The Visa®Smart Breakthrough Program is designed to simplify the EMV migration
process for Visa issuers and to improve the business case for chip migration. Datacard now
offers turnkey card personalization solutions as part of this Visa program which includes
everything you need to personalize Visa®credit/debit smart cards—from hardware and
software to a complete package of professional services.
A fully integrated EMV solution
Datacard offers two standard Visa®Smart Breakthrough solutions. A high-volume solution
includes a smart card module upgrade for existing Datacard®9000 and 7000 Series card
issuance systems (up to 1,000 smart cards per hour). A low-volume solution includes a
new Datacard®280P card personalization system (approximately 500 smart cards per day).
High-volume issuance solution:
• Datacard®9000 or 7000 Series 3-station smart card module (upgrade)
• Datacard®Smart Card Personalization Manager software (SCPM) and personal
computer (PC)
• P3 Data generation software and PC
• GlobalPlatform script interpreter
• Cryptographic devices

• Datacard®280P card personalization system
• Datacard SCPM software and PC
• P3 Data generation software
• GlobalPlatform script interpreter

Group. Special solution pricing is available to Visa members under the Visa®Smart
Breakthrough Program.
Issuers looking to purchase a new Datacard®9000 or 7000 Series card issuance system,
or those who already have an existing Datacard®desktop printer, should contact their
Datacard authorized solutions provider for pricing.
Supports all major cards and applications
The special Visa Smart Breakthrough program pricing includes support for:
• Single Visa®Smart Debit/Credit (VSDC) payment application on one of the following
card types:
– Visa®Smart Breakthrough cards ($.99 card)
– Visa®TIBC 3.0 card
– GlobalPlatform Java cards
– Cards supporting Common Personalization Specification (CPS)
Other smart card programs, including proprietary cards and non-payment applications,
can also be supported by this solution. Datacard can customize the software to provide
custom audit files, data formatting, unattended operations and many other capabilities to
meet your unique requirements. Contact your Datacard authorized solutions provider for

applications and scripts from any GlobalPlatform-compliant vendor in the future.
