POWERING ON & OFF
After turning the power switch on back of the Programmer on, the INIT-
Swich LED must light up and the display shows the firmware version.
Sys-Info-Avail setting
Then turn on your DX/TX and set the option ‘Sys-Info’ to ‘avail’.
On the DX7, This is done with pressing the Function switch and then
pressing the Program No. 8 switch. (For more information of the Sys-Info-
Avail setting on the other possible devices refer to the YAMAHA manual).
Now you can start editing any parameter, and if you have ten or more
hands, all at the same time.
DATA SPEED
Because the operating system of the DX-7 (especially older ones) is a bit
slow, it can be handy to adjust the DATA SPEED knob a bit. At startup, the
data speed is always set to an initial value.
The DX-7 is not a true realtime synth, and so you always have to press a
key first before listening to any sound changes because of this behavior, a
sequencer running a slow sequence is highly recommended. Newer models
like the TH-802 or DX7-iiFD can be edited in real time.
For the TX-216/816 it is not possible to set the LIMIT-LOW and LIMIT-HIGH
with the programmer. Please refer to the YAMAHA manual for more
information about this parameters.
The INIT switch will create an INIT patch on the DX-7
The DUMP switch will dump ALL parameters from the DT7
