Intended Use
This device is intended for professional use as a media player. It is suitable only for indoor installation. It is
not suitable for households.
Any other use, not mentioned under intended use, is regarded as non-intended and incorrect use.

Throughout the user manual the following text conventions are used:

2. Safety

DANGER
Danger for children
For adult use only. The device must be installed beyond the reach of children.
●Do not leave various parts of the packaging (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, etc.) within
children’s reach. Packaging material is a potential source of danger for children.
DANGER
Electric shock caused by short-circuit
This device falls under IEC protection class I.
●Make sure that the device is electrically connected to ground (earth). Connect the device only to a
socket-outlet with ground (earth) connection.
●Do not cover the ground (earth) connection.
●Do not let the power cable come into contact with other cables. Handle the power cable and all
connections with the mains with caution.
●Do not modify, bend, mechanically strain, put pressure on, pull or heat up the power cable.
●Make sure that the power cable is not crimped or damaged. Examine the power cable periodically
for any defects.
●Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids. Do not install the device in a location where
flooding may occur.
●Do not use the device during thunderstorms. Disconnect the device from the electrical power supply
immediately.
WARNING
Electric shock caused by dangerous voltage inside
There are areas within the device where dangerous touch voltage may be present.
●Do not open the device or remove any covers.
●Do not operate the device if the covers are open.
●Disconnect the device from electrical power supply before service and maintenance, and when the
device is not in use.

Power supply
●Before connecting the device to the power supply, make sure that the current, voltage and
frequency match the input voltage, current and frequency specified on the information label on the
device.
●Make sure that the cross-sectional area of the extension cords and power cables is sufficient for the
required power consumption of the device.
Attention
General safety
●Do not shake the device. Avoid brute force when installing or operating the device.
●If the device is dropped or struck, disconnect the device from the electrical power supply
immediately.
●If the device is exposed to extreme temperature variations (e.g. after transportation), do not switch it
on immediately. Let the device reach room temperature before switching it on, otherwise it may be
damaged by the formed condensation.
●If the device fails to work properly, discontinue the use immediately.
Attention
This device shall be used only for the purposes it is designed for.
This device is designed to be used as a media player. Any incorrect use may lead to hazardous situations
and result in injuries and material damage.
This device does not contain user-serviceable parts. Unauthorized modifications to the device will render
the warranty void. Such modifications may result in injuries and material damage.
Attention
Do not expose the device to conditions that exceed the rated IP class conditions.
This device is IP20 rated. IP (Ingress Protection) 20 class provides protection against solid objects greater
than 12 mm, such as fingers, and no protection against harmful ingress of water.
Requirements for the User
This product may be used by ordinary persons. Maintenance and installation may be carried by ordinary
persons. Service shall be carried out only by instructed or skilled persons. Contact your Highlite
International dealer for more information.
Instructed persons have been instructed and trained by a skilled person, or are supervised by a skilled
person, for specific tasks and work activities associated with the service of this product, so that they can
identify risks and take precautions to avoid them.
Skilled persons have training or experience, which enables them to recognize risks and to avoid hazards
associated with the service of this product.
Ordinary persons are all persons other than instructed persons and skilled persons. Ordinary persons
include not only users of the product but also any other persons that may have access to the device or
who may be in the vicinity of the device.

3. Description of the Device
The MP-100DBT is a media player. It can be installed in a standard 19-inch rack. It supports multiple
(wireless) media sources, such as: DAB+, FM radio, AUX in/out and Bluetooth. The device can be
operated manually or with the supplied IR remote control.

4. Installation and Setup
Warnings and Precautions
Attention
Connect all data cables before supplying power.
Disconnect power supply before connecting or disconnecting data cables.
Safety Instructions for Installation
Attention
Make sure there is enough space for ventilation around the device.
Do not install near equipment that produces heat, for example amplifiers.
Installation Site Requirements
●The device must be installed only indoors.
●The device can be placed on a flat surface or mounted in a standard 19-inch rack.
●The maximum ambient temperature ta= 40 °C must never be exceeded.
●The relative humidity must not exceed 50 % with an ambient temperature of 40 °C.

