Pairing Your Plant
Monitor
Turn on your plant monitor by pressing/squeezing the device
with your thumb(s) placed on the circle on top of the logo.
1.
There is a button behind the housing that you will need to make
contact with.
You will know the device is on, when you see a flashing orange
light indicating that it is in pairing mode.
If you do not see a flashing orange light, you may not have correctly
turned the device on, or will need to charge the device for at least 1-
2 hours.

2. Open the EarthOne Grow application on your smartphone and
create an account if you have not already.
3. On the home page of the application, Tap on the "+" icon in the
bottom centre of the screen and select "Device."
4. Click on the "Scan/Bluetooth" button. At this time please ensure
your Plant Monitor is showing a flashing orange light. If not, please
turn on your device or charge it if needed.
5. The application will find your device and its serial number.
If your device is not found, please turn off your device and turn it
on once more. Then try the scanning process from the start.
4

The application should automatically populate the WiFi SSID that
your smartphone is connected to. If it doesn't or you are
connecting your plant monitor to a different router, please enter
your SSID manually with case sensitivity in mind.
6. Once you see a device and a serial number, click on connect. This
will prompt you to enter your WiFi SSID and Password.
7. If you enter your SSID and Password correctly, you will receive a
success message on the app and see the orange light on the device
cease to flash.
At this time the orange light may be a solid orange signifying that it
is looking for an update. The light will automatically turn off after
updating, signaling that it is in data collection mode.
8. After this point, your device is successfully paired to your app.
From here you will be prompted to link your device to a plant.
If you do not have a plant added already, please click "Link Later"
and add a plant using the "+" icon. Once you have added a plant,
find your device in the "Available Devices" section and "Link" your
device to your plant.
You may also place the Device in the soil of the specified plant at
this point in time.
5

The device does not show a solid light in its "ON" state. The light will
turn on briefly when sending a data packet to the cloud and turn off
when going back to deep sleep. This is an intended function to save
battery.
Understanding The Plant
Monitor LED
A Flashing Orange Light means your device is in pairing mode and
will need to be connected to the application once more. Simply
follow the pairing instructions as you have done previously.
You can also re-enter pairing mode by resetting your device.
If your device turns itself off due to a timeout when the internet
connection is interrupted or if the battery has died, the EarthOne
Grow application will notify you.
You will know your device is turned back on when you press the ON
button if you see the Orange Light come on briefly and turn off
signifying that a data packet has been sent.
Or if you see a Flashing Orange Light.

Resetting Your Plant
Monitor
You may need to reset your plant device when switching to another WiFi
network, or for another reason. Resetting your Plant Monitor will erase
current WiFi credentials.
To reset your Plant Monitor:
1.Turn Off the Device by Pressing/Squeezing the Button on the Housing.
There is no way to tell if your device is turned off because there is no LED
to indicate that. You will only know it was turned off successfully, if the
light comes on briefly the next time you turn on the device.
2. Turn on the device and quickly turn it off as soon as the Orange LED comes on.
3. Repeat this for a total of 5 times, or until you see a Flashing Orange Light
on the next button press to turn ON the device.
Once the Orange Light is flashing, you have successfully reset your device
and are in pairing mode once again.

Finding Your Plant
Monitor Serial Number
8
If you have multiple plant monitors, you may lose track of which is
which.
1.In order to see what device corresponds to what serial number,
please reset the device in question following the "Resetting your
Plant Monitor" instructions.
2. Once reset, follow the instructions from "Pairing Your Plant
Monitor." In this part of the process during the scan, your device
will appear on the mobile application along with its serial number.
3. From here, you can connect the device to your network as you
normally would.
4. You will NOT need to link your device again if it was already linked
to a device prior to resetting. It will automatically resume collecting
data for the plant it was previously linked to.

9
Linking/Unlinking &
Transferring Plants
To get the most value out of EarthOne Plant Monitors, it is strongly
recommended to use one plant monitor per plant.
In order to collect plant health metrics for a specific plant, you must
link the Plant Monitor to the plant.
1.To do this, simply click on your device in the "Devices" section in
your application and click on the "Link Device" button.
2. Click on the plant you would like to link the device to and follow
the on screen instructions. If you do not have any plants, please click
the "+" button in the app, click on "Plant" and follow the on screen
instructions before proceeding to link your device.
*Remember you can reset your device and re-pair it to the app to find
its serial number*
3. If you need to transfer your device to another plant or set it up
under another user account, you must first unlink the device from its
previous plant.
4. To unlink, find your device in the "Devices" section, click on it, and
press the "Unlink Device" button.
5. The device can now be linked to another plant in your application
following the above steps.

Charging & Battery
1.Your monitor will be charged through the USB-C port on the side of the
device.
2. When plugged in a RED LED will turn on, and when fully charged the LED
will turn GREEN. This process usually takes 4 hours.
3. Battery life after a full charge is approximately 45 days, but this can
change based on the polling rate. The lesser the frequency of the polling
rate, the longer the battery life and vice versa.
Compatible Charging Adapters
Due to certification costs, EarthOne has opted out of providing charging
adapters for this first version of the Plant Monitor.
EarthOne Plant Monitors can be charged using standard 5W Power Adapters
(5V, 1A) or from USB ports on computers.
EarthOne Plant Monitors will not work with Fast Charging or High Wattage
Power Adapters.
You will know that this is the case if a RED/GREEN LED does not come on when
connected to a charging cube. If this is the case, please find a compatible
Power Adapter with similar specifications mentioned above.
