1Installation Process
Installation Guide
WGA100 |DT110
1. Disconnect power before installation. Turn off all power
toaffectedlightxturesbyturningoffcircuitbreakers.
Conrmthatpowerisoffatalllightxturesbefore
continuing installation.
2. Set the WGA100 DIP switches to support the device(s) it will
monitor or control. See DIP Switch Settings (pages 2).
3. IMPORTANT:PuttheWGA100’s“Plan”label(with4-5digits
oftheIEEEaddress)ontheoorplantoindicateitslocation.
4.MounttheWGA100toajunctionboxorenclosure
approved for the application. See Mounting (page 7).
5. Connect low voltage wiring from the WGA100 to the
device(s) as appropriate for your application. See Wiring
(pages3-6).

Install in accordance with National Electric Code and local codes.

The WGA100 Wireless General Purpose Adapter forms part of
theDaintreeNetworkedwirelesscontrolssolutionforcommercial
andindustrialbuildings.Ittransmitsandreceivesmessagesover
the wireless ZigBee®networktomonitorandcontrolavarietyof
devicesusedinbuildingmanagement.
The WGA100 is an AC powered device that provides On/Off
switchingand0-10Vanalogcontrolaswellasreportingand
monitoringcapabilityofbinaryand0-10Vanalogsignalinputs
fornon-lightingapplications.Itprovidespowerforlowvoltage
sensors, switches, and analog control signals and provides the
wirelessadaptationthatenablesthemtocommunicatewiththe
rest of the wireless control solution. The control signals to and
fromthesedevicespassbetweentheWGA100andtheWireless
AreaController(WAC)intheDaintreeNetworkedplatform.
Error/Test — On when the Wireless Adapter is in an error state.
Flashes to indicate unit Reset and during Installation Test Mode (red).
Joined — On when the Wireless Adapter has joined a ZigBee
®
network.
Flashes to indicate Reset and during sensor Installation Test Mode (green).
Power — On when power is applied to the Wireless Adapter (green).
LED Indicators
6. Connect line voltage wiring from the supply circuit to
theWGA100asdescribedinWiring(pages3-6).
7.Checkloadcircuitsthenturnonthecircuitbreakers
to power up the WGA100. Device(s) connected to the
WGA100binaryoutputs[linevoltageSwitchedLoad(BO1)
and24VDCLSD(B02)]areOFFwhenpowerisinitially
applied (and when power is restored after a power failure).
8. Ensure the WGA100 green Power LED is On.
9.PressandholdtheblueRESETbuttonontheWGA100for
3secondstoresettheunit.Releasethebuttonwhenthegreen
JoinedLEDandtheredErrorLEDsbeginashing.
10. Perform the installation test appropriate for your application.
See Installation Tests (page 8).

DIPswitchsettingsenabletheWGA100interfacessothatit
can identify the types of devices connected to it for control,
monitoring, and wireless adaptation. Each of the DIP switches
enablesaseparateinterface.Interfacescanbeenabledinany
combination.
ConguretheDIPswitchsettingsonlyasshowninthisinstruction
for the devices that you connect to the WGA100.
After you change the DIP switch settings, you need to press the
blueResetbuttonfor3secondstoresettheunit.Releasethe
buttonwhenthegreenJoinedandredErrorLEDs
beginashing.
To connect a device to an interface, use the wire leads indicated in
theDIPSwitchTableandinFigure 3:WiringIdentication.
Switch 1. Binary Output: Line voltage On/Off
(Switched Load)
Thisoutputprovidesupto15A/1hpswitchedlinevoltage
(switched to Hot/Active) to the device connected to the
WGA100’s14AWGredwire.Examplesforthisoutputmay
includepoweringanelectricaloutlet,equipmentbench,
contactor, pump or motor when a space is occupied, as
determinedbyDaintreeControlsSoftware(DCS)conguration.
Switch 2. Binary Output: Low voltage, On/Off (LSD)
Thisbinaryoutputisusedtoopenandcloserelaysand
switches.Anexamplewouldbetoturnonaventilationfan,or
energizeadrycontactonasetbackthermostatwhenaroom
is occupied.
Note: WhenbothSwitch1andSwitch2areenabled,DCS
identiestheSwitch1interfaceasBO1,andtheSwitch2
interface as BO2.
Switch 3. Analog Output: 0-10V, level
controllable, multistate
Analogoutputscontrolthespeedorvariablesettingofa
device,suchasamulti-speedfan,oravalveordamperactuator.
Anexampleisahotwatervalveopeningup25%tomaintaina
set-point.
Switch 4. Binary Input: Low voltage (Blue wire)
Abinaryinputindicatesifadeviceisturnedonornot.Some
examplesofabinaryinputwouldbea24VDC/ACsignalfrom
anairowswitch,oravolt-freerelaycontact.Otherexamples
include: high or low pressure switch, high temperature safety,
thermostat,damperendswitch,dirtylterswitch,fanproving
switch,timeclock.
Switch 5. Binary Input: Low voltage (Yellow wire)
ThisinputhasthesamefeaturesastheSwitch4BinaryInput.
Note:WhenbothSwitch4andSwitch5areenabled,DCS
identiestheSwitch4interfaceasBI1,andtheSwitch5
interface as BI2.
Switch 6. Input: 0-10V analog, multistate
Analoginputsareusedtoreadavariablemeasurement.
Typical analog devices include a high or low pressure monitor,
temperature,humidityorpressuresensor,thermistor,4-20mA,
0-10voltorplatinumresistancethermometer(resistance
temperature detector), suction or discharge pressure transducer,
supply air temperature thermistor, supply static pressure sensor,
buildingpressuresensor,roomtemperaturethermistor.
All disabled.
WhenallswitchesareOff,theWGA100isinRangeExtender
mode.ItjoinsaZigBeenetworkandactsasawirelessrepeater
toincreasethewirelessnetworkrangeand/orimprovereliability.

