INTRODUCTION
The Sound Associates SA652P is an infrared receiver that allowsthe user to receive wireless,
clarified sound in most facilities equipped with an infrared listening system. The receiver
conformsto standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for the hard of hearing
and usesthe latest in infrared technology.
The Sound Associates SA652P is a two-channel stereo infrared pendant receiver operating on
95 kHz (channel 1), 250 kHz (channel 2) or stereo (95 kHz -left, 250 kHz -right), requiring the
use of an additional ear piece such as neck induction loop, headphones or ear bud.
The following instructions should be read completely before attempting to use your receiver to
ensure proper set up and use of the equipment. If you require further assistance, please call our

HEADSET VS. NECK INDUCTION LOOP
The neck induction loop, used in conjunction with the SA652P body pack receiver is designed
for the individual with a more extensive hearing loss. It is used to enhance the amplification of
the user’s hearing aid. Note: The hearing aid must be equipped with a “T” switch or have a
telecoil setting to use a neck induction loop. The combination of the two devices is likely to
give the user more volume and intelligibility than with the hearing aid or headset alone.
UNPACKING THE UNIT
As soon as the shipment is received, inspect the unit and all components for damage incurred
by shipping. If the unit is damaged due to shipping, please keep all packing material and
contact the shipping company as soon as possible. Only the consignee may institute a claim
against a carrier if damage has occurred in shipping, however, Sound Associates will assist the
client in any such event.

OPERATION
Using the Receiver
The receiver is worn either around the neck (pendant style) using the lanyard or attached to a
pocket using the clip on back of the receiver. The unit should be worn at least chest high with
the dual photo-cell lens facing away from the body. The SA505 rechargeable battery must be
inserted firmly into the bottom of the receiver for use. The battery can be plugged in either
direction.
The SA652P requires a separate earpiece (such as neck induction loop, headset or ear bud)
with a 3.5 mm (miniplug) jack. The receiver’s “on/off” switch is located internally which turns the
unit on automatically when miniplug is inserted and shuts off once the earpiece is removed.A
red indicator light onthe top of the unit will illuminate once the earpiece has been connected
properly to show the unit is on.
Note: remember to disconnect the piece when not in use to avoid unnecessary drain on the
battery.
The use of a neck induction loop with the SA652P receiver requires the user to adjust their
hearing aid to the “T” switch or telecoil setting, usually the middle position on a 3-position on/off
switch. (If you are unsure if your hearing aid is equipped with a telecoil setting, check with your
audiologist.)
The volume is adjusted by the slide control located on the unit face.
Location and Use of Controls 1 -Rechargeable Battery: (Model
SA505) 2.4 volt that will run
approximately eight hours without
recharging. It can be recharged with an
adapter in any 110 volt outlet. The
battery can be plugged into the bottom
of the receiver in either direction.
2 - Dual Photo-Cell Receiving Diodes:
The diodes receive the infrared light and
convert it into sound. They must not be
blocked or covered during operation, as
this would interrupt sound reproduction.
3 - Neck Lanyard: Instead of using the
built in clip on back of unit, the lanyard
is worn around the neck. This helps
keep the receiver elevated and in line of
sight of the emitter.
4 - Input Jack/Indicator Light: The pendant receiver requires an earpiece (such as the neck
induction loop, shown) with a 3.5mm plug (miniplug). Once the plug is inserted in the jack, the
receiver is operational. The red indicator light will illuminate to show the receiver is powered on.

5 - Volume Control: A slide control adjusts the volume for the receiver. With the photo cell on
the front of the receiver facing away from you, slide the control to the left to increase the
volume.
6 - Channel Selector: The recessed selector button toggles to one of three positions: 1 for 95
kHz, 2 for 250 kHz, or S for Stereo. Note: Do not use Channel S for monaural earpieces and
neck induction loops. In the stereo setting, the plug is wired with the tip (left positive), ring (right
positive) and sleeve (ground).

WARRANTY
The SA652P receiver and the SA505 rechargeable battery are covered by a full one year
warranty, from the date of original purchase, against defects in workmanship or materials. If
either component fails due to defects in craftsmanship or materials we will repair or replace that
component without charge. The factory warranty does not cover malfunctions due to abuse or
operation other than specified.
