Microprocessor based Gas Detector for Carbon Monoxide (CO)
series “GAS ALARM DG510/CG”
2 Alarm Levels
Visual and Audible Signalization of
Activated Alarm Levels
2 SPDT 5A/250V Output Relays
Electrochemical Gas Sensor
I. APPLICATION
The single-channel gas detector “DG510/CG” is purposed for signaling anytime, when
concentration of carbon monoxide (CO) exceeds permissible limits. It is applicable in
underground garages, automobile workshops and engine testing stands, chemical industry
factories and other areas, where toxic CO concentrations can be found. The sensor element is
an electrochemical cell, which eliminates any possibility of false alarms. The gas detector
has a standard range of 0÷350 ppm CO (up to 1000 ppm on request) and two alarm levels –
pre-alarm “ALARM 1” and alarm “ALARM 2” – connected with 2 SPDT 5A/250V output
relays. If the concentration of CO exceeds the set pre-alarm level an integrated buzzer starts
emitting repeated short beeps, the LED “ALARM 1” is lighted up and the output relay “REL
1” is activated. The relay output may operate a ventilation system in order to clear the air in
the room. When the concentration drops with 10% below the set pre-alarm value, the output
relay is deactivated. If despite the ventilation the CO concentration exceeds the set alarm
level, the buzzer starts emitting a continuous signal, the LED “ALARM 2” is lighted up and
“REL 2” output relay is activated, which can operate a siren, a semaphore system, barriers,
alarm lights or other systems to restrict the access of people to the dangerous area until the
concentration drops below the alarm level. To suit customer’s needs there is an option to
adjust the concentration values for pre-alarm and alarm levels via switches and a button,
placed on the circuit board.

III. MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Mount the gas detector in areas with normal risk of fire at heights of 10-15 cm below
the ceiling or at the height of a man, measured from the floor.
When mounting, the following factors have to be considered:
vibrations presence
The Sensor is vibration-sensitive, so the gas detector should either be mounted in a
place where vibrations are not present, or measures for their reduction have to be taken.

dust and water presence
In areas with a high degree of dust loading, use a dust-proof filter, which at the same
time should not obstruct the freeway from gas to sensor. In damp areas a water drop
protection has to be made.
IV. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The gas detector “Gas Alarm DG510/CG” is calibrated with a standard gas mixture
and by correct mounting no additional settings and calibration should be necessary. After
switching on the power supply follows an initial activation process of the sensor for 1-2 min.
After this process the gas detector enters a standard operation mode.
4.1. Visual and audible alarm
- Clean air
The green LED “ON” is blinking, no sound alarm
- CO concentration has reached or exceeds the pre-alarm level “ALARM 1”
The red LED “ALARM 1” is lighted up, repeated short beeps every 2s
- CO concentration has reached or exceeds the alarm level “ALARM 2”
The red LED “ALARM 2” is lighted up, continuous sound alarm
4.2 Programming the alarm levels of “Gas Alarm DG510/CG”
4.2.1 Setting the pre-alarm level “ALARM 1”
Switch G should be switched to ‘1’ (see Fig.1). Using the switches B, C, D and E can
be set the desired pre-alarm level, according to Table 1. Then the button should be pressed
and hold for about 10 sec. If the newly adjusted value is saved successfully the buzzer will
emit a short beep. After this procedure the switches should be put back to default positions as
shown in Fig. 1 („ABCDEFGH” = „00000000”).
4.2.2 Setting the alarm level “ALARM 2”
Switch H should be switched to ‘1’ (see Fig.1). Using the switches B, C, D and E can
be set the desired alarm level, according to Table 1. Then the button should be pressed and
hold for about 10 sec. If the newly adjusted value is saved successfully the buzzer will emit a
short beep. After this procedure the switches should be put back to default positions as
shown in Fig. 1 („ABCDEFGH” = „00000000”).
