Quick Guide: DB350® Flex Cart Start Up & Shut Down
Warning:
Before beginning the startup of the Flex Cart, make sure the cart is in the proper place for
blasting. If blasting indoors, move the cart close to the blasted surface. If the blasted surface is
outdoors, leave the Flex Cart inside and cover the remaining distance with the blast hose. Once
the machine is situated in the proper spot and on a flat, smooth surface, be sure to lock all of the
caster wheels on the bottom of the cart to keep the machine in place during use. Operator is
responsible for reading and understanding all warnings and safety information listed in the blast
pot user manual and this Quick Guide before machine use.

Caution:
The air cooler and dryer component of the machine can process up to 425 SCFM. Ensure proper SCFM
and operating temperature range, -30F to 175F are met before using the air cooling and drying system.
If operating in temperatures below 35F, ensure air is dry enough to avoid ice formation.
1. Attach the blast hose to the pinch hose at the top of the blast pot and
insert the safety pins.
2. Screw on the appropriate blast hose nozzle. The nozzle size is based
on the air compressor/source size.
3. Connect the air supply source to the air inlet on the Flex Cart air cooling and drying system.
3a. If using accessory ports, connect applicable components to either the service ball-valve or the quick-
connect.
Flex Cart Start Up
Caution:
Make sure the machine is off and depressurized before completing the startup steps. The air-inlet
shutoff valve on the blast pot should be closed and the blow down valve should be open. Make sure the
caster wheels are set to the locked position. Use caution when transporting the cart.
• If using AC power source, the electrical requirements are 120v. Connect the power plug from the
power supply on the Flex Cart to the plug on your power source.
• If using DC or battery power source, the electrical requirements are 12v. There is a separate cable
with alligator clips included with the cart. Plug this cord into the power supply on the cart. The
red clip on the cable will run to the positive terminal on the battery. The black clip will go to the
negative terminal on the battery.
4. Connect the cart to the power source.

5. Connect the blast pot to the power supply as shown in the Figure below.
7. Fill the blast pot according to the pot user manual instructions.
Connect the power supply cord to the cord on the air cooling
and drying system.
6. Press the button on the back of the air cooling and drying radiator to turn the fan on. If the power is
connected properly, the fan will turn on and the button will illuminate red.
Caution:
The blast pot should remain depressurized during the fill process. The air-inlet shutoff valve on the
blast pot should be closed and the blow down valve should be open.
Note: Adjust the outlet pipe according to the blast pot user manual section Adjusting Abrasive Flow
Rate. A good measurement to start blasting with the Flex Cart setup is 3/16” of an inch. Each quarter
turn of the abrasive valve raises the outlet pipe 1/16” of an inch.

9. Pressurize the blast pot. To do this, pull up on the abrasive lever to move the handle into the unlocked
position, close the blow down valve, and slowly open the air-inlet shutoff valve.
11. Start blasting.
10. Set the pressure regulator to 110 PSI. To adjust the operating pressure, see the blast pot user manual
section Adjusting Operating Pressure.

8. Turn on the compressor or other air source and let compressor idle for 10-15 seconds before allowing air
to flow freely to the Flex Cart. Slowly open the lever on the accessory ball valve if applicable.
Warning:
Follow all safety procedures listed in your blast pot user manual before, during, and after active
blasting. Operator must adhere to all recommended PPE and operating standards to prevent risk
of serious injury. Read and understand the Blast Pot Start Up section of the blast pot user manual
before operation.

Flex Cart Shut Down
1. When blasting is finished, depressurize the blast pot. Close the air-inlet shutoff valve and slowly open
the blow down valve.
Caution:
If using a compressor for air source, DO NOT turn the compressor off when starting the shut down
process. Failure to leave the compressor running will cause a backflow of air, water, and media into the
system and could damage the machine. User is responsible for proper understanding and operation of
utilized air source.

2. Let the blast pot fully depressurize before turning off the compressor, if applicable.
3. Turn the air cooling and drying system radiator fan off by pressing the button on the back panel.

4. Disconnect the air inlet from the connected air supply.

6. After each blast, drain the water from the filter on the side of the air drying and cooling system by
loosening the wingnut on the bottom of the device.
Note: For blast pot cleaning and maintenance, reference the blast pot user manual for more information.
