DANGEROUS!
The breathing apparatus is not intended for operation under water. Attempts to use the breathing
apparatus under water may result in serious injury or death.
In the case of short-term accidental immersion of the breathing apparatus into the water (for up
to 15 seconds) with a filled breathing bag and without the lung demand valve operation, lighter
inhalation and an increased exhalation breathing resistance is observed. In the case the lung demand
valve trips after the completion of the inhalation phase, the apparatus continues to supply oxygen
to the breathing bag and to the atmosphere through the relief valve.
When immersing a breathing apparatus in water, observe the following rules:
• try to preserve the horizontal position of the breathing apparatus;
• try to have a full breathing bag and, if possible, avoid deep breaths, which may lead to the
lung demand valve tripping;
• if the lung demand valve trips, make a sharp exhalation to stop the oxygen supply and, upon
removal of the breathing apparatus from water, make 2-3 sharp exhalations.
The breathing apparatus supplies a gas mixture for breathing at a nominal working duration
(hereinafter referred to as the «NWD») for 4 hours and insulates the user from the surrounding
atmosphere that may be contaminated or lacking oxygen for breathing.

Р-30ЕХ (EN 145:1997+A1:2000) | (PPE Regulation 2016/425/EU: Category III) DEZEGA
6
The use of the breathing apparatus is only allowed under the following conditions:
• the user has passed special training and is allowed to work using the breathing apparatus
according to medical indications as established;
• the oxygen cylinder is filled with oxygen up to the operating pressure;
• the absorbent cartridge is filled with absorber;
• a water ice cube is used as a cooling element at ambient temperature above +26 °C;
• the breathing apparatus is regularly serviced and checked in accordance with this Manual
and has no deviations from the parameters specified herein;
• the breathing apparatus undergoes required maintenance by the user or at an authorized
service center once a year.
Actual NWD for a particular user may differ from the nominal NWD due
to the impact of various factors.
The actual NWD may be aected by:
• physical fitness of the user (poor physical fitness of the user may be the reason of increased
oxygen consumption);
• nature of the work performed (the more actively the users work, the more oxygen they
consume);
• emotional state of the user (an anxious or excited user can consume more oxygen);
• condition of the breathing apparatus (poorly serviced or poorly adjusted breathing
apparatuses may have a leak);
• improperly filled absorbent cartridge;
• cylinder pressure before use (if the cylinder is not filled completely, the working time is
reduced proportionally).
DANGEROUS!
In some cases, the actual NWD of the breathing apparatus may be less than 4 hours. Users who
are unfit, stressed-out, of a large build, who work in dicult conditions, as well as uninformed users
or users who do not keep the breathing apparatus in a good condition will spend oxygen much faster.

2. PURPOSE, DESIGN AND OPERATION PRINCIPLES
OF THE BREATHING APPARATUS
The breathing apparatus is designed to protect the user’s respiratory system from the harmful eects
of respiration in an IDLH atmosphere during the performance of mine rescue, emergency rescue,
and technical operations in coal mines and other industrial facilities.
The breathing apparatus ensures reliable protection of the human respiratory system in an atmosphere
that contains insucient oxygen or contains toxic gases and coal dust. The breathing apparatus is
designed for operation at an air temperature of -20 °C to +60 °C, relative humidity of up to 100 %
at +40 °C, and atmosphere pressure of 70-125 kPa.
The breathing apparatus is a self-contained device that supplies pure oxygen. The breathing gas
mixture circulates in a closed respiratory circuit. Soda lime CO2absorber absorbs carbon dioxide
contained in a mixture of gases exhaled by the user. In the breathing bag, the gas mixture is enriched
with oxygen from an oxygen cylinder. At low and normal respiration frequency (resting state, walking
at a normal rate), oxygen is supplied to the breathing bag through a constant flow dosing valve. At
an increased breathing frequency, an additional amount of oxygen is fed through the lung demand
valve or the manual bypass valve. The breathing mixture heated by the regeneration reaction passes
through the cooler. In order to reduce the temperature of the inhaled gas mixture (and thereby
minimize the user’s discomfort), as well as during work at an elevated ambient temperature, the
cooling element (a water ice cube) is placed into the cooler of the breathing apparatus. Grinded
ice may be used as a cooling element. The facepiece of the breathing apparatus is represented by
a full-face mask or a mouthpiece with smoke goggles and a headset.
The breathing apparatus is equipped with a signal that trips if the cylinder pressure drops below
5.5 MPa (hereinafter referred to as the «pressure drop signal device»).
The breathing apparatus is also equipped with a device that signals that the cylinder valve is closed
or that there is no oxygen in the system (hereinafter referred to as the «no oxygen signal device»).

