Introduction
Thank you for purchasing Contact Notebook Webcam from DICOTA.
The following information will guide through the installation and use of
Contact.
System requirements
1. Minimum Pentium 166 MHz.
2. USB port.
3. Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista, CD-ROM drive, color monitor, mouse
and keyboard. For video conferences, an internet connection must be
available.

Driver installation
NOTE: Please uninstall all previously installed webcams BEFORE
installing DICOTA Contact. DO NOT CONNECT DICOTA Contact TO
THE COMPUTER UNTIL ITS DRIVER IS INSTALLED!
1. Insert the included CD into the CD-ROM: The auto-run menu window
will pop-up, click “next” to confirm the driver installation.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
3. When the installation process is completed, the following screen will
appear.
4. Click “Finish” to complete the installation. Now, the shortcuts
“HAmcap” and “Zoom” will appear on your computer desktop.
5. Plug the USB cable into the computer’s USB Port, and restart your
computer.
HAmcap usage
After the driver installation, you can preview images and set the adjust-
ments on the settings window, which is located in the software that comes
with the product.
Image-preview
Click on the desktop and the HAmcap image application will pop up.
Alternatively, access the program via the “Start” menu. In both cases, the
following window will appear.

If HAmcap image fails to appear, please select the “Preview” options
located in the “Options” menu:
Device description
Go to “Devices” and select “USB PC Camera H”.
Properties page configuration
Go to “Options”, then select “Video Capture Filter”.
The Properties configuration page will pop-up as shown below:

Most settings can be adjusted here.
Advanced settings
DICOTA Contact offers special effects for images and special effect for
videos. You will find there are 15 special effect settings, and it will allow you
to operate easily and edit the images more efficiently.
Adjustable focus description
DICOTA Contact can provide 10 different adjustable focus functions under
CIF(352x288) resolution, accompanying digital adjustable control pole;
Level-sliding zoom image and the special filter make images more clear.
See the control page and select the options after adjusted focus ‘+’ ‘–’
or select digital adjustable focus control pole.

NOTE: It totally supports Instant Messenger software under 352×288,
320×240, 176×144, 160×120 etc. resolutions.
Checking the camera connection
1. Plug the USB cable into the computer’s USB port.
2. Restart your computer when installation is completed.
3. Double click “My Computer” > Control Panel > System > Device
Manager > Imaging Devices; if you see “USB PC Camera H”, then
your camera is now installed.
For Windows 2000/XP:
Double click “My Computer” icon->Control Panel->System->Hardware->
Device Manager->Imaging Device; if you see “USB PC Camera H”, then
your camera is installed.
Uninstalling driver
Click “Start” from the task bar and choose “Programs”. Select “USB PC
Camera H”->“Uninstall” and follow the instructions.

Troubleshooting
Question 1: Computer cannot detect DICOTA Contact
Solution: Check if the computer’s operating system, BIOS or USB port
are malfunctioning or if errors occured during the installation.
Steps: Windows 95 does not support USB ports. You have to update
your operating system to Windows 98 or above to support USB ports
and ensure BIOS setup and USB settings are available. If the problem
still occurs, please try connecting DICOTA Contact to your computer via
another USB socket.
Question 2: My video image is too dim or too bright
Solution: Adjust the brightness and background contrast.
Steps: As DICOTA Contact can easily be affected by light, we suggest
increasing the object brightness or moving the light source.
Question 3: Color is defective
Problem: After installation, you find the image quality not to be as
expected. Is the color part defective?
Solution: Adjust the color settings related to video snapping course
options or have the color settings related set as “default“.
Question 4: Blank screen or black screen
Symptom: During the usage course after the image frame pops up,
a blank or black screen will occur.
Method 1: Make sure the driver is properly installed.
Method 2: Ensure the “Preview” under “Option” tab is selected and
applied.
Method 3: If your computer’s operating system is the first version of
Windows®98, then you need to update it to Windows®SE or higher or
download DirectX8.0 or a higher version, install it and restart your computer.
Question 5: Blue screen occurs during the course of usage
Method 1: Check if the USB power is constant, as DICOTA Contact is
easily affected by power fluctuations. If the USB power wave is too large,
then such a problem can occur. You may use another computer to test it.
Method 2: Check if the driver conflicts with other computer hardware
devices.

