1.Introduction
You are in possession of a remarkable audio device capable of – no less than –
makin wonders to the sound quality of most audio systems. The list of the
advanced features of the Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core is lon ; includin jitter-less
di ital output, audiophile- rade D/A converters with di itally controlled analo
volume control, etc. But perhaps the most important feature, re rettably
commonly overlooked by the industry, is the ability to correct the room
resonances and other adverse effects enerated by the listenin environment.
Perfection in sound can only be achieved throu h the mastery in the art of
room acoustics!
We have worked hard to ensure that the Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core is not only
powerful and versatile but also intuitive and easy to use. However, it is a ood
idea to read this manual in whole before operatin the unit.
This manual is for firmware version “Dec 2 2012” or newer.

PLEASE N TE: After Anti-Mode ets rid of the room resonances,
the results may appear ood but lackin some bass. One possible
reason is that the listener has rown used to the exa erated bass
response previously caused by room resonances.
If you feel the need to increase the overall bass level, you can do
this usin the house curve tool or desi nin a custom EQ to lift the
low-frequency band. You can also use a QuickTone bass adjustment
or adjust the
Compensation
value from the
Audio Settin s

➢ The default functions for arrow keys are QuickTone actions: UP / D WN control
Bass, LEFT / RIGHT control Treble.
QuickTone can be used to quickly perform full-spectrum adjustments from the home
screen usin the arrow buttons. This is extremely useful when the user wants to
quickly and often compensate for too bri ht or subdued recordin s. QuickTone is a
short-cut to automatically activate the filters of the House Curve and Tilt curve tools,
which means usin it overrides any settin s on them. Use the
Homescreen

to confi ure the arrow buttons for different functions.
When you use the QuickTone controls at the home screen, the applied curve is briefly
shown on the screen as simplified shape of the frequency response. You can adjust the
curve between flat (no curve) and very stron curve usin 1dB steps.
When you adjust only bass or treble usin QuickTone (the default), the other
adjustment is not chan ed.

enerally not updated in real-time. In order to hear the difference
in the sound output, accept the chan es and close the
correspondin editor by pressin K on the remote controller.
4.1 House Curve Tool
The House curve tool provides a method of chan in the tar et curve of the bass
response. The motivation behind a house curve is in the sensitivity of the human
auditory system and the hearin threshold – in addition to personal preference, of
course. When sound pressure level is low enou h, we are no lon er able to hear the
lowest bass frequencies, some some emphasis may be required. It is easy to add a
boostin equalizer to the lower bass re ion usin the house curve tool.
Note: the QuickTone Bass, Tilt, and Loudness controls uses the house curve filter,
overridin user settin s.
WARNING: As with any low-frequency boostin EQ, employin an
en a in house curve must be done with caution. Excessive low
frequency liftin may introduce clippin of the amplifier or even
cause dama e to the woofer. Add house curve boostin in small
increments at a time.
The parameters of the House Curve tool are:
✔Tilt: Defines the frequency ran e of the low
frequency boost (the effect is illustrated on the
screen). Adjust usin the LEFT/RIGHT buttons or
the blue-coded button.
✔Lift: Defines the maximum boost in decibels (the
effect is illustrated on the screen). Adjust usin the
UP/D WN buttons or the orange-coded button.
✔Enabled: Enables or disables the applied house
curve. To le with the green-coded button.
Please note that modifyin the parameter values will automatically enable this
equalizer. Press the green button (followed by K) to disable it a ain.

4.2 Tilt Curve Tool
The Tilt curve tool provides a method of chan in the overall frequency response
slope of the treble. The motivation behind a tilt curve is (alon personal preference) to
compensate differences in various recordin s. One can, for example, make a profile
with treble tilted down to tame too “bri ht“ recordin s.
Note: the QuickTone Treble, Tilt, and Loudness controls use the tilt curve filter,
overridin user settin s.
The parameters of the tilt curve are:
✔Freq: The transition frequency of the effect
(illustrated on the screen). Adjust usin

followed by K to apply the chan es.
4.3 Infrasonic Filter
The Infrasonic filter tool is a quick way to apply a subsonic hi hpass filter that filters
out the si nals below the audible band. The motivation behind an Infrasonic filter is to
protect the woofer cones and to eliminate the effect of infrasonic harmonics and/or
inter-modulation distortion. It is recommended to use an infrasonic filter whenever
excessive house curve or low frequency boostin parametric equalizers are applied.
The controls of the infrasonic filter are:
✔Frequency: The frequencies below this threshold are attenuated.
✔Enabled: Enables or disables the infrasonic filter.
Use the arrow buttons on the remote controller to chan e the parameters. Press the
K button to store settin s or the BACK button to cancel.
Note: You can also desi n a custom infrasonic filter with the Lowpass/Hi hpass tool,

