LetraTAG can print on coloured, transparent, metallic

Getting started: your rst label in six
easy steps
Step One - insert the batteries
- Remove the battery cover (Fig A)
- Insert six size AA alkaline batteries, observing the
polarity markings and close the cover.
- Remove the batteries if the LetraTAG is to remain
unused for some time.
Step Two - insert the cassette
Open the cassette door Insert cassette (Fig B). and
gently press on the centre of the cassette until it clicks
into place (Fig C).
Check the cassette is correctly positioned before
closing the cassette door.
Step Three - switch on
Press the red button to switch on.

With the LetraTAG XR you can print a wide range of
high-quality labels in dierent sizes and styles.The
LetraTAG can print on coloured, transparent, metallic
and iron-on fabric tapes. See the list of DYMO cassettes
available for the LetraTAG XR at the end of this guide.
HOW TO USE YOUR DYMO
LETRATAG XR
Getting started: your rst label in six
easy steps
Step One - insert the batteries
- Remove the battery cover (Fig A)
- Insert six size AA alkaline batteries, observing the

- Remove the batteries if the LetraTAG is to remain

Open the cassette door Insert cassette (Fig B). and

Step Three - switch on
Press the red button to switch on.
Note: the label maker switches o automatically after
2 minutes if no keys are pressed.
Step Four - type a label
Type a simple label rst to try the machine. Learn more
about formatting in the following pages.
Step Five - Print your label
Press “print”to print your label.
Step Six - Cut the label
Use the cutter button on the right-hand side of the
LetraTag to cut the label (Fig E)
Congratulations ! You’ve just printed
your rst label !
Setting the language
Setting the language will dene which extra
characters your LetraTAG can print, so that you have
fast access to the accented characters or currency
symbols you need in your language or country. It will
also specify the language in which error messages
appear on the display.
Press LANGUAGE (
SHIFT
+
CAPS
). An abbreviation of
a language will appear. Use Q or R to scroll through
the alphabetical list of language abbreviations until
you reach the one you require.Then press to select.
Note that the starting point for the list of languages
depends on the model:

Checking what you’ve typed
The display will show six characters of the text you
have typed, plus the cursor. The PREVIEW function
(press
SHIFT
+
PRINT
) will automatically scroll
through entire text of the label.You can also scroll
manually through the label using the tand ukeys.
If you want to edit the label, use the tand tkeys
to move the cursor through the text to the place you
want, then type or delete.
Adding a break between two labels
The
--ll--
function (SHIFT + D) is a‘label break’. You can
use this to end one label’s text and start another.
Storing text: the text buer
You can store up to 70 characters in the text buer
of your LetraTAG XR, in as many as 20 labels. These
characters will remain in the buer, even if you switch
o. If you try to type when the text buer is full, the
message ERROR 4 will appear. You will then have
delete part or all of the text in the buer in order to
make a new label.
You can quickly move to the beginning of the buer by
pressing << (
SHIFT
+ t). Go to the end of the
buer by pressing >> (
SHIFT
+ u).
To delete the entire contents of the buer, press
CLEAR (
SHIFT
+
DEL
)
Note: whenever you change the batteries, you will
have to reset the language.
Typing labels
Typing normal characters
If you want to type numbers, press
SHIFT
and the key.
Or use the number lock as a useful alternative to the
shift key.
Press
123
to set this feature which makes F-O become
1-0, press
123
again to exit.
If you make a mistake, press
DEL
and the cursor will
delete the character on the left of the current cursor
position, and will move one place to the left.
The
CAPS
key is a toggle key. Press it to start typing in
capitals.You will see the CAPS indicator is highlighted
on the display. Press it again when you want to drop
back to lower case.
The
SPACE
key inserts a blank space within
yourlabel.
Extra characters
LetraTAG XR also stores a large number of extra
characters (such as other letters or accented letters). It
uses RACE technology, like a mobile phone keyboard.
If you tap the same key repeatedly within a short time,
you can scroll through a sequence of characters based
on that letter. For example, pressing the Ekey repeat-
edly in the French-language version will scroll through
e - é - è - ê - ë. If you wait for more than one second,
the character will be selected, and the cursor will move
on to the next position.
Example:
Type atwice, and the letter àappears. If you tap
the key again within one second, áwill appear.
Pause for a second, and the letter áwill be selected,
and the cursor will move on to the next position.
Graphic symbols
You can also insert a number of graphic symbols.To
insert a symbol, press SYMBOL (
SHIFT
+
SPACE
)
The display will show: A-I?
Press
DEL
to cancel or press a letter key‘A’to‘I’until
you nd the line of symbols required. See table.
Use tor uto select a symbol. Press to place the
symbol in the label.
Text over two lines
You can add a second line to your label by pressing .
If the display shows Abc 123, your label will print:

123
The text will be
centred on the
label. Note that you cannot print two-line labels in certain
formats (big font, vertical). If you try this, the message
Error 5 will alert you.

