TheMARCUSRETRO01isdesignedtofitdirectlyintoMarcus4signaturebasseswithout
modification.Itshighqualitycircuitusesthreestackedknobsandincludesanactiveblend
circuitplusa3bandequaliserwithbass,variablefrequencymid,trebleandbrightfunction.
Theactiveblendcircuitpreventsthelossassociatedwithmanypassivebasseswhere,when
bothpickupsareupfull,thesignalfromonepickupfeedsintotheotherandviceversa.
However,aswitchisincludedtoallowapassiveequalmixofbothpickups.Asecondswitch-
basic"get-you-out-of-trouble"passivemodeisincludedincasethebatterydiesincrucial
circumstances,butthismodeallowslotsofusefulsettingstoo.

TheupperknobistheVolume.Thisknobhasactivecircuitryafteritsothatthefeedtoyouramplifierisa
lowimpedancedrive.
ThelowerouterknobistheBlendbalanceforthepickups.Turnitfullyclockwisefortheneckpickupalone
andfullyanti-clockwiseforthebridgepickup.Themidwayposition,whichhasanindent,givesanequal
mixofbothpickups.Thebalancebetweenthepickupsiscontinuouslyvariablewithprogressivelevel
compensationtowardsthesinglepickupsettings.
Theswitch(bytheblend)mustbesetpointingtowardsthejackfortheBlendto
function.(See&diagramsfordetailsofhowthisswitchworks)
TheupperknobistheTreblecontrolwithboostandcut.Thecentral'flat'positionisindented.Thecut
settingsworkonlowerfrequenciescomparedtoboosttogiveadeepersoundwhenthetopisrolledoff.
PulltheTrebleknobfortheBrightsetting.
ThelowerouterknobistheboostonlyBasscontrol.Thefrequencybandofboostgetsprogressively
lowerastheboostisincreased.Anindentmidwayisincludedtoaidthesettingofthiscontrol.
TheupperknobcontrolstheamountofMidboostorcutatfrequenciesaccordingtothesettingofthe
Frequencyknob.Themidwayindentisthe'flat'position.
ThelowerouterknobiscontinuouslyvariableandsetstheMidfrequenciesforboostorcut.
