Introduction
The RK series consists of IP network cameras with H264/H265 compression and video resolution from
2MP up to 4K.
The units connect to a LAN via the RJ45 port such as a computer or other
network unit and images can be viewed on a PC using the browser.
The power supply is possible with 12VDC adapters (not supplied) or via the
same network cable thanks to the Power technology
over Ethernet (POE) supported by all cameras in the range, except the mini models.
RK Series cameras fully support the international ONVIF protocol and are compatible with any software
IP recording or multi-protocol network video recorder
(NVR) that can handle this standard.
DSE is among the few Italian companies to be a
member of the Onvif association and guarantees the
full compliance of its products with the most up-to-
date standard.

Installation
ESSENTIAL CONNECTIONS
All RK series cameras always have at least 2 connections: a network socket and a 12VDC power plug
-RJ45 NETWORK PORT - FEMALE RJ45 connector to connect the LAN network. For connection to a
network HUB or switch, use a straight LAN cable. To directly connect a single PC, use a cross cable
(crossover).
POE POWER SUPPLY – The cameras support 802.3af POE power supply through the network cable. To
use this form of power it is necessary to connect the camera to switches with POE ports capable of
supplying power. Alternatively, external POE injectors can be used. If the POE power supply is used, the
12VDC plug alongside must not be used.
12VDC – Plug to connect the 220VAC/12VDC power supply (not included) if you don't want to power the
camera in POE through the network cable. Connect a 12VDC power supply of at least 1A.

All RK cameras can be used outdoors and for this reason they have a waterproof and sealed mains
connector which must be assembled as shown in the figure. Note that the watertight connector is present
for further protection, but it is always advisable to protect the connections from bad weather inside
junction boxes or by purchasing the appropriate watertight boxes for connections to be installed between
the camera and the wall.

AUXILIARY CONNECTIONS
Some camera models have other connections, in addition to the basic ones:
-AUDIO IN (AUDIO IN) – This is a female RCA connector to which you can connect an external
microphone. Normally the microphone also has a female RCA so between the two you will have to
interpose a cable with male RCA on both sides or a male-male RCA adapter. The external microphone
must be powered separately.
AUDIO OUT (AUDIO OUT) - It is a female RCA connector to which you can connect an external speaker.
Normally the loudspeaker also has a female RCA so between the two you will need to interpose a cable
with male RCA on both sides or a male-male RCA adapter. The external loudspeaker must be powered
separately.
ALARM INPUTS/OUTPUTS – Some cameras have a green terminal block to connect inputs (sensors,
contacts) and alarm outputs (buzzers, lighting, etc.). You can connect contacts to the two terminals of
each input (ALARM IN) which can trigger alarm actions. You can manage both NO and NC inputs in the
camera configuration. The two output terminals (ALARM OUT) are nothing more than a normally open
relay contact (NO) with which you can directly control DC loads up to 1A or activate an external power
relay to control 220V loads. A label with a legend explaining the arrangement of the connectors is
applied to the terminal block cable.

CONNECT AND CHECK NETWORK CONNECTION
Connect ONLY ONE CAMERA AT A TIME to the network, because having all the same fixed base address they
would conflict. Only after configuring the IP address of the first camera will it be possible to connect
another one.
After connecting the network cable, it is a good idea to check that the LEDs of the switch or NVR located
near the network port flash, to confirm the good data connection in progress. If the network port LEDs do
not light up, it is impossible to proceed with the configuration because the camera is not working properly.
Reasons for the failure of the LEDs to light up can be poorly made connectors, too long or poor quality
cable, interference, breakdowns.

MANUAL LENS ADJUSTMENT
The smaller models in this range have a fixed, non-adjustable
lens. In these models, the lens is adjusted at the factory and
does not need to be focused.
The larger models, with IR over 20m, are equipped with an
adjustable lens. In these models there are 2 screws
external adjustments. It is necessary to act, with the key supplied, first on the ZOOM screw to adjust the
angle of view and then on the FOCUS screw to finely adjust the focus. These adjustments must be made
while observing the image on the screen. Take the time to get the perfect adjustment because this will
have a crucial effect on the effectiveness of the system.
MOTORIZED ZOOM LENS ADJUSTMENT The models with motorized
lens (Ref. ----Z-) allow you to adjust the zoom by acting directly via
the network by connecting with the browser or with our APP, or via
the NVR. Act on the PTZ CONTROLS to set the desired zoom. Focus is
automatic.
ASSEMBLY OF CYLINDRICAL CAMERAS The barrel cameras
are equipped with an integrated wall mounting bracket,
specially designed to allow the passage of the cables inside it
and protect them from tampering attempts. The camera is
usually mounted at the cable outlet so that no cables are left
uncovered. However, the fixing base also has a lateral cable
outlet slot if the cables come laterally in the external channel.
The bracket must be fixed to the wall or ceiling with the
dowels provided. On the back of the Vie bracket is an
insulating foam pad whose function is to eliminate space

