yourselfwiththeseterms,elements,andconventionshelpsyousuccessfullyperformtasks.
Terms and Writing Conventions
Thefollowingtermsandwritingconventionsareusedinthisguide:
•Thephone:ThistermreferstotheDolbyConferencePhone.
•Tap:Thistermreferstotouchinganitemonthescreenwithyourfingerandthen
liftingyourfinger.
• Press:Thisactionreferstodepressingakeyorpressingascreenitemforasecondor
two.
•Pressandhold:Whenyoupressandholdascreenitem,youneedtotouchthescreen
forasecondortwobeforeliftingyourfinger.
•Tapsubmenus:Thisconventiondescribeshowtoaccesssubmenus.Iftheinstructions
indicatetotapSettings>Preferences>Clear Personal Data,taptheSettingssubmenu,
tapthePreferencessubmenu,andthentaptheClear Personal Datasubmenu.
•Select:Selectinganitemonthescreenreferstotappingtheitemsothatanotherscreen
opens.
•Scroll:Thisactiondescribeshowtoviewliststhatappearonmorethanonescreen.To
scrollthroughitemsorlists,touchthescreen,andthendragyourfingerup,down,
left,orright.Tostopscrolling,stopthedraggingmotion.
•Swipe:Thisactionmovesalistofitemsup,down,left,orright.Whenyouwantto
scrollquickly,swipeyourfingeracrossthescreen,eitherup,down,left,orright.To
stopyourscreenfromscrolling,pressyourfingeranywhereonthescreen.Touching
thescreenwhileitscrollsdoesnotselectanything.
• Button:Thistermreferstoanyphysicalbuttononthephoneconsole.Phonebuttons
includemicrophonemuteandvolumeupanddown.
•Heldcall:Thistermdescribesanycallthatisheld.Audioforheldcallscannotbe
heardinbothtransmitandreceivedirections.
•Activecall:Thistermreferstoanycall,includingconferencecalls,youarecurrently
in.Anactivecallhasaudioassociatedwithit.
•Actionbutton:Thistermdescribesthetouchableareathatdesignatestheactionyou
canperformontheselectedobject.
• Onscreenkeyboard:ThistermreferstotheQWERTYkeyboardthatdisplaysonthe
screen,allowingyoutoenteruppercaseandlowercasecharacters,numbers,and
specialcharacters.
• Onscreenkeypad:Thistermreferstothekeypad—allnumberkeys,theasterisk(*),
andthenumbersign(#)—thatdisplaysonthescreen,allowingyoutoenterpasscodes
orphonenumbers.
