit Entry orService
Organiser.
1)Welcome Screen
When the STBis powered upfor the first time or is brought out of
standby a welcomescreen will bedisplayed. This willtell the user
to press theOK key tostart a full frequency service scan.

7) Digital Information
When viewing a digitalprogramme, a single pressof the info keywill
bring up the firstlevel of program informationshown below.This shows
the time, logical channelnumber, channel nameand 'Now' program
information. It also shows the current favourite list that hasbeen
used/selected. The informationbanner appears at thebottom of the
screen.
The user can scrollthrough information for otherchannels in the
currently selected favourites listor the full servicelist if a favouriteslist
is not enabled. Thisis done using theup and down keys.Whilst
information for other channelsis displayed the actualchannel being
viewed will not change.Pressing the OK keywill jump to thenew
channel. After achannel change, the informationbanner will be
removed after 4 seconds.In addition the usercan toggle between
'Now' and 'Next' informationusing the left andright keys. To display
'Next' information from the'Now' banner, theuser presses the right
key. ThisOSD will be semi-transparent.
7.2) First level 'Next'Information
The user can returnfrom 'Next' to 'Now'Information using the left
arrow key.
A secondpress of theINFO key will bring up the extended program
information, and exampleis shown below.

Extended Information
Again, the user willbe able to scrollthrough information for other
channels whilst still watchingthe current program byusing the P+/P-
keys. In addition, theleft and right cursorkeys will toggle extended
info for 'Now' and“Next”. Athird press of theinfo key clears allon
screen information. ThisOSD will be semi-transparent.

SUB DVB subtitles are available for this programme.
TXT AnMHEG application is availablefor this programme.
CA Thisprogramme is encrypted. Even if a CAM module is
decrypting the programme.
SUB DVB subtitles areNOT available forthis programme.
TXT AnMHEG application is NOTavailable for this programme.
CA Thisprogramme is NOTencrypted.
If none ofthe above arebeing displayed thenif the service is audio or
data only,the following will be displayed.
The programme canbe classified bythe broadcaster andwill show an
icon to tell theuser the age restrictions.

18 The eventhas an adult contentage rating. Broadcast age
rating 18+.
15 The eventis not suitable for children under the age of15.
Broadcast age rating 15-17.

8) Channel Change OSDBanner

9) Audio
Pressing the audio keywill display the followingmenu. This menu
displays all the audiostreams available on thecurrent service. The
selection is done usingthe up/down keys. Pressingthe OK key
selects the new audio.This selection is onlyvalid until power-down
or service change. Thismenu will be automaticallyremoved after 5
seconds.
Audio menu
This is the graphicseen after using CH+/CH- or when a directdigit
entry channel change iscompleted. It times outafter 4 seconds If
CH+/CH- is used thenthe new service willbe the next/previous
service in the currentlyselected favourites list. Ifno favourites list is
selected/ enabled then thefull service list willbe used. Direct digit
entry will tune toa service using itsLCN. This maynot be in a
favourite list. ThisOSD will be semi-transparentand will
automatically timeout after 3seconds.
This banner will staypermanently on the screenwhen no video can
be watched on theTV.This banner will alsodisplay the current
favourite list enabled andif the service isnew or removed.The
following messages will bedisplayed under various circumstances:

The graphics aredisplayed in thecentre of the screen.
This will beautomatically removed whenthe MHEG application
acquires the display orwill timeout after 60seconds if the MHEG
application fails tolaunch.
12) TV Guide
Pressing the EPG keydisplays the following guidemenu.
11) Data ServiceLoading
If the Teletext key is pressedon a service thatcontains an MHEG
data application anddata services havebeen enabled inthe
languages menu, thenbefore the applicationhas been fullyloaded,
this display willbe presented.
10) Subtitle
Pressing the subtitle keywill display the followingmenu. This menu
displays all the subtitlestreams available on thecurrent service and
a subtitle off option.The selection is doneusing the up/down keys.
Pressing the OK keyselects the new subtitlelanguage. This
selection is only validuntil power-down or servicechange. Enhanced
subtitle streams are indicatedby an ICON. Thismenu will be
automatically removed after 5seconds.

The guide contains allthe channels in theservice list rather thanjust
the favourites list.This allows the userto view the nowand next event
information for every serviceas well as theextended information for a
selected event.

13) Main Menu
The Main Menu contains the following options.
1. Service Organiser
Accessed from themain menu, theservice list containsthe details of
the services thathave been addedinto the system.The list canbe
scrolled through usingthe up anddown keys. Theselected channel
appears with awhite border.Channels can beviewed by usingthe
'OK' key.Channels can be deleted with the 'Red' button. Theuser
will be askedfor the PINnumber each timethey delete achannel (the
default pin numberis '0000'). The'Green' button is used to allow
service re-ordering. The'Yellow' willallow the user toedit the service
name.