for insect penetration.
With the Allen key supplied, loosen the retaining screw B and then orient the camera thanks to the joint A.
At the end, fully tighten the retaining screw B to lock the camera in its position
ASSEMBLY OF SPHERICAL CAMERAS
Spherical cameras consist of the camera globe and the mounting base
which are screwed together. Before proceeding with the assembly,
unscrew the fixing base by separating it from the body of the camera.
Generally, tools are not required to unscrew the fixing base from the
camera body, however if this is tightened too tightly, it is possible to help
by placing a rigid rod, such as a screwdriver, between the two side cable
outlet slots located in the base.
The fixing base, separated from the camera, is fixed to the wall or
to the wall with dowels in correspondence with the cable outlet hole and the camera body is then screwed
onto it. Before tightening down, orient the viewing angle correctly.
CONNECTION BOXES
For both the cylindrical and spherical models, the watertight boxes to house the connections are available
separately, to be mounted between the wall and the bracket. The boxes have rear or side cable entry
(watertight cable gland included) and have the fixing holes for the different models on the cover.
ORIENT THE CAMERA AVOIDING NEARBY OBJECTS
When positioning and directing the camera, avoid objects close to the camera

enter the field of view, for example edges, poles, foliage, etc. because at night they would be illuminated
strongly by the IR illuminator causing a strong darkening of the overall image. For the same reason, the wall
near the camera should not enter the frame. Framing the wall on which the camera is anchored, tilting the
shot too much until it is parallel to the wall, is a very frequent mistake that jeopardizes good night vision
and the functioning of the surveys. Even a wall placed next to the camera, out of sight, but very close has
the same negative effect.
Point the camera in a clear area so that it has a nice open view in front of it and no nearby objects.

Network configuration
automatic with NVR POE
If you have purchased one of our NVRs with integrated POE ports, you don't have to worry about
configuring the camera address as the NVR will take care of it automatically. You just need to connect the
camera to a POE port of the NVR and wait a few moments to see it appear on the screen.
The automatic configuration only works with POE NVRs of our production.

Network configuration
manual
If you connect the camera to a LAN network, you need to set the correct network parameters manually.
Only with correct parameters will the camera be accessible from computers and NVRs. The cameras all
come withfixed factory address 192.168.1.168
DOWNLOAD THE IPTool.RK SOFTWARE
In the software section of our site, in the section dedicated to RK IP cameras, you will find the software
IPTool.RKthat you need to download and install on a PC on the network. The function of this software
is to detect the presence of the camera on the network, whatever its address, and allow you to change
the camera address to be consistent with your network. In fact, remember that for the camera to be
visible from the other PCs on the network, the first 3 parts of the IP address must be the same as the
other network components and the subnet mask must also be the same. It is important to connect
only one camera at a time to the network and insert new ones only after configuring the previous
ones.
PRELIMINARY CHECKS
Before proceeding, you need to get some information from your network administrator about the
management of IP addresses used in your network. It is necessary to know an IP address that can be
assigned to the camera that is not the same as any other device already present on the network. If you
are uncertain about the functioning of your network you can use some commands in the DOS
PROMPT.
On a networked PC, launch a DOS window available among the windows accessory programs. Type
IPCONFIG in the command prompt and press ENTER. The TCP/IP parameters will appear. The second
line is the IP address assigned to your computer.