Question 6: Internet video isn’t as smooth as expected
This issue is caused by two reasons:
1) The actual internet bandwidth is not enough and you are suggested
to modify the conference properties to decrease the video occupying
bandwidth or to reduce the number of programs running on your com-
puter.
2) Please check the computer CPU rate and if it is too high then please
decrease it by reducing the number of programs running on your
computer.
Question 7: Why does the system always ask me to install the driver
after I have already done that?
Because you plugged in DICOTA Contact before the driver installation.
Please follow the steps below to repeat the installation.
1. Unplug the DICOTA Contact from your computer;
2. Uninstall the former HAmcap driver;
3. Restart your computer;
4. Install the driver;
5. Restart your computer;
6. Connect DICOTA Contact to your computer and let it search the
hardware;
7. Restart your computer, and you should find it is ok now!

lation von Contact führen und Ihnen zeigen, wie Sie die Funktionen von
Contact voll ausnutzen können.

Installation des Kameratreibers
HINWEIS: Bitte deinstallieren Sie alle vorher installierten Webcams, be-
vor Sie DICOTA Contact installieren. SCHLIESSEN SIE DICOTA Contact
NICHT AN DEN COMPUTER AN, BEVOR DER TREIBER INSTALLIERT IST!
1. Legen Sie die CD ins CD-Laufwerk. Das Fenster des Autostart-Menüs
wird erscheinen, klicken Sie “Weiter”, um die Treiberinstallation zu be-
stätigen.

2. Folgen Sie der Anleitung auf dem Schirm, um den Installationsprozess
abzuschließen.
3. Nach der Installation erscheint dieser Hinweis:
4. Klicken Sie “Beenden” um die Installation abzuschließen. Nun werden
die Verknüpfungen “HAmcap” und “Zoom” auf dem Desktop Ihres
Computers erscheinen.
5. Schließen Sie das USB-Kabel an den Computer an und starten Sie den
Computer neu.
HAmcap-Nutzung
Nach der Installation des Treibers können Sie eine Vorschau von Bildern
nutzen und die Einstellungen unter dem entsprechenden Reiter der Grafik-
Software, die mit dem Produkt geliefert wird, ändern.
Bildvorschau
Klicken Sie die Verknüpfung auf Ihrem Desktop oder gehen Sie über
“Start” und “Programme” zu “USB PC Camera H” und klicken Sie “HAm-
cap”. In beiden Fällen startet die Software wie unten dargestellt.

Falls das Bild nicht erscheint, wählen Sie bitte “Vorschau” unter dem
Menüpunkt “Optionen”:

Die Gerätebeschreibung finden Sie unter “Geräte” und
“USB PC Camera H”.
Einstellungen
Wählen Sie “Optionen” und “Kameraeinstellungen”.

Die meisten Einstellungen können hier geändert werden.
Erweiterte Einstellungen
DICOTA Contact bietet Spezialeffekte sowohl für Bilder wie auch für
Videos. Sie finden 15 Einstellungen für Spezialeffekte, was Ihnen die Arbeit
erleichtert und erlaubt, die Grafiken effizienter zu bearbeiten.
Fokuseinstellungen
DICOTA Contact verfügt über 10 Fokusfunktionen unter der Auflösung CIF
(352x288), gepaart mit einem digital einstellbaren Regler . Mit dem Zoom-
Regler und speziellen Filtern können Sie Grafiken schärfen und glätten. Den
manuellen Zoom können Sie unter dem Punkt “Zoom” aktivieren und mit
‘+’ und ‘–’ regeln oder unter dem Punkt Zoom-Regler anwählen.

HINWEISE: Contact unterstützt Instant Messenger Auflösungen wie
352×288, 320×240, 176×144, 160×120 etc.
Überprüfen der Verbindung der Kamera
1. Schließen Sie das USB-Kabel an den USB-Anschluss Ihres Computers
an.
2. Starten Sie den Computer neu, nachdem die Installation abgeschlos-
sen ist.
3. Doppelklicken Sie “Arbeitsplatz” > Systemsteuerung > System > Gerä-
te-Manager > Bildbearbeitungsgeräte. Wenn Sie den Eintrag “USB PC
Camera H” sehen, ist Ihre Kamera korrekt installiert.
Für Windows 2000/XP:
Doppelklicken Sie “Arbeitsplatz” > Systemsteuerung > System > Gerä-
te-Manager > Bildbearbeitungsgeräte. Wenn Sie den Eintrag “USB PC
Camera H” sehen, ist Ihre Kamera korrekt installiert.
Deinstallation des Treibers
Gehen Sie über “Start” zu “Programme”. Wählen Sie “USB PC Camera
H” > “Deinstallieren” und folgen Sie den Anweisungen.

