W y recording?
T e first goal of a professional lig t programmer is to select a lig t desk and
learn to use it in t e best way, because t is means freedom of expression and productivity.
T e DMXPen products range improve t is concept taking care of recording w at t e lig t
programmer realize w it is preferred equipment.
W y carry?
Often t e lig t programmer presence is not necessary during t e s ow playback, so
e can realize t e s ow and record it so t e user as only t e duty to activate is playback (i.e.
fair boot , s op, club, etc.)
Moreover doing t is wit a normal lig t desk, mean carry eavy or expensive equipment t at
usually are not so familiar to t e users (i.e. barman, custodian, etc.).
T is is anot er issue improved from t e DMXPen products because contains only t e s ow
engine wit a simple user interface at a very low cost.

SET UP/CONNECTION
Wire t e needed line and t e power supply on t e provided removable connector (be
sure t at t e screw up is correct). Be sure to ave t e microSD card inserted on t e
socket (t e product is supplied wit t e microSD card inserted on t e socket).
Note: t e device do not as a main ON/OFF switc and is necessary remove power
supply to make maintenance.

INPUT CIRCUIT

OUPUT CIRCUIT
T e digital outputs are open drain mosfet and t e equivalent output circuits for all 4 output are:
A clamp diode for inductive load is internally provided and we suggest to connect t e positive load to
t e +V OUT COM as indicated in t e figure above. Maximum positive load voltage is 24VDC.

DEVICE CONFIGURATION
DMXPen Control Box as an on board user interface provided to configure t e device.
T is user interface consist in a main page and a configuration menu.
Main Page
Display device activity t at can be:
1. ArtNet - DMX Conversion, w ere t e ArtNet frame rate is also indicated (t e arrow indicates
data flow from ETH port to DMX port)
2. DMX - ArtNet Conversion, w ere t e DMX frame rate is also indicated (t e arrow indicates
data flow from DMX port to ArtNet port)
3. S ow Playback, w ere t e frame counter is also indicated
4. S ow Recording, w ere t e frame counter is also indicated
Configuration Menu
Menu Level 1 Menu Level 2 Description
PLAYBACK
PLAY START Allow to select s ows and start playback
PLAY STOP Stop any playback running
PLAY MODE Allow to configure t e playback mode between t ese 2 options:
1. DMX+ARTNET (t e s ow playback frames are transmitted
on bot DMX and ArtNet port)
2. DMX ONLY (t e s ow playback frames are transmitted on
DMX port only)
POWER ON
MODE
Allow to configure t e power on be aviour between t ese 3
options:
1. NO SHOW (at power on ControlBOX perform ArtNet to DMX
or DMX to ArtNet conversion regarding t e data flow setup. No
playback is activated before any user or I/O request)
2. LAST SHOW (at power on ControlBOX start playback of t e
last s ow started before power off. T is constrain ControlBOX
to store on eac playback start action t e s ow number on t e
internal EEProm. Remember t at t is memory area can be
writed 10,000 times)
3. SELECTED SHOW (at power on ControlBOX starts once t e

REMOTE CONTROL
DMXPen ControlBOX is provided wit t e standard DMXPen engine t at allow remote
control t roug MIDI interface or PenSuite software tools (PenSuite is a free software
tools available on t e device micorSD card or on www.dmxpen.com web site in bot PC
and MAC OS version).

MAINTENANCE / CLEANING
No special maintenance operation are required for DMXPEN ControlBOX.
Anyway remember to unplug t e device from t e power supply during maintenance and
cleaning operation.
Moreover we suggest to make a backup copy of t e s ow file stored on t e microSD card
using a PC connected or ot er card reader device.
Use only dry cleaning clot to clean DMXPen ControlBOX. Do not use cleaning solvent or
was ing powder.