Page:11
In the example above, the address of the PC you are working on is 192.168.2.3 and the subnet mask
used is the classic 255.255.255.0. You can therefore assign an address of your choice to the camera
such as 192.168.2.XXX, where XXX stands for a number between 0 and 255. It is importantchoose an
address that is not already used by other equipmentof network. To verify that the chosen address
is free, try to PING from the same DOS window by typing PING followed by a space and the IP you wish
to assign to the camera. If there is no device responding to that address, you will receive 4 REQUEST
TIME OUT as in the following example:
All cameras support automatic IP address assignment by a DHCP server. However, this mode is not
recommended because in the event of a network failure or restart of the equipment it is possible that
the cameras change their IP address making it necessary to reconfigure the NVR.

USING IPTOOL.RK TO ASSIGN IP ADDRESS
All RK series cameras are preset with the factory fixed IP address: 192.168.1.168
After connecting the camera, you need to change the camera address to assign one consistent with your
network (first 3 parts of the address common to all devices on the network).
Proceed as follows:
1. Download from our site and install the IPTool.RK program on a network computer. Once started, the
program will appear like this
2.
3. The program searches for all the DSE RK series devices present on the network (cameras, NVRs and DVRs).
Please wait for the search to complete. IPTool.RK is also able to detect cameras with an address class
different from that of the PC on which it is operating.
4. At the end of the search, the list of detected cameras will appear. If the camera has not been detected,
check the functionality of the network connections. The current IP address of the camera appears in
the IP ADDRESS column. Click on the camera and you will see all the other network parameters appear
in the section on the right.

5. Particularly important are the IP address (IP ADDRESS) which must have the same class as the network
(first three groups of equal digits) and the SUBNET MASK which must be the same used by the network
(generally 255.255.255.0). The gateway is the address of the router, usually number 1 on the network.
The DNS is important for the camera to recognize websites by name and to be able, for example, to
send emails. If you do not know the DNS of your Internet provider you can enter the DNS of Google:
8.8.8.8. You can edit the network parameters as you like by writing in the boxes. Don't forget to also
enter the camera's login credentials (factoryadmin/admin)
6. Press MODIFY to transfer the new configuration to the camera. Wait at least one minute and in any case
until, by pressing the SEARCH key, the video camera is detected with the new address.

WIFI camera installation
The RK Series cameras with wifi are installed like wired cameras, but with the additional need for connection
to the local wifi network. Initially you need to connect the camera with a network cable and assign a wired
IP address. Then you access the NETWORK configuration - ADVANCED CONFIGURATION - WIFI and connect
the camera to your WiFi network. You need to select your access point and enter your network access
credentials.
It is possible to connect to the WiFi network in DHCP mode, with automatic assignment of the address or set
a static IP address. As with the wired connection, this second option is recommended for greater stability of
the system over time.
When the camera shows Successful connection to wifi network it will have two IP addresses: one on the wired
network and one on the wifi network. At this point you can disconnect the network cable and only maintain the
connection with the WiFi address.

Login with Internet Explorer
Some older generation RK camera models do not support all browsers but only require Internet Explorer.
Although now little used in normal web browsing, Internet Explorer remains a browser used in video
surveillance because it is able to communicate even with non-latest generation devices, thanks to the
management of ActiveX plugins.
Internet Explorer is also present in Windows 10, just search for Internet Explorer in the search bar. In
Windows 11 you can use Edge in IE mode.
ENABLE ACTIVEX TO RUN
Internet Explorer contains security settings that can prevent the installation of the ActiveX component.
Before proceeding with the connection, it is necessary to enable the execution of the ActiveX not marked as
safe. In Internet Explorer choose TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS
In the PROTECTION folder choose the area of interest (Internet or local network) and click CUSTOM LEVEL.
Enable all items that affect downloading and running ActiveX especially those NOT marked as safe. It is
possible to set the items either on ENABLE or ASK FOR CONFIRMATION. Finally save and restart the
browser.

ACCESS WITH INTERNET EXPLORER
To access the camera with Internet Explorer, enter the IP address you assigned it in the address box.
In the example below we make a connection on the internal network to the camera with the IP
address 192.168.2.30.
It is not necessary to specify the connection port as the cameras use port 80 by default which is the
one normally used by browsers.
If for any reason you have to change the HTTP port in the camera settings then you will need to specify
the port to call in the browser by following it to the IP address. In this example we are calling the IP
192.168.2.30 on port 85.
INSTALLING ACTIVEX
In order to make the RK series IP cameras viewable on the browser, it is necessary to install the
ActiveX components. The first time you log in, the camera will detect the lack of these components and
show the following window.