Fehlersuche
Frage 1: Der Computer findet DICOTA Contact nicht
Lösung: Überprüfen Sie, ob Probleme mit dem Betriebssystem, BIOS,
USB-Anschluss oder der Installation vorliegen.
Vorgehensweise: Windows 95 unterstützt keine USB-Anschlüsse. Sie
müssen Ihr System mindestens auf Windows 98 aktualisieren, um USB-
Anschlüsse verwenden zu können und sicher zu stellen, dass BIOS und
USB-Einstellungen verfügbar sind. Falls das Problem weiterhin vorliegt,
versuchen Sie, DICOTA Contact über einen anderen USB-Anschluss zu
verbinden.
Frage 2: Das Videobild ist zu dunkel oder zu hell
Lösung: Stellen Sie die Helligkeit und den Kontrast ein.
Vorgehensweise: Da DICOTA Contact sehr leicht durch Lichteinflüsse
beeinträchtigt werden kann, schlagen wir vor, dass Sie die Helligkeit
erhöhen oder die Lichtquelle bewegen.
Frage 3: Farben sind fehlerhaft
Problem: Nach der Installation entspricht die Bildqualität nicht Ihren
Erwartungen. Ist der Farbbereich fehlerhaft?
Lösung: Verändern Sie die Farbeinstellungen der Videoaufnahme oder
stellen Sie die Farbeinstellung auf die Voreinstellungen zurück.
Frage 4: Leerer oder schwarzer Bildschirm
Symptom: Nach der Aufnahme wird der Bildschirm schwarz oder zeigt
nichts an?
Methode 1: Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Treiber korrekt installiert ist.
Methode 2: Stellen Sie sicher, dass “Vorschau” unter “Optionen” aktiviert
ist.
Methode 3: Falls Ihr Betriebssystem die erste Windows 98-Version ist,
müssen Sie Ihr Betriebssystem mindestens auf Windows 98 SE aktuali-
sieren oder mindestens DirectX8.0 installieren.
Frage 5: Blauer Bildschirm erscheint während der Nutzung von
DICOTA Contact
Methode 1: Überprüfen Sie, ob die USB-Stromversorgung in Ordnung
ist, da DICOTA Contact dadurch leicht beeinflusst wird. Ist die Stromver-

sorgung zu hoch, kann ein solches Problem auftauchen. Verwenden Sie
DICOTA Contact an einem anderen Computer, um dies zu verifizieren.
Methode 2: Überprüfen Sie, ob der Treiber mit anderen Hardware-Kom-
ponenten auf Ihrem System Probleme verursacht.
Frage 6: Videobild per Internet ist nicht so flüssig wie erwartet.
Dieses Problem wird durch zwei Faktoren beeinflusst:
1) Die eigentliche Bandbreite ist nicht ausreichend und es wird vorge-
schlagen, die Videokonferenzeinstellungen zu ändern oder die Anzahl
offener Programme zu minimieren.
2) Bitte überprüfen Sie die CPU-Auslastung und minimieren Sie die Anzahl
offener Programme, falls der CPU zu stark ausgelastet ist.
Frage 7: Warum will das System, dass ich den Treiber immer wieder
installiere?
Da Sie DICOTA Contact vor der Treiberinstallation mit dem Rechner ver-
bunden haben. Bitte folgen Sie diesen Anweisungen, um das Problem zu
beheben:
1. Trennen Sie DICOTA Contact von Ihrem Computer.
2. Deinstallieren Sie den HAmcap-Treiber.
3. Starten Sie den Computer neu.
4. Installieren Sie den Treiber.
5. Starten Sie den Computer neu.
6. Schließen Sie DICOTA Contact an den Computer an.
7. Starten Sie den Computer neu, die Meldung sollte nicht mehr
erscheinen.
