Before you start to use the applia ce, please read the i stallatio a d operati g
i structio s carefully.
The refrigerator is desig ed for i stallatio i leisure vehicles such as carava s or
motorcarava s. The applia ce has bee certified for this applicatio i accorda ce with
EU Gas Directive 90/396/EEC.

Never use a aked flame to check the applia ce for leaks.

Whe disposi g of the refrigerator, remove all refrigerator doors a d leave the

If you smell gas:

Never ope the cooli g u it; it is u der high pressure.
Work on the gas, flue system and electrical components must only be
carried out by qualified service personnel.
It is imperative that the operati g pressure should correspo d to the data give o
the model plate of the applia ce.
Compare the operati g pressure data give o the model plate with the data o the
pressure mo itor of the liquid gas cyli der.
Liquid gas cyli ders may o ly be cha ged by qualified perso el.
Gas operatio of the applia ce is ot permitted while travelli g o ferries.

The refrigerator is not suitable for the proper storage of medications.
Coolant
Ammo ia is used as a coola t.
This is a atural compou d also used i household clea i g age ts (1 litre of
Salmiak clea er co tai s up to 200g of ammo ia - about twice as much as is used i
the refrigerator). Sodium chromate is used for corrosio protectio (1.8% of the
solve t).

Cleaning
Before usi g the refrigerator, it is advisable to clea the applia ce both i side a d
out.
Use a soft cloth a d lukewarm water with a mild deterge t.
The ri se the applia ce with clea water a d dry thoroughly.
Remove dust from the refrigerator u it at yearly i tervals usi g a brush or soft cloth.

Using the refrigerator
The cooli g u it is sile t i operatio .
Whe the applia ce is first put i to operatio , there may be a mild odour which will
disappear after a few hours. E sure the livi g area is well ve tilated.
The freezer compartme t should be cold about o e hour after switchi g o the
refrigerator.
The refrigerator will take several hours to reach its operati g temperature.
Controls
Note:
The refrigerator is equipped to operate off mai s power, DC or liquid gas.
The desired power optio is selected by mea s of e ergy selector switch (A).
E ergy selector switch (A) has four setti gs: AC mai s power, DC (12V),
gas (liquid gas), O (off).

Electrical operation
1. 12V DC
The refrigerator should only be used while the motor is running.
1. Set e ergy selector switch (A) to.
The refrigerator operates without thermostatic
control (continuous operation).
2. Mains power
This optio should o ly be selected where the supply voltage of the co ectio
for power supply correspo ds to the value specified o the data plate.
A y differe ce i values may result i damage the applia ce.
Gas operation
The refrigerator should only be operated using liquid gas
(propane, butane). Do not use town gas or natural gas.
If the refrigerator is operated during travel using gas, the precautions
stipulated by the legislation in the respective country must be taken (in
conformity with the European standard EN 732).
Operating the refrigerator with gas is not permitted during travel in
France and Australia.
As a basic rule, operation using gas is prohibited in petrol stations.

2. Automatic ignition
4. Keep rotary switch "B" depressed for a other 10-15 seco ds, the release.
5. If the flame goes out, the ig itio system will repeat the ig itio process automatically.
6. Adjust the temperature i the mai refrigerator compartme t usi g rotary switch "B".
All refrigerators, whether manual or automatic ignition, are equipped with
automatic flame protection, which automatically cuts off the supply of gas
approximately 3 seconds after the flame goes out.
When using for the first time, and after changing the gas cylinder, the gas
pipes may contain air. By means of brief operation of the refrigerator and
any other gas appliances (e.g. cookers), air is removed from the gas pipes.
The gas will then ignite without delay.

At ambie t temperatures of +15°C up to 25°C, set the k ob B to the
middle position. The cooli g u it works with optimal performa ce.