Line voltage wiring connects to the electrical supply circuit.
TheBlack(Hot)yingleadandtheRed(SwitchedLoad)ying
leadare14AWG.TheWhite(Neutral)yingleadis18AWG.
Lowvoltage22AWGyingleadsprovideconnectionstosupply
low voltage power and carry control and monitoring signals to
and from low voltage input and output devices such as a fan
controller,humiditysensor,setbackthermostat,etc.
Afterjoiningthewirelessnetwork,thecontrolsignalsfromthe
low voltage devices pass through the WGA100 and are sent
wirelesslytoDaintreeNetworked.Dependingonthezoneand
devicecongurationintheDCS,wirelesssignalsfromtheWAC
to the WGA100 determine the operation of the devices
connected to it.
Risk of electrical shock. Disconnectallpowerbeforeinstallationand
duringservicing.DonotopenWGA100enclosure;nouser-serviceable
parts inside. All installation and maintenance of line voltage equipment
mustbeperformedbyaqualiedelectrician.TheWGA100mustbe
installed in accordance with all local, state, and national electrical codes
orCanadianElectricalCode,Part1,andinamanneracceptabletothe
local authority having jurisdiction. Wiring connectors are not supplied.
ULrecognizedwiringconnectorsmustbeusedintheinstallation.

Reducing noise on low voltage (0-10V) wiring
• Keep wiring as short as practical
• Keep signal lines separate from mains voltage lines.
• Reducetheareacreatedbythesignallinesand
theGNDreturn(i.e.,keepthemclosetogether).
• IfpossibletwistthesignallinewiththeGNDreturn.

TheWGA100isdesignedsothatitcanbemountedina
variety of ways.
Using the Mounting Bracket
ThemountingbracketincludedwiththeWGA100andshownin
theillustrationbelowprovidesascrew-mountingalternative.The
brackethasaslotthatallowswirestoremainconnectedasyou
snapthebracketontotheWGA100nipple.TheWGA100
canbesecuredattheotherendusingtheintegralscrewtab.
External to an Enclosure
Alternatively,itcanbemountedexternallytoajunctionbox
orenclosurethrougha½”knockout.
Whenthewiringconnectionshavebeendecidedandextra
(unused)wiresidentied,securetheunusedwirestokeep
them neat, out of the way, and protected against shorting or
interferencewithothercomponentsordevices.Itisbest
totrimunusedlowvoltagewirestoabout5inchesinlength,
isolatethemusingawirenutorequivalentthenbundle
andbindthemclosetotheadapter’sbody.Besurethat
unusedRedandVioletoutputwiresarecompletelyisolated
fromallotherwires.Unusedlinevoltagewiresmustbe
securelyisolatedandhousedinsideajunctionbox,or
other approved electrical enclosure.

Alldevices,includingwirelessadaptersmustbetestedfor
proper operation.
After setting the DIP switches for your application, mounting,
wiring low voltage, wiring line voltage, powering up and resetting
the unit, perform the Installation Test. The Installation Test mode
automaticallytimesoutafter5minutesofnoactivity.
Complete Installation Tests
Successful commissioning is dependent on testing each
wireless-adapteddeviceatthetimeofinstallation.Finding
installationissuesordeviceproblemsearliersavessignicant
time during the commissioning process.
ToenabletheWGA100testmode,pressthebluereset
buttononce.
Thetestmodesequentiallytestseachenableddevice(DIP
switches that are ON).
Ifthedeviceisnotenabled(DIPswitchisoff),thesystemsimply
movesontothenextenableddevice.
Toexittesting,pressandimmediatelyreleasetheresetbutton.
You may need to do this several times to cycle through the
remainingenableddevicetests.
Ifyouhavenotalreadydoneso,besurethateachwireless
adapter’sIEEEaddress(last4or5digits)isrecordedonthe
facilityoorplan.Youcanusethe4or5digit“Plan”label
suppliedwiththeWGA100oryoucanwritethelast4or5digits
ontheoorplan.Thisinformationwillbeusedduringthe
commissioning process.
Aftertheinstallationiscomplete,amarked-upcopyofthefacility
oorplanshowingtheidentityandlocationofeachwireless
adapter(includingassociateddevices)shouldbeavailable.
Thiswillsimplifyandexpeditethecommissioningprocess.

WGA100 Installation Test Mode
Record IEEE Addresses
After the Installation Test is complete the WGA100 is ready to
communicate with the Daintree Wireless Area Controller (WAC)
andtheDaintreeControlsSoftware(DCS)web-baseduser
interface. Upon commissioning, the WGA100 “Join” LED turns
on solid and remains on as long as the WGA100 is included in
theZigBeeNetwork.
Afterjoiningthenetwork,thecontrolsignalstoandfromthe
low voltage devices pass through the WGA100 and are sent
wirelesslytotheDaintreeNetworked.Dependingonthezone
anddevicecongurationinDCS,wirelesssignalsfromthe
WAC to the WGA100 determine the operation of the
associated devices.
Formoreinformationaboutconguringthelightingcontrol
network,seetheinstructionsandonlinehelpprovidedwith
theDaintreeControlsSoftwarewebapplication.

Joining the ZigBee Lighting Control Network
1Switched Line Relay output toggles on and off every
voltage relay 30 seconds for as long as the test mode