Rack Mounting
The device can be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack. The device requires 1 rack unit (U) of space,
which is 44,5 mm high.
Make sure that the rack is sufficiently secured to prevent it from becoming unstable or falling over.
To mount the device in a two-post rack, follow the steps below:
01) Insert 4 cage nuts in the openings on the rack posts where you want to mount the device.
02) Position the device in front of the rack posts so that the 4 x mounting openings (01) on the flanges
face the openings on the rack posts with cage nuts.
03) Using a screwdriver, mount the device to the rack posts with 4 screws.
Note: Make sure that the FM/DAB+ antenna points up.
Connecting to Power Supply
DANGER
Electric shock caused by short-circuit
The device accepts AC mains power at 220–240 V and 50 Hz. Do not supply power at any other voltage
or frequency to the device.
The device is equipped with the input voltage selector (20) that can be used for selecting of the input
voltage. Only skilled persons are allowed to operate the input voltage selector (20). The selector is, by
default, set to 230 V AC 50 Hz.
This device falls under IEC protection class I. Make sure that the device is always electrically connected
to the ground (earth).
Before connecting the device to the socket-outlet:
●Make sure that the power supply matches the input voltage specified on the information label on
the device.
●Make sure that the socket-outlet has ground (earth) connection.
Connect the device to the socket-outlet with the power plug.
Start-up
To connect and use the device, follow the steps below:
Make sure that the device is switched off. See 4.6.2. Switching On/Off on page 13 for more
information.
Connect the DAB+/FM antenna to the DAB+/FM antenna connector IN (21) and extend the
antenna.
Connect input and output devices. See 4.6.1. Setup Example on page 12.
●To connect an amplifier, use the RCA analog line-level connectors OUT (17), the unbalanced 6,3
mm TS jack line-level connectors OUT (18) or the balanced 3-pin XLR line-level connectors OUT
(19).
●To connect a smartphone, MP3 player or a laptop, use the balanced 3,5 mm TRS jack connector
AUX IN (07). When this connector is in use, the internet radio will be muted.
●To connect a dynamic microphone, use the XLR/6,3 mm jack combo microphone connector IN
(15).
●To connect a CD player or a tuner, use the (Line 1–4) RCA analog line-level connectors IN (16).
Turn the input selector (08) to set the input source.
Switch on the input devices (e.g. audio mixer, CD player).
Switch on the device. See 4.6.2. Switching On/Off on page 13 for more information.

Set your preferred language and adjust other settings. See 5.3. Settings Menu on pages 22–24 for
more information.
Switch on the speakers.
Select functions. See 5.2. Functions on pages 14–21 and 5.7. Remote Control on pages 26–27 for
more information.
Adjust the settings:
●Turn up the volume controls on the device and set the characteristics of the media player. See
5.4. Adjusting Bass/Treble/Volume on page 25 for more information.
●Set the volume of the device. See 5.5. Setting Device Volume on page 25 for more information.
●Set the characteristics of the microphone. See 5.6. Adjusting the Microphone Settings on page
25 for more information.

Switching On/Off
The device has a power button.
●Press the power button (03) to switch on the device. If the power LED indicator (Blue) (02) is on, the
device is powered.
●Release the power button (03) to switch off the device.
Upon start-up, the display shows the start screen (Fig. 06). If it is the first start-up, the device will search for
DAB+ radio stations. It happens only once.
Press the MODE button (F) to enter the previously used function (Fig. 07).

Note:
If no button is pressed, after the pre-set amount of time of inactivity, the display will switch off. Press any
button to switch the display on. See 5.3.8.1. Backlight on page 24 for more information.
Stand-by
You can activate stand-by when you are not using the device.
●Press and hold down the MODE button (F) for 2 seconds to activate stand-by. The display shows the
current time and date and the control buttons do not function.
●Press the MODE button (F) to deactivate stand-by. The display will return to the last used function
mode.