4.4 High/Lowpass filters
The Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core features fully customizable hi hpass and lowpass filters.
These filters can be used to control the pass-band of the speaker or subwoofer. For
example, with a custom lowpass, it is easy to implement a more precise di ital cross-
over filter for a subwoofer. A custom hi hpass filter can be used to attenuate lower
frequencies and thus prevent them from reachin the main speakers.
To desi n a custom lowpass or hi hpass filter, navi ate into the
Hi hpass/lowpass
section of the
Settin s
menu. Note that you can desi n two independent filters by
selectin a different filter slot (use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons to hi hli ht a slot
and press the K button to accept).
This allows you to desi n extremely steep lowpass or hi hpass filters, for example
duplicatin a maximally steep filter results in 48 dB / octave slope.
The controls of the hi h/lowpass filter tool are:
✔Frequency: the cut-off frequency of the filter, at which point the si nal is
attenuated exactly 6 dB. Activate with the blue-coded button, adjust with the
LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons (coarse) and UP/D WN (fine).
✔Slope: the steepness of the filter (6, 12, 18, or 24 dB / octave). Cycle with the
orange-coded button.
✔Settings: open the settin s submenu.
Settin s
submenu:
✔Channel: selects the filter to apply to both channels, or just left or ri ht channel.
Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons to chan e the selection.
✔Type: selects the filter type: hi hpass or lowpass. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow
buttons to chan e the selection.
✔n/off: enables or disables the filter. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons to enable
or disable.
4.5 Custom Parametric Equalizers
The Custom Parametric Equalizers (PEQs) are very versatile filter structures that can
implement a wide ran e of different bandstop, bandpass, hi hpass and lowpass filters.
All user-defined parametric EQs are or anized in 16 filter slots. The first step of the
Parametric EQ tool is the filter list screen. Use the arrow buttons to hi hli ht an

parameters, then press the K button to accept the selection. Note that there are
more slots than the 6 visible ones, just scroll down with the D WN button. Active
filters are represented with reen boxes in the filter list, inactive filters are rayed out.
The filter name (such as EQ01 S) ives eneral information about the desi ned filter.
The number after the EQ refers to the number of the filter slot (ran in from 01 to 16).
The arrow points either up or down to indicate its CPU usa e: hi h or low, respectively.
The last letter indicates whether the filter is stereo (“S”), left channel only (“L”) or ri ht
channel only (“R”).
After selectin a filter to edit, the filter overview screen appears. An approximated
response of the filter is displayed. The followin actions are available:
✔Edit: activates the edit mode (see below).
✔Filter name: the filter slot of the current PEQ.
✔Settings: Opens the settin s submenu.
Edit mode controls are:
✔Center Frequency: the frequency at which the filterin effect is applied. Adjust with
LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons (coarse) and UP/D WN buttons (fine)
✔Bandwidth: approximately the 3 dB bandwidth of the effective band. This is equal
to settin the Q value of the filter, but for simplicity user can adjust the bandwidth
instead of the Q-value. (Q-value = Fc / Bw). Adjust with LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons
(coarse) and UP/D WN buttons (fine).
✔Gain: filter ain in decibels. The value is ne ative for a cuttin PEQ (bandstop) and
positive for a boostin (peakin ) PEQ.

EXAMPLE: Addin a psycho-acoustic 3 kHz dip
Background: The idea behind makin a 3 kHz dip ori inates from the
human auditory system and diffuse field characteristics. The human
hearin is less sensitive to diffuse fields in the nei hborhood of 3 kHz.
Because of a flat microphone response, compared to the ori inal listenin
situation for example in a concert hall, many recordin s have too much
ener y around 3 kHz. A cuttin PEQ at 3 kHz can be introduced to
compensate. Whether or not this is beneficial is left to be jud ed by the
user. This example shows how to create the cuttin PEQ or any other
parametric equalizer.
How to do it step-by-step:
➢ Open the menu display by pressin the MENU button
➢ Navi ate to the “Settin s” menu usin the arrow buttons and press K
to select it
➢ In the settin s menu, select the “Parametric EQ” usin the arrow
buttons. (The second element on the lower row.) Press K to proceed.
The Parametric EQ filter list appears.
➢ First you need to assi n a filter slot for the filter. If there are no
previously desi ned Parametric EQ filters, the first slot is automatically
selected and you only need to press K to proceed to the PEQ desi ner.
➢ At the filter overview, open the “EDIT” submenu by pressin the blue-
coded button on the remote controller.
➢ Adjust the center frequency to 3000Hz by pressin the arrow buttons.
(You can press and hold the buttons to adjust faster.)
➢ Press the orange-coded button to activate the bandwidth adjustment.
Usin the arrow keys set the bandwidth to about 1000 Hz.
➢ Press the green-coded button to adjust the filter ain. Usin UP/D WN
for +/- 0.1dB adjustments and LEFT/RIGHT for +/- 0.5dB, set the ain to
-4.2dB.
➢ The custom equalizer is now ready. Save it by pressin K twice. You are
returned to the filter list. The desi ned filter ets enabled when you o
back to the settin s menu by pressin the BACK button.
➢ Now you can try out how the psycho-acoustic dip works for you. You can
also fine-tune the parameters and try to find out if there is a settin that

By assi nin Tilt, Bass, Treble, or Loudness you can quickly perform full-spectrum
adjustments from the home screen, thus we have named the function QuickTone. This
is extremely useful when the user wants to compensate for too bri ht or subdued
recordin s. QuickTone automatically activates the filters of the House Curve and Tilt
curve tools, which means it overrides possible user settin s on them.

All internal processin is performed with 32- or 40-bit accuracy with the appropriate
number of bits reserved for headroom. However, if emphasizin (amplifyin ) filters are
used, some input si nals could cause saturation / clippin at the output. The unit
automatically calculates the best headroom settin from the ains of the active filters.
However, if you only use the analo input and do not use the full input ran e, you can
chan e the headroom settin to a lower value. If the automatically calculated value is
too small (causin clippin at output), you can manually increase the headroom value.
The headroom value is automatically re-calculated any time you calibrate or chan e
filter settin s, so remember to re-do your own adjustment in these cases.
When performin calibration in the advanced mode, you can select different dip
compensation modes: normal, maximum, or no dip compensation. Usin the
Compensation
adjustment you can manually increase or decrease the lowpass shelve
filter effect that was automatically determined by the calibration. Note that this
adjustment does not affect the before / after measurement display, but you can
perform a user measurement to determine the best value.
Notice: channel balance, headroom, and dip compensation values are associated with
the current sound profile.