An icon willbe displayed ifthe service has been added or removed
by the broadcaster.
This menu isfull screen.
Also a video/audio previewis given which showsthe program that is
currently being watched ifthe user selects the''INFO'' button the
preview will change toshow the user whatis currently being shownon
the selected/highlighted service.
The user canscroll through theservice list, select between now or
next information andalso use theRED key to add a timer
programming event. Ifthe video cannotbe displayed then one of the
following messages willbe displayed inthe preview area:

Service Organiser PIN request fordeletion
The UHF column shows the channel that the service is on.
If the user wishesto delete a service,then the first timethis is selected
the user must enterthe PIN. Thisis to prevent deletionof services
without a parent’s content.
2. Favourites
(1).Select main menu.
(2).Scroll to favourites.
(3).Press green button tocreate favourite list.
(4).Press yellow to showedit list.
(5).Scroll up/down to selectchannel.
(6).Press OK to addto list.
(7).Repeat process to addfurther channels.
2.1) Favourites Edit
Accessed from the favouritesmenu. The orderof the Favourite list
determines the order theprograms appear when theuser surfs up and
down the channels withthe CH+/CH- keys.The full service listand the
favourite list can bescrolled through using upand down. Thetwo lists
are selected by usingthe left/right keys.The selected channel appears
with a white border. When the favouritelist is selected thelist can be
re-ordered using the 'Green'key. Thefavourite list name canbe
changed by pressing the'Yellow' keywhich will bring upthe edit menu.

To re-ordera favourite service theuser must select therequired
service using the up/downkey and then usethe green key toenter re-
order mode. When thegreen re-order is selectedthe user will be
presented with another help:

2.2) Name Editor
This name editor menuis used to allowthe user to renamea favourite
group. The characterselection is done bymoving the highlight around
a character matrix andusing OK to choosethe character.The new
name is displayed atthe top of themenu. 'CAPS' is usedto toggle the
letters between upper-case andlower-case and 'Delete' isused to
backspace/delete the lastcharacter. When completethe 'Green' key
saves the new nameand exits the charactermatrix menu. The
'Yellow' keywill cancel the currentedit and return toprevious menu
with no name change.

3. Setup Menu
This menu options allowthe user toset up the system.

3.1) Languages
This menu allows theuser to set-up defaultlanguages for Audioand
OSD. The values areused on power up.In addition, the 'Audio'value
are used on channelchange.

TV Setup Menu
The options are:
Television type Selects the type of TV screen that the set-top-box is
connected to. The options are 4:3 and 16:9.
Widescreen This option is only available when 4:3 is selected in
the shape option. It is used to select what the user
requires to be displayed for 16:9 transmissions.
The options are Letterbox, Center Cutout and Full
Frame.
Enter PIN forlocked channel
The options are:
Audio Selects the default audio language to be used on power-up
and service change. The options are English, Welsh and
Gaelic, Irish
OSD Selects the default text language to be used in the menus and
off-air service information. Only English is currently available.
3.2) TV Setup
The TV setupmenu will have thefollowing options:

Standard This option setsthe SCART outputmode.
The options areCVBS, RGB, RGBprovides best
picture pliality
3.3) Parental control
The default Parentalcontrol PIN is“0000”.
3.3.1) Viewing aLocked Cannel
Selecting a channelthat is lockedresults in the following OSD being
displayed:
Entering a valid PINwill give access tothe required service. Lockingis
on a per-channel basis,so if the userswitches to another locked
channel they will haveto re-enter the PINto view it.The channel will
remain unlocked until power-down.If the PIN isnot entered then this
OSD will be displayedat all normal viewingtimes. i.e. Afterleaving the
menus this display willreturn.

The system issupplied with adefault PIN and a master
PIN. The masterPIN is intendedto be usedto over-ride theuser
supplied PIN ifit is lostor forgotten. Themaster pin is1307.
3.3.3) Parental Control Menu
Entering a validPIN gives accessto a sub menu that provides options
to change the PIN,Lock and Unlock services.
When “Change PIN”or “Lock/Unlock Services”is selected thenthe
help will changeto the following:

Selecting the option tochange the PIN takesthe user to afurther sub
menu that handles theconfirmation and storing ofthe new PIN.
The menu prompts fora new PIN.The select option allowsthe user to
edit the numbers beingentered. As eachnumber is entered, the“-”in
the display is replacedby a “*”. If the enterednumbers are not identical,
“Numbers not identical”is displayed in thegrey area.
3.3.5) Lock/Unlock Services
Selecting the Lock/Unlock Servicesoption gives access tothe service
locking menu ad shownbelow. Theprogram list is displayedand the
user can scroll throughit, using the upand down keys.The 'Select' key
is used to lockand unlock access.
The 'LOCK' Icon indicatesthat the channel islocked.
