fee in the mill. The machine is, however, guaranteed to be
new.
• You should customise water hardness as soon as possible
following the Instruction for use in the section“14. Setting
water hardness”.
1. Plug the appliance into the mains socket and place the
main switch (A8) on the back of the appliance in the Iposi-
tion (g. 1).
You must rst choose the language (the languages scroll
through at intervals of about 3 seconds):
2. When“English”appears, press the button (B9 - g. 2)
for a few seconds until“ENGLISH set”is displayed.
Follow the instructions indicated on the appliance display:
3. “FILL TANK”: remove the water tank (A9), ll to the MAX
line with fresh water (g. 3A), then replace in the appli-
ance (g. 3B).
4. Place a container with a minimum capacity of 100 ml
under the cappuccino maker (A19) (g. 4).
5. “TURN STEAM DIAL”: turn the steam dial (A20) to the I po-
sition (g. 4).“HotWater Conrm?”appears on the display;
6. Press the button to conrm. The appliance de-
livers water from the cappuccino maker then goes o
automatically.
7. Turn the steam dial to the Oposition.
The coee machine is now ready for normal use.
Please note :
• When setting up the appliance, you need to make 4-5 cups
of coee or 4-5 cappuccinos before the appliance starts to
give satisfactory results.
• To enjoy your coee even more and improve the perfor-
mance of your appliance, we recommend installing a water
softener lter (C4) as described in the section “15. Water
softener lter” (if provided). If your model is not provided
with a lter, you can request one from De’Longhi Customer
Services.
6. TURNING THE APPLIANCE ON
Please note :
• Before turning the appliance on, make sure the main
switch (A8) on the back of the appliance is in the Iposition
(g. 1).
• Each time the appliance is turned on, it performs an auto-
matic preheat and rinse cycle which cannot be interrupt-
ed. The appliance is ready for use only once this cycle is
complete.
Danger of burns!
During rinsing, a little hot water comes out of the coee spouts
(A12) and is collected in the drip tray (A17) underneath. Avoid
contact with splashes of water.
• To turn the appliance on, press the button (B2 - g.
5). The message“Heating up, Please wait”is displayed.
When heating is complete, the message changes to“Rinsing”. As
well as heating the boiler, this also heats the internal circuits by
circulating hot water.
The appliance is at temperature when the message indicating
the taste and quantity of coee appears.
7. TURNING THE APPLIANCE OFF
Whenever the coee machine is turned o after being used to
make coee, it performs an automatic rinse cycle.
Danger of burns!
During rinsing, a little hot water ows from the coee spouts
(A12).
Avoid contact with splashes of water.
To turn the appliance o, press the button (B2 - g. 6).
The appliance performs a rinse cycle then goes o.
Please note :
If the appliance is not used for an extended period, place the
main switch (A8) in the Oposition.
Important!
To avoid damaging the appliance, never place the main switch
in the O position until the appliance has been turned o using
the button.
8. MENU SETTINGS
When you access the settings menu by pressing the P(B3) but-
ton, the following menu items can be selected: Descale, Adjust
time, Auto-o, Auto-start, Set temperature, Energy Saving,
Water hardness, Set language, Install lter, Replace lter, Beep,
Default values, Statistics.
8.1 Descaling
For instructions on descaling, see the section“13. Descaling”.
8.2 Adjust time
To adjust the time on the display (B1), proceed as follows:
1. Press the Pbutton (B3) to enter the menu;
2. Turn the selection dial (B5 - g. 8) until “Adjust time” is
displayed;
3. Press the button (B9 - g. 2);
4. Turn the selection dial to change the hours;
5. Press the button to conrm;
6. Turn the selection dial to change the minutes;
7. Press the button to conrm.