5. Operation

●Use the VOLUME +/FORWARD button to navigate through the main menu, to scroll through the
available options, to stop auto scan, to manually tune the radio, to select radio stations/music files or
to increase the volume.
●Use the STOP button to stop playback, to enter the settings menu, to return to a previous screen or to
toggle radio station information screens.
●Use the PLAY/PAUSE button to start auto scan, to confirm your choices or to enter the submenus.
●Use the REPEAT button to set playback mode and to load/save presets.
●Use the MODE button to select functions or to return to the main menu.
●Use the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button to navigate through the main menu, to scroll through the
available options, to stop auto scan, to manually tune the radio, to select radio stations/music files or
to decrease the volume.

FM Radio Mode
In this menu you can search for FM radio stations, select them and listen to them. If needed, you can
manually tune the radio stations and save presets.
Press the MODE button (F) until the display shows:
Auto Scan
In this menu you can search for available FM radio stations.
Press and hold down the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) for 2 seconds to start an auto scan. The display shows:
The device scans for all available FM radio stations and automatically saves them as presets. The device
can save up to 30 FM presets. When a scan is complete, the device activates the first (P1) of the saved
presets:

Selecting Radio Stations
In this menu you can select the saved FM presets.
Press the REPEAT button (E). The display shows:
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to select one of
the saved FM presets.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) to confirm. The device will activate the selected FM preset.
Manual Tuning and Saving Presets
If the sound quality of an FM preset is not good enough, you can tune it manually and save changes.
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to manually tune
the signal, in increments of 0,05 MHz.
Press and hold down the REPEAT button (E) for 2 seconds. The display shows:
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to select one of
the 30 preset slots.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) to confirm. The changes are saved and the display shows:
Viewing Radio Station Information
You can view the information about the currently active radio station.
Repeatedly press the STOP button (C) to toggle different information screens, such as time, date, name of
the radio station, music genre, frequency and signal type.
Note:
The contents of each screen depend on the currently active radio station. Some radio stations do not
display any information.

Aux Mode
In this menu you can play music files from the audio devices connected to the Balanced 3,5 mm TRS jack
connector AUX IN (07) or to the (Line 1–4) RCA analog line-level connectors IN (16).
Press the MODE button (F) until the display shows:
Turn the input selector (08) to activate a desired input.
DAB+ Mode
In this menu you can search for DAB+ radio stations, select them and listen to them. If needed, you can
save selected radio stations as presets, to be able to access them easily.
Press the MODE button (F) until the display shows:
Auto Scan
In this menu you can search for available DAB+ radio stations.
Press and hold down the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) for 2 seconds to start an auto scan. The display shows:
The device scans for all available DAB+ radio stations and it shows (in real-time) the number of found
DAB+ radio stations. When a scan is complete, the device activates the first of the found radio stations:

Selecting Radio Stations
In this menu you can select the found DAB+ radio stations.
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to select one of
the found DAB+ radio stations. The display shows:
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) to confirm. The device will activate the selected DAB+ radio station.
Saving Presets
If you want to listen to only a few DAB+ radio stations, you can save them as presets, for easy access.
The device can save up to 30 DAB+ presets.
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to select one of
the found DAB+ radio stations. The display shows:
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) to confirm. The device will activate the selected DAB+ radio station.
Press and hold down the REPEAT button (E) for 2 seconds. The display shows:
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to select one of
the 30 preset slots.

Selecting Presets
In this menu you can listen to the previously saved DAB+ presets.
Press the REPEAT button (E). The display shows:
Press the VOLUME +/FORWARD button (B) and the VOLUME –/BACKWARD button (G) to select one of
the saved DAB+ presets.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (D) to confirm. The device will activate the selected DAB+ preset.
Viewing Radio Station Information
You can view the information about the currently active radio station.
Repeatedly press the STOP button (C) to toggle different information screens, such as time, date, radio
station name, signal strength, music genre, country of origin, signal error report, frequency and data
transfer speed.
Note:
The contents of each screen depend on the currently active radio station. Some radio stations do not
display any information.
Bluetooth Mode
In this menu you can stream Bluetooth signals from your mobile devices (smartphones, tablets,
notebooks, etc.).
Press the MODE button (F) until the display shows:
For this function to work, you need to pair your mobile device and the MP-100DBT via Bluetooth.
Note:
Bluetooth can only be used as a means to receive wireless audio signals. It is not possible to pair the
device with other devices via Bluetooth.
