1. Disconnect power before installation. Turn off all power
toaffectedlightxturesbyturningoffcircuitbreakers.
Conrmthatpowerisoffatalllightxturesbefore
continuing installation.
2. IMPORTANT: UsetheprovidedFixtureandPlanlabelsto
identifythewireless-adaptedxturelocation.AttachtheFixture
labeltotheoutsideofthexture.AttachthePlanlabelatthe
xturelocationonthefacilityoorplan.
4.ConnectlowvoltagewiringfromtheWFA100-SNtotheballast,
and sensors as appropriate for your application. See Wiring
(pages 2-7).
5. Connect line voltage wiring from the supply circuit to the
WFA100-SNandfromtheWFA100-SNtotheballast.
See Wiring.

The Daintree Wireless Fixture Adapter (WFA100-SN)
formspartofDaintreeNetworkedincommercialandindustrial
buildings.Ittransmitsandreceivesmessagesoverthewireless
ZigBee®networkandcontrolslights.
FixtureadaptersareACpowereddevicesthatprovideOn/Off
switchingaswellas0-10Vanalogdimmingcontrolforballasts
and LED drivers. The WFA100-SN also provides power and signal
connections for low voltage occupancy sensors and photosensors
(daylightharvesters).TheWFA100-SNautomaticallycongures
itself for the type of sensor(s) connected to it.
TheWFA100-SNprovidesthewirelessadaptationthatenables
connected devices to communicate with the rest of the
wireless lighting control solution. The adapter also serves as
acommunicationrouterintheZigBeewirelessmeshnetwork.
ControlsignalspassbetweentheadapterandtheWireless
AreaControllerintheDaintreeNetworkedplatform.

LED Indicators
6.Checkloadcircuitsthenturnonthecircuitbreakerstopower
up the WFA100-SN. The light connected to the WFA100-SN
turns On when power is initially applied (and when power is
restored after a power failure).
7.EnsuretheWFA100-SNgreenPowerLEDisOn.
8.PressandholdtheResetbuttonontheWFA100-SNfor
3secondstoresetit.Releasethebuttonwhenthegreen
JoinedLEDandtheredErrorLEDsbeginashing.
9.Performtheinstallationtestappropriateforyourapplication.

Occupancy Sensor Time Delays Wiring
IfanoccupancysensorisconnectedtotheWFA100-SN,
thetimedelaymustbesetforminimum.WhenDaintree
Networkediscommissioned,timedelaysaresetinthe
DaintreeDCSwebapplication.TheseDCS“Offdelays”start
countingdownafterthesensor’sinternaltimedelayexpires.
Therefore,settheoccupancysensorfortheminimumtime
delay during the WFA100-SN installation.

