D-Zero Basic Rigging Guide
D-Zero rigging –A Rough Guide
Step 1, Mast tie down rope - put bowline in 1 end, loop loose end over gooseneck and tie off
on bowline.
Step 2, Gooseneck locking lever on port side, it won’t then interfere with outhaul

Step 3, Kicker should work straight out of box with no adjustment required!!
Step 4, Outhaul through outhaul line floating block and tie off with bowline around mast

Step 5, Yellow rope supplied on boom for clew downhaul, red rope with floating block is for
outhaul, through clew and knot in slot at aft end of boom.
Step 6, Downhaul/Cunningham - purple rope with bottom mini block needs shortening so
that it’s about 3 inches from deck ring, tight bowline in end around gooseneck

Step 7, Control line tails - Kicker tied to Starboard, other 2 to Port (all down to personal
preference)

Step 8, Use black short length of loose shockcord for inhaul (Tack), tie off halyard to bowline
on shock cord from front of mast bearing. Tidy the halyard and place under mask chock
security shockcord.

Step 9, Centreboard –bungee loop around mast (other option is to take it though bow loop)
some people may like also to pack out the case which can be done with self-adhesive
packing material such as Velcro.

Step 10 (optional), for easier righting from an inversion stick the non-slip strips provided
onto the topsides, just below the gunwale and in line with the daggerboard if not already
fitted.
Notes:-
•We recommend a loop of rope of 5 or 6mm rope through the bow eye long enough
to go over the pointy bit at the front for easy handling when launching and
recovering.
•Tape boom sock to boom as mainsheet and outhaul rope organiser. Approximately
halfway between boom block and end of boom.

up a Devoti D-Zero.

Some Tuning thoughts from Dan Holman:
1) Clew –Have this tied down really tight to the boom
2) Traveller –This needs to be as tight as possible with the traveller no further in the
400mm from the centreline in lighter airs. This should be eased out as the breeze
builds.
3) Mast foot cup –Aft position
4) Mast chocks –For the lighter sailor may 10-15mm of chocks in front of the mast ring
5) Outhaul –Start with 150mm gap and pull on more as the breeze builds
6) Kicker/Vang –Pull on upwind, progressively more as the wind builds, there should be
no issues getting under the boom.
7) Cunningham –Pull on progressively from 10-12kts as you start to feel overpowered
General hints and tips:
In the wind just keep her on her feet, maybe raise 150 or 200mm of dagger to help. Off wind
let the controls off and tighten the toestrap for the reaches.