Defrosting
As time goes by, frost builds up o the fi s.
Whe the layer of frost is about 3mm thick, the refrigerator should be defrosted.
1. Switch off the refrigerator, as described i Sectio 5.3 - "Switchi g off".
2. Remove the ice cube tray a d food.
3. Leave the refrigerator door ope .
4. After defrosti g (freezer compartme t a d fi s free of frost), wipe the cabi et dry
with a cloth.
5. Use a cloth to mop up the water from the freezer compartme t.
6. Switch the refrigerator back o agai .
The layer of ice must ever be removed forcibly, or may defrosti g be
accelerated usi g a heat source.
Note:
Water thawi g i the mai compartme t of the refrigerator ru s i to a appropriate
co tai er at the back of the refrigerator. From there, the water evaporates.
Storing food
Always store food i sealed co tai ers, alumi ium foil or similar.
Never put hot food i to the refrigerator; always let it cool first.
Products that could emit volatile, flammable gases must ot be stored i the
refrigerator.
Store quickly perishable foods directly ext to the cooli g fi s.
The freezer compartme t is suitable for maki g ice cubes a d for short-term
storage of froze food.It is ot suitable as a mea s of freezi g foods.
Making ice cubes
Ice cubes are best froze over ight. At ight, the refrigerator has less work to do a d
the u it has more reserves.

Maintenance
Works on gas components and electical installation may only be carried out
by authorised personnel. We recomme d to co tact your Dometic Service
Ce tre.
EN 1949 stipulates that the applia ce´s gas equipme t a d its associated fume
system must be i spected after i stallatio a d a certificate issued.
Afterwards a qualified tech icia must i spect accordi g to EN 1949 every two
years a d a certificate issued.
It is the users responsibily to arrange for inspections after purchase.
It is recomme ded that the gas bur er be i spected a d clea ed as ecessary at
least o ce a year.
Product liability
The product liability of Dometic GmbH does ot cover damage due to improper use or
a y modificatio s or damage caused by the effect of e viro me tal i flue ce o the
device or i direct proximity to the device as a result of this effect, e.g. temperature
fluctuatio s a d humidity.
Environmental hints
Refrigerators ma ufactured by Dometic GmbH are CFC-free.
Ammo ia (a atural compou d of hydroge a d itroge ) is used i the cooli g u it
as a coola t. The o -ozo e-hazardous cyclope ta is used as a propella t i the
ma ufacture of the PU foam i sulatio .
Disposal
I order to e sure that the recyclable packagi g materials are re-used, these should
be se t to the usual local collectio system.
The applia ce should be tra sferred to a suitable waste disposal compa y that will
e sure re-use of the recyclable compo e ts a d proper disposal of the rest.
For eco-frie dly drai i g of the coola t from all absorber refrigeratio u its, a suitable
disposal pla t should be used
Energy-saving tips
At a average ambie t temperature of approx. 25°C, it is sufficie t to operate the
refrigerator at the middle thermostat setti g (for both gas a d mai s voltage).
Where possible, always store goods that have previously bee cooled.

Defrost regularly.
Ope the door o ly for a short time whe removi g goods from the refrigerator.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
O i stallatio of the applia ce, the tech ical a d admi istrative regulatio s of the
cou try i which the vehicle will first be used must be adhered to. Otherwise the
refrigerator must be i stalled as described i these i structio s. I some OEM applica-
tio s it may ot be possible for these i structio s to be followed exactly. I this case a
authorised Dometic represe tative may issue suppleme tary i structio
In Europe, for example, gas appliances, cable laying, installation of gas
cylinders, as well as approval and checking for leaks must comply with
EN 1949 for liquid gas units in vehicles.
Installation
The applia ce a d its fume extractio shall be i stalled i such a way as to be acces-
sible for servici g at all times a d must be capable of easy removal a d i stallatio .
The appliance may only be installed by authorised personnel.
Installation and connection of the appliance must comply with the latest
technical regulations, as follows:
European Standard EN 1949
European Standard EN 732
The electrical installation must comply with national regulations
( EN 1648-1 , EN 1648-2 , EN 6 335-2-24 for Europe).
The gas installation must comply with national regulations.
Local and building control department requirements
The appliance shall be installed in such a way that it is shielded from
excessive heat radiation.
Excessive heat impairs performa ce a d raises the e ergy co sumptio of the
refrigerator.
Side Installation
If the applia ce is i stalled o the same side of the vehicle as the e tra ce
door, it is desirable that the door does ot cover the refrigerators ve ts.
If this ca ot be avoided there must be a gap of at least 25mm betwee the door a d
the ve ts.
Rear installation
If the refrigerator is mou ted at the rear of the vehicle you must e sure the lower grille
is ot covered by the bumper or rear lights.
This would be preve t the air from circulati g properly a d cause problems i
warm weather.