19
7.2. Regenerative cartridge filling device
The device consists of:
1. A funnel for soda lime absorber;
2. A tensioner for pulling the movable partition;
3. A tamper for compacting soda lime in cartridge.
You may order a catalogue of breathing apparatus parts
and components from your local dealer of ТМ DEZEGA
or download it from the website www.dezega.com.
Fill the regenerative cartridge in two ways:
• using a tamper;
• using a funnel.
7.3. Filling the regenerative cartridge using a tamper
• Press the clips together and remove the regenerative cartridge plug. Make sure no soda lime
absorber remains in the regenerative cartridge.
• Pull the hook of the tensioner through the hole of the regenerative cartridge bottom mesh.
• Spin the nut until the springs are compressed and the partition comes in contact with the
base plates.

Р-30ЕХ (EN 145:1997+A1:2000) | (PPE Regulation 2016/425/EU: Category III) DEZEGA
20
• Install the tamper casing on the cartridge neck and pour in soda lime absorber in three or four
portions, compacting it with a slight tap of the palms on the side of the cartridge casing. After
tapping no longer results in visible compaction, fill in soda lime absorber to about 3/4 of the
tamper casing. Insert the cover with a rod into the case and compact the soda lime absorber
with an energetic hit of the cartridge casing with your palm.
• Pour or remove soda lime absorber until the stock goes all the way down.
• Unscrew the collar nut and remove the tamper from the cartridge. Squeeze the spring lock
of the plug with your thumb and index finger, put it on the cartridge neck and insert both
protruding clip arches under the lower (inner) end of the neck.
• Remove the tensioner. To do this, unscrew the nut and pull the hook out of the loop hole.
7.4. Filling a regenerative cartridge using a funnel
The cartridge may also be filled using a funnel. In this case, when compacting the last portions
of soda lime absorber, slightly press it with your fingers through the neck, while simultaneously
tapping on the side of the cartridge casing with the palm of your other hand. The level of soda lime
absorber must coincide with the edge of the neck.
• Place the funnel on the regenerative cartridge and fill in soda lime absorber in three or four
portions, compacting it with a slight tap of the palms on the side of the cartridge casing.
• After filling, remove the funnel and install the plug on the neck.
After installing the plug (regardless of the regenerative cartridge filling method) remove the remains
of soda lime absorber through the necks by shaking the cartridge. To remove small fractions of soda
lime absorber, blow with air through the necks for 1 min (flow rate: (200-400) l/min).
Weigh the cartridge with an accuracy of 5 g and compare to its weight before filling. The weight of
soda lime absorber must be at least 2.3 kg. Install the relief valve in place and secure it with a collar
nut. When shaking a filled cartridge, there must not be movement and overfilling of the entire weight
of soda lime absorber.
Replace the spare regenerative cartridge as described above but do not install a relief valve on the spare
cartridge. Instead, screw plastic plugs onto the three necks, weigh the cartridge before and after filling,
and seal it. It is recommended to impress the crew, team, department, and the date of cartridge filling
on the seals.
CAUTION!
Do not fill the regenerative cartridge with used, unsieved, or overdue soda lime absorber.