FORMATTING LABELS
You can use a wide range of formatting
options to change the font style in your
printed label, such as font size, bold, italic,
boxed, vertical etc. The way you format these
characters is shown by a combination of
indicators above the text display.
Display indicators
STYLE B

There are 6 display indicators.When one or more of
these indicators is highlighted, it shows the relevant
formatting option is active:
CAPS: Characters are typed as capital letters
The label will be printed underlined or in a
certain type of box.
STYLE The label will be printed in a certain
selected text style.
BThe label will be printed in Big Font size.
123
Numbers are selected instead of the
characters.
SHIFT The shifted numbers or functions can
now be accessed
If you try a combination of formats which the machine
cannot produce, an error message will appear. See
error message list inTroubleshooting.

To exit from a menu
Press

Clearing formatting and other settings
Use CLEAR (
SHIFT
+
DEL
)to delete the entire
content of the text you have stored in the buer. This
will delete the text, and restore all settings to their
default values (except for the language settings you
have selected).This means that:
• Style is reset to normal
• Box is reset to no boxes
• Size is reset to wide
• CAPS are on
Note: if you want to change the language settings,
press LANGUAGE (SHIFT + caps) and scroll through the
language list. Press to select your language.
Selecting the text size
Pressing the SIZE key (
SHIFT
+ A) will display the
size menu, with four options:
narrow (condensed)
normal
wide (extended)
Bbig font (highly visible labels using the entire print
height)
You can use Narrow, Normal and Wide fonts in two-
line labels, where they will be reduced to half their
normal height.
Move the cursor to the required size with the tand u
keys, and press to select.
Selecting the text style
Pressing STYLE (
SHIFT
+ C) will display the style
menu, with six options:
Normal
Outline
Italic
V e r t i c a l
You cannot combine these dierent text styles, or use
these styles with the big font setting.
Move the cursor to the required style with the tand
ukeys, and press to select.
Underlining or boxing text
Pressing the key will display the box/underline
menu, with eight options:

Previewing your label(s)
Before printing, you can preview the text you have
typed. Press PREVIEW (
SHIFT

PRINT
), and the
label will scroll over the display once.
Printing a label
Make sure the cursor is inside the text of the label you
want to print, and press
PRINT
. During printing the
message Print... will be displayed.
Cutting your label
The cutter button is on the right of your machine. To
cut a label push the cutter forward (Fig E).The label
backing is split down the middle for easy removal.

Call the customer service telephone - see warranty booklet
Cleaning
Check and clean the print head regularly to ensure
optimum print quality, using the cleaning tool supplied
(see Fig D).

UTILIZACIÓN DE LA DYMO

Paso 3 - ponga en marcha la
rotuladora
- Pulse el botón rojo para poner la unidad en
funcionamiento.
Nota: si no pulsa ninguna tecla por mas de dos minu-
tos, la unidad se apagará automáticamente.
Paso 4 - introduzca el texto de una etiqueta
- Escriba un texto de prueba simple. En las páginas
siguientes encontrará más información acerca de
la compaginación de etiquetas.
Paso 5 - imprima la etiqueta
- Pulse “print”para imprimir la etiqueta.
Paso 6 - corte la etiqueta
- Utilice el botón de corte del lado derecho de la
LetraTag para cortar la etiqueta (Fig. E)
¡Felicidades! ¡Acaba de imprimir su primera
etiqueta!
Selección de idioma
La selección de idioma determinará los
caracteres especiales que la LetraTag podrá imprimir,
facilitando así el acceso a los
caracteres acentuados o a los símbolos de divisas que
se emplean en el idioma o en el país del usuario. Dicha
selección determina asimismo el idioma en el que
aparecerán los mensajes de error en la pantalla.

Use to upara desplazarse por la lista alfabética

Si desea introducir números, pulse shift junto con la

Bloq Num en lugar de mantener presionada la tecla
SHIFT
.

(Suprimir). El cursor
borrará el carácter situado a la izquierda de su posición

La tecla
CAPS
(Bloqueo mayúsculas) es una tecla de
función alternativa. Púlsela para introducir texto en
mayúsculas. Observará que el indicador CAPS (Blo-
queo de mayúsculas) está iluminado en la pantalla.
Púlsela de nuevo cuando desee volver a escribir en
minúsculas.
La tecla
SPACE
(Tecla espaciadora) inserta un
espacio en blanco en la etiqueta.
Caracteres especiales
La LetraTAG XR dispone asimismo de numerosos carac-
teres especiales (por ejem-plo, otras letras o caracteres
acentuados). Para ello utiliza una tecnología muy
parecida a la de los teclados de los teléfonos móviles.
Pulsando repetidamente una misma tecla en un lapso
de tiempo reducido, la pantalla mostrará una secuen-
cia de caracteres basados en esa letra. Por ejemplo, si
pulsa la tecla Erepetidamente en la conguración de
idioma francés, la pantalla mostrará sucesivamente

desplazará a la posición siguiente.
Por ejemplo:
Pulse ados veces y aparecerá la letra à. Si pulsa
de nuevo la tecla (antes de que tran scurra un
segundo), aparecerá la letra á. Si espera más de un
segundo, la letra áserá seleccionada y el cursor se
desplazará a la posición siguiente.