Draught-free installation
The refrigerator must be sealed in accordance with EN 1949.
Illustrated below are two typical approved methods of seali g.
Proposal 1:
Using the Installation Sealing Kit from Dometic
(SP
.No. 241 2559-00, available from Dometic)
I sert lipped seals (A) i to the i stallatio
recesses at the bottom a d at each side.
I sert deflector plate (B), fitted with a lipped seal
(A) of heavy-duty, o flammable material, i to the
i stallatio recess (see Fig. 1).
I sert deflector plate (B) i such a way that the
hot air escapes through the air ve t grati g i to
the ope air.
Affix the discharge plate to the carava wall, ot
to the refrigerator!
I additio , discharge plate (B) with its lipped seal
(A) must seal the refrigerator off from the livi g
area (see Fig. 1).
E sure that the refrigerator is i stalled level i the
recess.
Proposal 2:
A other optio is to provide the refrigerator with a cowl (A).
The cowl (A) should ideally be affixed to the carava wall,
ot to the refrigerator. I sert seali g strips at the bottom
a d sides of the cover.
Fi ally, push the refrigerator i to the cover from the fro t.
Both of these i stallatio optio s facilitate the remo-
val a d i stallatio of the applia ce for servici g.
Comment:
Other methods of seali g may be approved. However the chose method must preve t
draughts e teri g the livi g space of the carava or motorhome. Failure to seal correct
ly will allow warm air to collect arou d the refrigerator a d its performa ce will be
affected.
If the cavity betwee the carava wall a d the refrigerator is sealed so that fumes
ca ot pe etrate the livi g area it is possible to ve t the flue gas directly through the
upper grille without usi g the alumi ium flue pipe. For this i stallatio method, it is
recomme ded that the same air ve t grille should be used at the top a d at the
bottom (L200), a d that the T-piece of the flue pipe is tur ed 45 degrees.

In this case, for gas operation, do not use the upper winter cover!
If eve with draught-free i stallatio a fume chim ey is desirable, you must i corporte
the L100 ve tilatio a d extractio system i to the upper air ve t ope i g.

Ventilation and extraction
A correct i stallatio is importa t for correct operatio of the applia ce to e sure, there
is o a build-up of heat at the back of the applia ce; this heat must be allowed to escape
i to the ope air.
In the event of high ambient temperatures, full performance of the cooling unit
can only be achieved by means of adequate ventilation and extraction.
Ve tilatio is provided for the u it by mea s of two apertures i the carava wall.
Fresh air e ters at the bottom, extracts the heat a d exits through the upper ve t
grille.
The upper ve tilatio grille should be positio ed as high as possible above
co de ser (A).
The lower ve tilatio grille should be flush with the floor of the vehicle, allowi g
a y gas leakages (heavier tha air) to escape directly i to the ope air.
If such a arra geme t is ot possible a hole must be provided u der the refrigerator
( ot close to the bur er) so that a y leaki g LP gas ca escape. This must have a
effictive area of at least 13cm². It is desirable to fit the hole with wire mesh or similar,
a d a a gle plate to protect it from sto es, mud etc., the wire mesh must ot reduce
the effective area of 13cm² ( EN 1949).
The ventilation grilles must have an open cross-section of at least 25 cm2.
This is reached using the Dometic Absorber Ventilation and Air Extraction
System L1 / L 2 that has been tested and approved for this purpose.
Comment:
If the dista ce betwee the wall a d the refrigerator is greater tha 20 mm the gap
ca be reduced to 20 mm by fitti g a suitable baffle piece.

To i stall the ve tilatio grilles, cut two recta gles (451mm x 156mm) i the
outer wall of the vehicle (for positio of the cuts, see poi t 6.3).
