This unit complies with safety standard EN60950-1 as appropriate. The unit shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with
liquids, such as coffee cups, shall be placed on the equipment. To ensure safe operation and to guard against potential shock hazard or risk of fire, the
following must be observed:
o Ensure that your mains supply is in the correct range for the input power requirement of the unit.
oEnsurefuses fitted are the correct rating and type as marked on the unit.
oTheunitmust be earthed by connecting to a correctly wired and earthed power outlet.
oThepower cord supplied with this unit must be wired as follows:
Live—Brown Neutral—Blue Earth—Green/Yellow

1.1 Dolby Digital Cinema Network Overview
Figure 1‐1showsatypicalDolbyDigitalCinemanetwork.Inthisexample,aDolbyShow
Storeinauditorium1sendsencryptedandencodedcontenttoaDolbyShowPlayerinthe
sameauditorium.TheDolbyShowManagersoftwaremonitorsandcontrolstheentire
theatrecomplex(whichcanincludebothdigitalandfilmprojectors,asshownin
Figure 1‐1).
WhenDolbyDigitalCinemasystemsareinstalledinotherauditoriums,theShowStorein
eachauditoriumcansendcontenttoitslocalShowPlayerandruntheShowManager
Client(alongwithproperlyequippedremotePCs).However,onlyoneShowStore(inthis
example,theShowStoreinauditorium1)canfunctionastheShowManagerServerforthe
entiretheatrecomplex.Atthetimeoftheinstallation,oneoftheShowStoresisdesignated
astheShowManagerServerbyaDolbyauthorizedtechnician.TheDolbyDigitalCinema
presentationsystemcanfunctionwithorwithouttheDolbyShowManagersoftware.

audioandvideocontentfiles,andservesanA/VbitstreamtoitsassociatedDolbyShow
Player.TheDolbyShowPlayerdecodesanddecryptsthebitstream,sendingthevideoto
theassociatedscreen’sprojectorandtheaudiototheassociatedscreen’sDolbyDMA8Plus
(orasimilarlyequippedDolbyCP650).

Power Supply LED Indicators
ThreepowersupplyLEDsonthefrontpanelindicatewhetherthepowerison,ifoneofthe
redundantpowersupplieshasfailed,andthetemperatureoftheunit.
Power: This green LED lights when the Show Store has power.
Powersupplyfailure:ThisredLEDisoffduringnormaloperation.Itlightsor
flashesredifeitheroftheredundantpowersuppliesfails,inwhichcaseanalarm
buzzeralsosounds(fordetails,seeReplacingaShowStorePower Supplyon
page 48).
Temperature:ThistricolorLEDglowsgreenwhenthetemperatureoftheunitis
cool;yellowifthetemperatureiswarm;orredifthetemperatureishot.IfthisLED
isyelloworred,theoperatingenvironmentmaybewarmerthanexpectedandin
needofmodification.Insuchacase,callyourDolbyauthorizedtechnical
representativeimmediately.

RS-232 Serial Port
Thisportisprovidedtoconnecttoatheatreautomationsystemthatcanutilizeaserial
connection.Forthistypeofconfiguration,anadditionalunit,suchasaprogrammablelogic
controller(PLC),isrequired.YoucanturnontheSerialAutomationfunctionandenterthe
commandstringswithinShowManager(asdescribedinthatapplication’sonlineHelp

Additional Automation Capabilities
IfaproblemoccursintheShowStoreorShowPlayerthatinterruptsplayback,theDolby
DigitalFailSafefeaturecandetecttheproblemandcommunicatewiththetheatre
automationsystemtoperformthedesiredfunction(forexample,toturnthehouselights

2.1.5 Launching Show Manager
WhenyoustartupaShowStore,theShowManagersoftwarelaunchesautomaticallyand
appearsonaconnectedmonitor.
YoucanuseShowManagertobuildandscheduleshowsandperformothertheatre
managementtasksforalltheauditoriumsinatheatrecomplex.TorunShowManageron
theDolbyShowStore,amonitormustbeconnectedtothemonitorport,andaUSB
keyboardandUSBmousemustbeconnectedtotheShowStore’srear‐panelUSBports.

2.1.6 Installing Show Manager Software
TheShowManagersoftwareispreinstalledonallShowStores.ToinstallShowManager
onaremotePCconnectedtoaDolbyDigitalCinemanetwork,contactyourauthorized

Caution: WhenstartinguptheShowStore,ifakeyboardisconnectedandanykeyis
accidentlypressed,theunitwillnotbootup.Forthisreason,youmaywantto