Line voltage wiring connects to the electrical supply circuit
andtotheballast(s).Lowvoltageterminalsprovideconnections
for0-10VDCdimmingcontrolsignalstodimmingballasts.
The WFA100-SN low voltage terminals also supply low voltage
power and carry control signals from low voltage occupancy
sensors and photocells.
WhiletheWFA100-SNisinInstallationTestmode,thelowvoltage
devices directly control the lights wired to the same WFA100-SN.
AfteryouexitInstallationTestmode,thelightsturnOnandare
NOTcontrolledbythedevicesconnectedtotheWFA100-SN.
Afterjoiningthewirelessnetwork,thecontrolsignalsfromthe
low voltage devices pass through the WFA100-SN and are sent
wirelesslytoDaintreeNetworked.Dependingonthezoneand
devicecongurationinDCS,wirelesssignalsfromtheWACto
the WFA100-SN determine operation of the light(s).
Design Caution
Do not install a wireless adapter such as the WFA100-SN to
control an electrical circuit that provides power to other wireless
devices or adapters. If power to wireless adapters or devices is
shutoff,controlandcommunicationwiththemisdisabled.
Reducing noise on low voltage (0-10V) wiring
• Keep wiring as short as practical
• Keep signal lines separate from mains voltage
lines.
• Reducetheareacreatedbythesignallinesand
theGNDreturn(i.e.,keepthemclosetogether).
• IfpossibletwistthesignallinewiththeGNDreturn.
Must be installed inside a light xture, or in an
enclosure to protect people from high voltage.
Risk of electrical shock. Disconnectallpowerbeforeinstallation.
Allinstallationandmaintenanceoflinevoltageequipmentmustbe
performedbyaqualiedelectrician.TheWFA100-SNmustbeinstalled
inaccordancewithalllocal,state,andnationalelectricalcodesand
requirements.Wiringconnectorsarenotsupplied.ULrecognizedwiring
connectorsmustbeusedintheinstallation.Eachterminalcanaccept
one conductor only. Connect only one 4AWG to 16AWG (0.2-1.5 mm)
wire to any terminal.
CLASS 2 WIRING:
AlleldwiringshallbesuitableforClass1. Electric Light
andPower,orClass2,3wiringsareroutedseparately
andsecuredtomaintainseparationbetween:
1. Class2wiringandallotherclasswiring,and
2. Limited energy circuit conductors from unlimited
energy circuit conductors.

Regularpowerisbroughtintothexturefromanadjacent
xtureandconnectstotheRRU-X-UM.
WhileRegularpowerissuppliedtotheRRU-X-UMthe
WFA100-SNprovidesswitchedOn/Offpowertothe
xtureandcontrolsdimming.
WhentheRRU-X-UMsenseslossofRegularpower,itpasses
Emergencypowerdirectlytothextureanddisconnectsthe
WFA100-SN switched output. Loss of Regular power to the
RRU-X-UMdisablestheWFA100-SNdimmingcontroland
thexturewilloperateatmaximumoutput.

WhileRegularpowerissuppliedtotheRRU-2,theWFA100-SN
providesswitchedOn/OffpowertotheRegularFixtureballast.
TheWFA100-SNalsocontrolsdimmingtotheRegularFixture
andtheEmergencyFixture.TheEmergencyFixtureispowered
bytheEmergencypowercircuit.
The0-10VdimmingcircuitfromtheWFA100-SNisbrought
intotheEmergencyFixture.
WhentheRRU-2senseslossofRegularpower,theRRU-2
disconnects the 0-10V output from the WFA100-SN and the
ballastwilloperateatmaximumoutputfromtheEmergency
powercircuit.(IftheRRU-2isnotinstalled,theEmergency
FixturewilldimtominimumbecausetheWFA100-SN0-10V
output shorts when the adapter loses power.)

4Mounting
TheWFA100-SNisdesignedtobemountedinsidealightxture.
Typically,itismountedintheballastchannelusingtwoscrews
AbarcodelabelwiththeWFA100-SN’sfullIEEEaddressonitis
includedwiththeWFA100-SN.ThisistheFixturelabel.Afxthis
labeltotheoutsideofthexture.
Chooseastandardlocationsothatwhensomeonelooksfor
xturescontaininganadapter,theywillknowwheretolook
fortheIEEEaddressbarcodelabel.
Important Notices
Complete Installation Tests
Successful commissioning is dependent on testing each
wireless-adaptedlightingxtureandcontroldeviceatthetime
ofinstallation.Findinginstallationissuesordeviceproblems
earliersavessignicanttimeduringthecommissioningprocess.
Record IEEE Addresses
Ifyouhavenotalreadydoneso,besurethateachadapter’s
IEEEaddress(last4or5digits)isrecordedonthefacilityoor
plan.Youcanusethe4or5digitPlanlabelsuppliedwiththe
adapteroryoucanwritethelast4or5digitsontheoorplan.
Thisinformationwillbeusedduringthecommissioningprocess.
Afterthesysteminstallationiscomplete,amarked-upcopyof
thefacilityoorplanshowingtheidentityandlocationofeach
wirelessadapter(includingassociatedsensors)shouldbe
available.Thiswillsimplifyandexpeditethecommissioning
process.

