To turn the fire off completely keep the control kno depressed and continue turning clockwise until the off
position is reached. (See fig 31).
INITIAL OPERATION
Due to newness the fire may give off a slight smell for a short period after commissioning, this will disappear
after a few hours operation.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Whilst the fire meets the required safety standards additional guarding is recommended to give protection to
the young, elderly, and the infirm. Fitting a fireguard, which complies, with current regulations can provide
extra security.
The appliances have een designed to meet the requirements of EN509, and other relevant safety standards,
ut during use parts of the Hot ox casing may ecome HOT. It is therefore recommended that a suita le
fireguard to BS6539 “Fireguards for use with solid fuel appliances” e used where the very young or infirm are
concerned.
Never allow ru ish to e thrown on to the coal ed of the appliance, or otherwise distur the fuel ed. Any
hearth at the front of the fire should never e covered with com usti le flooring or materials.
The chimney should e checked annually to ensure continued clearance of com ustion products, and that
there is no excessive uild up of soot. It is recommended that the fire also e inspected/checked on an annual
asis y a CORGI registered engineer.
CLEANING
Cleaning should e carried out only when the fire is turned off and Cold. If the fire has a ack ox, the
rassware on the fire may e cleaned using an appropriate metal polish, care should e taken not to let the
metal polish come into contact with the paintwork, as metal polished, steel wool, solvent and vitreous enamel
cleaners will harm the paintwork.
The flame effect of the fire may deposit some soot onto the coals, whilst light powdery deposits are accepta le,
large deposits will need to e removed, along with any de ris, which may have collected. This can e done
using a soft rush. Remove the coals for cleaning. Dust down using soft rush. Check the urner and
remove any deposits, which may have collected, again y using a soft rush.
It is advised that a vacuum cleaner should not e used
.
REMOVING AND REPLACING COAL
Ensure that the fire and pilot are turned OFF and that the fire is cold.
In time due to expansion and contraction, the "coals" may settle. It is suggested that the coals unless
satisfactory e re-arranged. The settlement of the coals may cause minor a rasions and expose some white
spots. These spots usually add realism to the fire when in operation.
If coals are to e replaced or re-arranged then remove the existing coals and replace as descri ed in
Installation Instructions (pages 12-14).
Note: - coals can e rotated a out their positions as an aid to alancing the flame picture. This should only e
done y using a pair of long handled tongues.
Ensure that NO coals are in such a position that they could ecome unsta le and fall off the fire ed.
It is important to use only that num er of coals stated in these instructions.
Hands should e washed after handling coals. -
