mSATA connector and mount the other end using the provided two small screws.

Finallyputthetopflapoftheenclosure,aligntheflappowerbuttonstraightontopofthe
switch/buttonontheadd-onboardandpresstheflap–youllhearclinksoundsandmake
sureit’sclosedproperly(Makesurealltheitemsareconnectedproperlyandfastened
properly – no loose connectorsor screws).
10. ConnecttheprovidedUSBadapterexternally(TypeAtomicro USB)totheRaspberryPi
USB
portan micro USBportmarkedwithsymbol( ).
11. (Optional – Onlyif you wantto use USB Flash Drive for booting & storage) –Insertthe USB
flash drive into oneof the Raspberry Pi USB port.
12. Now you are readyto power your Pi Desktop.

terminal and running:sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
Starting your Pi Desktop:
1. Connectyour RaspberryPiDesktoptoanHDMImonitorusing HDMI cable.
2. ConnectaUSBkeyboardand amousetothe PiDesktopUSBports.

Installthepackageand clone theuSD into SSDorUSBdrive by using
following commands: $sudo dpkg -ipidektop.deb

(Optional)ClonefilesystemfromRaspberryPimicro SDCardtoSSDorUSB

Inthisstep,youllbeaskedtoselecttheSSDorUSBdrive,selecttheconnected
SSD or USBdrive and click“Start”. Once completed,rebootyour system.
7. You are now ready to boot from your SSD or USB drive.

Removetheprotectivefilmfromthebottomoftheheatsinkandplaceitonthetopofthe
ProcessorontheRaspberryPi.

DownloadthelatestRasbianJessiewithPIXELimagefromthebelowlinkandwritetothe
microSD card using preferred image writer (recommended tool -
Win32DiskImager). https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/
3. (Optional) - Connectthe Pi Camera into the cameraport on the RaspberryPi.
4. Mount the Raspberry Pi into the enclosure using the four long spacers. Please make sure the
Raspberry Pi orientation is correct asper the connectors on the Raspberry Pi and the slots on
theenclosure.

Nowplacethecameraintothecameraslotintheenclosure–(onlyifyouhaveacamera)

Installthebuttoncellonthebackoftheadd-onboard.

Mounttheadd-onboardontothetopoftheRaspberryPi40pinGPIOandfastentheboardto

power port marked with PWRand turn the supply ON.

NowpressthepowerbuttononthePiDesktop()andwaitforthesystem
to boot.
5. You are nowreadyto use the Pi Desktop.
6. Extra Steps(Optional)–Only ifyou areusingSSD drive or USBflashdrive
andwantthePiDesktoptobootfromSSDorUSBdriveinsteadof
microSD
card follow the below instructions.

Connectto the internet usingEthernet or WiFi network.
b.
Open your browserand goto the www.element14.com/PiDesktop,
under download section download a package name “pidesktop.deb”.
c.
Now open the Terminal windowand go to the directory you downloaded