Alllightingdevices,includingwirelessadaptersmustbetested
for proper operation.
Aftermounting,wiringlowvoltage,wiringlinevoltage,powering
upandresettingtheunit,performtherecommendedInstallation
Test. The Installation Test mode automatically times out after
5 minutes of no activity.
WhiletheWFA100-SNisinInstallationTestmode,thelowvoltage
devices connected to the WFA100-SN directly control the lights
wiredtothesameWFA100-SN.AfteryouexitInstallationTest
mode,thelightsturnOnandareNOTcontrolledbythedevices
connected to the WFA100-SN. After commissioning the
DaintreeNetworked,lightingcontrolisdeterminedby
congurationsettingsintheDaintreeControlsSoftware.

After successfully completing the Installation Test the adapter
is ready to communicate with the Daintree Wireless Area
Controller (WAC) and the Daintree Controls Software (DCS)
web-basedlightingmanagementuserinterface.Upon
commissioning,theadapter’s“Join”LEDturnsonsolidand
remains on as long as the adapter is included in the ZigBee
Network.
Afterjoiningthenetwork,thelowvoltagedevicesconnectedto
the adapter do not directly control the lights that are wired to the
same adapter. The control signals from the low voltage devices
pass through the adapter and are sent wirelessly to the Daintree
Networkedplatform.Dependingonthezoneanddevice
congurationintheDCS,wirelesssignalsfromtheWACtothe
adapter determine the operation of the light(s).
Formoreinformationaboutconguringthelightingcontrol
network,seetheinstructionsandon-linehelpprovidedwith
theDaintreeControlsSoftwarewebapplication.
The Installation Test procedure fails.
1. ConrmthattheWFA100-SNispowered.
2.ChecktheconnectionsfromtheWFA100-SNto
theballast(s)andlowvoltagecontroldevices.
3.Checktobesurethefactoryinstalledjumperson
the WFA100-SN are either in place or removed as
appropriate for the connected devices.
Ifconnectedtoa0-10Vdimmingballast,removethejumper
from the Violet and Gray terminals.
Ifnotconnectedtoa0-10Vdimmingballast,besurethe
jumperisconnectedbetweentheVioletandGrayterminals.
Ifconnectedtoanoccupancysensor,removethejumper
from the Blue and Gray terminals.
Ifnotconnectedtoanoccupancysensor,besurethejumper
isconnectedbetweentheBlueandGrayterminals.
4. PressandholdtheResetbuttonfor3secondstoreset
the adapter.
5.PerformtheInstallationTestagain.
Connected lights do not turn Off during the
occupancy sensor Installation Test.
1. Makesurethesensorisnotdetectingoccupancy.
2. Checktheoccupancysensortimedelayandmakesureitis
set for minimum.
When the Daintree Networked is commissioned, time
delays are set in the Daintree Controls Software web
application. These DCS “Off delays” start counting down
after the sensor’s internal time delay expires. Therefore,
set occupancy sensors for the minimum time delay
during the WFA100-SN installation.

Sensor(occupancyandphoto)wiringlengthsabove3mwere
not considered for immunity.
Thisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywith
thelimitsforaClassBdigitaldevice,pursuanttoPart15of
theFCCRules.Theselimitsaredesignedtoprovidereasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation.Thisequipmentgenerates,usesandradiatesradio
frequencyenergyand,ifnotinstalledandusedinaccordance
withtheinstructions,maycauseharmfulinterferencetoradio
communications.However,thereisnoguaranteethat
interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this
equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television
reception,whichcanbedeterminedbyturningtheequipment
offandon,theuserisencouragetotrytocorrectthe
interferencebyoneormoreofthefollowingmeasures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna;
• Increasetheseparationbetweentheequipment
and receiver;
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different
