2Product overview
The DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB Adapter installs quickly and easily into
PCs. The adapter can be used in Ad-hoc mode to connect directly with other wireless adapters
for peer-to-peer file sharing or in Infrastructure mode to connect with a wireless Access Point
or router for access to the Internet in your office or home network.
The DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB Adapter allows you to connect with IEEE
802.11b/g/n networks at up to 150Mbps. DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB
Adapter provides you the flexibility to connect to wireless products found in homes,
businesses, and public wireless hotspots. In either mode, your wireless communications are
protected by industrial-strength WPA, so your data stays secure.
3System requirements
The following system requirements are recommended
USB 1.1 (2.0 preferable) Type A interface
An IEEE 802.11b/g/n Access Point (for Infrastructure mode) or another IEEE
802.11b/g/n wireless adapter (for Ad-hoc, peer-to-peer networking mode).
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 Operating System
100MB of available disk space
CD-ROM drive

4Driver and hardware installation
4.1 DriverinstallationofDGWN3150NWirelessLAN
USBAdapter
Insert the wireless LAN USB adapter into an empty USB 1.1/2.0 port of your
computer (as shown in Fig 4-1) when computer is switched on.
Never use force to insert the adapter.


The following message will appear on your computer (Fig 4-2), click ‘Cancel’.


Insert the Installation software CD into the CD/DVD ROM drive of your computer,
and execute ‘Setup.exe’ program. Please select Setup Language and then click ‘Next’
to continue.
Note1: The following installation was operated under Windows XP. (Procedures are
similar for Windows 2000/Vista.)
Note2: If you have installed the Wireless PC Adapter driver & utility before, please
uninstall the old version first.


Please wait while the installation procedure is running.

After the installation is completed, please select the radio button for “Yes, I want to
restart my computer now.” and click ‘Finish’.

5Connecting to a wireless network
After installation is complete, wireless configuration utility will be shown on the
desktop of your computer automatically. You will also see an icon at the lower-right
corner of your windows system. You can right click the icon using mouse key, and
select the ‘Open Config Utility’option.

Configuration utility will scan for wireless access points and will connect to any
unencrypted wireless access point automatically. If you wish to connect to another
access point, select the access point and double click it. If the wireless access point
you wish to connect is not displayed in the “Available Network(s)” widow (shown in
Fig 5-2), then please click ‘Refresh’.


If the wireless access point uses encryption, you need to enter a WEP key or WPA
preshared key, which may be obtained from the network administrator. After entering
the valid key, click ‘OK’.
If the wireless access point is successfully connected, you will see a symbol
appearing against the wireless access point SSID.



6FAQ
Following are the solutions to problems that may occur during the installation and operation
of the DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB Adapter.
1. I cannot communicate with the other computers linked via Ethernet in the
Infrastructure configuration.
Make sure that the PC on which the DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB
Adapter is installed is powered on.
Make sure that your DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB Adapter is
configured on the same channel and with the same security options as with the other
computers in the Infrastructure configuration.
2. What should I do when the computer with the DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB
Adapter installed is unable to connect to the wireless network and/or the Internet?
Ensure that the LED indicators on the wireless access point/router are functioning
properly. If not, then verify whether the AC power and Ethernet cables are firmly
connected.
Ensure that the LED indicators for the access point/broadband router are indicating
normal activity. If not, there may be a problem with the broadband connection.
Verify that the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings are correctly
entered for the network.
In Ad-hoc mode, both wireless clients will need to have the same SSID. Please note
that it might be necessary to set up one client to establish a BSS (Basic Service Set)
and wait briefly before setting up other clients. This prevents several clients from
trying to establish a BSS at the same time, which can result in multiple singular BSSs
being established, rather than a single BSS with multiple clients associated to it.
In Infrastructure mode, make sure the same Service Set Identifier (SSID) is specified
on the settings for the wireless clients and Access Points.
Verify whether the network connection for the wireless client is configured properly.
If security is enabled, ensure that the correct encryption keys are entered on both the
DIGISOL DG-WN3150N Wireless LAN USB Adapter and the Access Point.
