Whenmeasureing point topoint resistance(Rtt):
lPlace twoelectrodesno closer than 2"fromthe
edge ofthe surfacebeing measured.
lPlace twoelectrodesno closer than 3"toany
groundablepoint.
lPlace twoelectrodesabout 10"apart fromeach
other forRtt measurementsofaworksurface.
lPlace twoelectrodesabout 3'apart fromeach
other forRtt measurementofafloor.
Preferableelectrode placementsinclude:
lMost commonlyused areaofasurface
lMost wornarea
lCenter ofsurface
lFurthest areafromagrounded point
Ifthe surface tobe measured has sections (i.e. floor
tiles, garment panels), place twoelectrodes on
different sections for Rtt measurements.
Clean the material’ssurface for test lab
measurements, but do not clean thesurface for
materialsthat arealreadyinstalled. Onlyclean and
re-test the installedmaterialiffailureoccurs.

section6.4PeriodicWorksurface Testing:
1.Donot cleanthe surface.
2.Removefromthe surfaceonlythose itemsthat
might interferewiththe test. ESD sensitive
devices shallalso beremoved.
3.Connect the blacktest leadtoagrounded point.
4.Connect the red test lead tothe Single-Surface-
Electrode, thenplacethe electrode
convenient point on the surface.
5.Pushthe red pushbutton toperformatest.
Shouldthe 15-secondelectrification period
appear, it maybe bypassedbypushingthe red
pushbutton asecond time.
6.Pushthe right blackpushbutton tosavethe
Measurement ifdesired.
7.Performadditionalmeasurementsbyplacingthe
electrode on the most commonlyusedor worn
area.
