GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
This multimeter has been designed according to IEC1010 standards for
electronic measuring instruments with an over-voltage category (CAT II 1000V,
CAT III 600V) and pollution level 2.
To get the best service from this instrument, read carefully this user manual and
respect the detailed safety precautions.
1.1. Precautionary safety measures
Preliminary
• When using this multimeter, the user must observe all normal safety rules
concerning:
- Protection against the dangers of electric current.
- Protection of the multimeter against misuse.
• For your own safety, only use the test probes supplied with the instrument.
Before use, check the probes are in good condition.
During use
• If the meter is used near noise generating equipment, be aware that the
display may become unstable or indicate large errors.
• DO NOT use the meter or test leads if they look damaged.
• Use the meter only as specified in this manual; otherwise, the protection
provided by the meter may be impaired.
• USE EXTREME CAUTION when working around bare conductors or bus bars.
• DO NOT operate the meter around explosive gas, vapour, or dust.
• BEFORE EACH MEASUREMENT make sure the main function dial is at the
correct position.
• When the range of the value to be measured is unknown, check that the range
initially set on the multimeter is at the correct test position.
• To avoid damage to the instrument, DO NOT exceed the maximum limits of the
input values.

3
Auto Range Digital Multimeter - 1000V DC/750V AC
• CAUTION when working with voltages above 60V DC or 30V AC RMS. Such
voltages pose a shock hazard.
• When using the probes, keep your fingers behind the finger guards.
•
Before changing functions, disconnect the test leads from the circuit under
test.
• Disconnect circuits power & discharge all high-voltage capacitors before
testing resistance, continuity or diode.
• Before measuring current, turn power off to the circuit before connecting the
meter to the circuit.
• Change the battery when the symbol appears to avoid incorrect data.
1.2. Symbols
Symbols used in this manual and on the instrument:
CAUTION: Refer to the instruction manual. Incorrect use may result
in damage to the device or its components.
Earth.
This instrument has double insulation.
Fuse: F 500mA/250V.
1.3 Instructions
• Before opening up the multimeter, always turn OFF the device, disconnect
from all sources of electric current and make sure you are not charged with
static electricity, which may destroy internal components.
• Any adjustment, maintenance or repair work carried out on the meter should
only be carried out by a qualified person.
• If any faults or abnormalities are observed, take the instrument out of service
and ensure that it is NOT USED until it has been checked and/or re-calibrated
by a qualified person.
• If the meter is not going to be used for a long time, take out the battery and do
not store the meter in high temperature or high humidity environment.
• For continuous protection against fire, replace fuse only with the specified
voltage and current rating: F500mA/250V.
• NEVER use the meter unless the back cover and battery cover are in place and
fastened fully.

Cleaning the multimeter:
• Wipe the case with a soft damp (not wet) cloth and mild detergent.
• DO NOT use abrasives or solvents.
• Dirt or moisture in the terminals can affect readings.
• Cleaning the terminals:
• Turn the meter off and remove all test leads.
• Shake out any dirt that may have gathered in the terminals.
• Soak a clean swab or cotton bud with a cleaning and oiling agent (such as WD-40).
• Work the swab/bud around in each terminal until you are happy there are clean.
The oiling agent insulates the terminals from moisture-related contamination.

Battery Replacement
When the battery voltage drops below a usable operation range the symbol will
appear on the LCD display, this indicates that the battery will need replacing. To do
this follow these steps.
• Set the meter to ‘OOFFFF’ state.
• Disconnect test leads from any input terminals.
• Use the appropriate screwdriver to unscrew the secured back cover. This will
expose the batteries.
• Replace the battery with 3 new 1.5V batteries (AAA).
• Replace the battery cover and screw securely back into place.
• The multimeter should new be fully functional.

14
Fuse Replacement
• Set the meter to 'OFF' state.
• Disconnect test leads from any inputs terminals.
• Use the appropriate screwdriver to unscrew the secured back cover and then
the battery cover.
• Replace the fuse only with a 500mA/250V 5 20.
• Replace the 2 back covers and screw securely back into place.
• The multimeter should now be fully functional.
