1. Pull the spring lock latch to open the tray and
slide in your hard drive.
2. Push the hard drive tray door in to secure the
hard drive.
3. Use the included keys to lock in the hard drives.
When system configures as RAID mode, it’s
recommend to lock the tray door, to prevent
rebuilt due the HDD accidental remove
4. Connect USB or FireWire cable to the host
computer and the back of the UF8-R5J.
5. Plug AC cord and Turn on the power, The
default mode of our UF8-R5J is a JBOB Mode
6. Refer to following section to configure the
storage system as RAID5, 3, 10, CLONE,
SPAN… and other.
Introduction:
UF8-R5J is an One-to-Five SATA PM ware RAID/JBOD
enclosure with USB2.0 and FireWire host connection featuring
tray-less and Direct-Air bottom fan
UF8-R5J is designed to provide up to five (5) SATA drives in
various configurations: RAID levels: 0/1/3/5/10/PM/Clone and
JBOB (JBOD is default configuration).
With an easy configuration scheme, our UF8-R5J can function
as JBOB up to five drive a perfect back up device for daily
backup as Mon to Friday using various backup software for
auto scheduling.
UF8-R5J has a self-contained storage processor chip and raid
engine embedded, when used completely frees up the main
CPU loading, make it an ideal for use in external storage
applications
Configurations
Directmode
1. Configure the storage policy
To configure the storage policy, set the rotary switch to the
desired position. See below figure
a) Push and Hold “Change Mode Button” switch
b) Power ON UF8-R5J
c) Release Change Mode Button” switch when
enclosure sounds a beep
d) Check with Disk Manager, the new raid volume should
be listed
2. Change the storage configuration
To change the storage configuration, set the rotary switch to
PM (Port Multiplier) position. Keep the “Change Mode Button”
pressed for 3 ~ 5 seconds while power on to delete the old
virtual volume.
Turn off the power and repeat steps in “Configure the storage
policy” section above.
The new raid set will be created.