Símbolos grácos
También puede introducir un número o símbolos
grácos. Para insertar un símbolo, pulse (
SHIFT

SPACE
) SYMBOL
En la pantalla podrá ver: A-I?
Pulse Del para cancelar , o cualquier letra de la“A”a
la“I” para seleccionar la línea de símbolos que desee.

Use to upara seleccionar el símbolo. Pulse
para introducir el símbolo en la etiqueta.
Texto de dos o más líneas
Agregue una segunda línea de texto a la etiqueta
pulsando . Si la pantalla muestra Abc 123, se
imprimirá la etiqueta:
Abc
123
El texto estará centrado en la etiqueta. En determinados
formatos, no se pueden imprimir etiquetas de dos líneas
(fuentes grandes, texto en vertical). Si trata de hacerlo,
le aparecerá el mensaje Error 5
Comprobación del texto introducido
La pantalla mostrará seis caracteres del texto que se ha
introducido, más el cursor. La función PREVIEW (pulse
SHIFT
+
PRINT
) permitirá desplazarse automática-
mente por todo el texto de la etiqueta.
También se puede desplazar de forma manual por
la etiqueta empleando el uy t. Si desea editar la
etiqueta, use las teclas uy tpara mover el cursor
por el texto hasta el lugar que quiera y después teclee
o borre a su gusto.
Introducción de un espacio entre dos eti-
quetas
La función
--ll--
(SHIFT + D) es un ‘espacio
entre etiquetas’. Puede usarlo para terminar el
texto de una etiqueta y empezar otra.
Memoria
Se pueden memorizar hasta 70 caracteres en su
LetraTAG XR, en 20 etiquetas. Estos caracteres
permanecerán en la memoria, incluso si apaga la
máquina. Si trata de teclear cuando la memoria está
llena, aparecerá el mensaje ERROR 4. Tendrá entonces
que borrar parte o todo el texto para poder confec-
cionar una nueva etiqueta.
Puede ir rápidamente al principio del texto pulsando
<< (
SHIFT
+ t). Para ir al nal,
pulse >> (
SHIFT
+ u).
Para borrar todo el contenido del texto pulse CLEAR
(
SHIFT
+
DEL
).

Formato del texto de la etiqueta
Dispone de una amplia paleta de opciones
que permite por ejemplo seleccionar tamaños
de fuente, caracteres en negrita o en cursiva,
texto en recuadro, texto vertical, etc. Las
combinaciones de indicadores que aparecen
en la pantalla, encima del texto, indican el
estilo de caracteres seleccionado.
Indicadores en pantalla

CAPS

Hay 6 indicadores en pantalla. La opción de formato
seleccionada aparece indicada en la pantalla mediante
la iluminación de uno o varios de estos indicadores:
CAPS: Los caracteres se introducen en
mayúsculas
La etiqueta se imprimirá subrayada o
en determinado tipo de recuadro.
STYLE La etiqueta se imprimirá en el estilo
de texto seleccionado.
BLa etiqueta se imprimirá con fuente
grande.
123
Se seleccionan números en lugar de
los caracteres.
SHIFT Así se accede a los números o
funciones alternativas.
Si selecciona una combinación de formatos que la
máquina no puede imprimir aparecerá un mensaje
de error. Consulte la lista de mensajes de error en la
sección Resolución de problemas.
Selección del tamaño del texto
Pulsando la tecla SIZE (
SHIFT
+ A) aparecerá el menú
de selección de tamaño con dos opciones:
estrecha (condensada)
normal
ancha (extendida)
Bfuente grande (etiquetas muy visibles usando
toda su altura)
Puede usar fuentes estrechas, normales o anchas en
etiquetas de dos líneas, reduciéndose a la mitad de su
altura normal.
Mueva el cursor al tamaño que desee con las teclas t
y uy pulse para conrmar su selección.

Formatos de borrado y otras conguraciones
Use CLEAR (
SHIFT
+
DEL
) para borrar todo el
contenido del texto que guardó en la memoria. Esto
borrará el texto y restaurará todas las conguraciones
a sus valores por defecto (excepto la conguración de
idioma que haya seleccionado). Esto quiere decir que:
• El estilo se reinicia en normal
• El recuadro se reinicia en sin recuadro
• El tamaño se reinicia en ancha
• CAPS (Bloqueo mayúsculas) está activado
Nota: si desea cambiar la conguración de idioma
pulse LANGUAGE (SHIFT + CAPS (Bloqueo mayúsculas)
y desplácese por la lista de idiomas. Pulse para
seleccionar su idioma.

Antes de imprimir, se puede ver previamente el texto
que se ha tecleado. Pulse PREVIEW (Vista previa) (
SHIFT

), el texto de la etiqueta se moverá
por la pantalla una sola vez
Para imprimir una etiqueta
Asegúrese de que el cursor está dentro del texto de la
etiqueta que desee imprimir y pulse
PRINT
. Durante
la impresión se
visualizará el mensaje Print... .
Para cortar la etiqueta
El botón de corte está en la parte derecha de la
máquina. Para cortar una etiqueta presione la cuchilla
hacia delante (Fig. E). La parte de atrás de la etiqueta
tiene un corte en el medio para facilitar su retirada.
