AIRCRAFT – SERVICING
1. General
A. Clean the external aircraft surfaces frequently to keep them with their good visual properties and
resistant to corrosion.
B. Always clean the aircraft external surfaces from the top to the bottom.
C. The aircraft external dirt can be light (dust, mud, oil, etc.) or heavy (grease, exhaust deposits,
etc).
D. For the windshield cleaning procedures, refer to TASK 56-10-01-100-801-A.
E. For the window cleaning procedures, refer to TASK 56-20-01-100-801-A.
F. The procedures in this section are given in the sequence below.

A. General

HANDLING BIRD REMAINS.
•THE RUBBER OR LATEX GLOVES MUST BE DISPOSED AFTER USED.

•THE SOLVENTS AND CLEANERS CONTAIN POISONOUS AGENTS. WEAR

I. Preparation
SUBTASK 12-22-00-841-001-A00
(1) Obey the procedures given in TASK 10-10-01-500-801-A for normal parking.
(2) Make sure that landing gear safety pins are installed (TASK 32-00-01-910-801-A).
(3) Install the covers of the pitot, ice detector, engine air intake/exhaust, TAT sensors, APU air
inlet, APU exhaust duct, and anemometric static port.
(4) Seal the inlets and outlets of the refrigeration pack compartments (AMM 21-50-00/1) with
polyethylene film and adhesive tape.
(5) Seal the forward electronic compartment air exhaustion grilles (AMM 21-26-00/1) with
polyethylene film and adhesive tape.
(6) Seal the AOA vanes and their attachment bases on the fuselage (AMM 27-36-00/1) with
polyethylene film and adhesive tape.
(7) Make sure that the main door (AMM 52-10-00/1) and the cargo door (AMM 52-30-00/1) are
closed.
(8) Seal panel 312AR (AMM 06-42-00/101) with adhesive tape.
J. Light Dirt Removal (Figure 301)
SUBTASK 12-22-00-610-001-A00
(1) To clean the aircraft, using the wet wash procedure do as follows:
CAUTION: DO NOT DRY-CLEAN DUST FROM PAINTING OR ACRYLIC PARTS (PAS-
SENGER WINDOWS, WING-TO-FUSELAGE FAIRING, WING LIGHTS,
ETC.) NOT TO CAUSE SCRATCHES TO THEM.
(a) Prepare the cleaning solution in a dilution ratio of 10% in volume of detergent to one
liter of water.
CAUTION: DO NOTAPPLY SOLUTION IN LARGEAREAS WHICH CANNOT BE FULLY
CLEANED BEFORE THE SOLUTION DRIES ON THE SURFACE. STAINS
CAN OCCUR, IF THE SOLUTION DRIES ON THE SURFACE.
(b) Apply the cleaning solution with a spray gun or a soft-bristle sweeping brush or
equivalent equipment.
(c) Let the cleaning solution soak into the surface for a sufficient time for the dirt to
become soft (about 5 minutes).

CAUTION: •DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE (MAXIMUM 70 PSI) AND DO NOT
POINT THE FLOW OF WATER DIRECTLY TO THE ANGLE-OF-ATTACK
SENSORS (AOA) (AMM 27-36-00/1) OR OTHER MECHANICAL, ELEC-
TRICAL OR HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS. LIQUIDS THAT GET INTO
THESE AREAS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE.
•KEEP THE NOZZLE OF THE SPRAY EQUIPMENT MORE THAN 304
mm (12 in) AWAY FROM THE SURFACE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE
SPRAY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE.
(d) Fully flush with clean water, three or more times. Finally flush the surface from its top
down to the bottom. Make sure that the solution is fully removed.
NOTE: If necessary, apply solution again and rub with a soft-bristle sweeping brush,
a rag, or a soft-bristle brush to help you remove the dirt.
(e) Dry with forced air or dry rags.
(2) To clean the aircraft, using the dry wash procedure do as follows:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE DRY-CLEANING PROCEDURE TO CLEAN TRANSPAR-
ENCY SURFACES (ACRYLIC OR POLYCARBONATE), OTHERWISE DAM-
AGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: PUT ON GLOVES AND GOGGLES TO PREVENT INJURY TO YOUR SKIN
AND EYES.
CAUTION: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU PREPARE
AND APPLY CLEANING AND DISINFECTANT SOLUTIONS. IF THESE
PRODUCTS ARE STRONGER THAN THE ONES SPECIFIED, THEY CAN
CAUSE DAMAGE THE DECORATIVE SURFACES.
(a) Apply the NUPOWER II using a Cotton flannel cloth to small areas at a time.
NOTE: Apply wet material to the area equally.
(b) Let it dry fully.
NOTE: Wait no more than 5-10 min even in the highest humidity conditions.
(c) Wipe the surface with a clean Cotton flannel cloth to remove the material.

K. Follow-on
SUBTASK 12-22-00-842-001-A00
(1) Open the inlets and outlets of the refrigeration pack compartments sealed before (AMM
21-50-00/1).
(2) Open the forward electronic compartment air-exhaustion grilles sealed before (AMM
21-26-00/1).
(3) Remove the adhesive tape and the polyethylene film from the AOA vanes and from their
attachment bases on the fuselage (AMM 27-36-00/1).
(4) Clean the windshield (TASK 56-10-01-100-801-A).
(5) Clean the windows (TASK 56-20-01-100-801-A).
(6) Remove the adhesive tape from panel 312AR (AMM 06-42-00/101).
(7) Remove the pitot covers, ice detector covers, nose cowl covers, exhaust covers, TAT
covers, APU AIR INLET cover, and exhaust port cover.

(3) Seal the inlets and outlets of the refrigeration pack compartments (AMM 21-50-00/1) with
polyethylene film and adhesive tape.

polyethylene film and adhesive tape.
(5) Seal the AOA vanes and their attachment bases on the fuselage (AMM 27-36-00/1) with
polyethylene film and adhesive tape.
(6) Make sure that the main door (AMM 52-10-00/1) and the cargo door (AMM 52-30-00/1) are
closed.
(7) Seal panel 312AR (AMM 06-42-00/101) with adhesive tape.
J. Heavy Dirt Removal (Figure 301)
SUBTASK 12-22-00-610-002-A00
(1) To clean the aircraft, using the wet wash procedure do as follows:
(a) Prepare the cleaning solution in a dilution ratio of 20% in volume of detergent to one
liter of water.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY IN LARGE AREAS WHICH CANNOT BE FULLY CLEANED
BEFORE THE SOLUTION DRIES ON THE SURFACE. STAINS CAN OC-
CUR, IF THE SOLUTION DRIES ON THE SURFACE.
(b) Apply solution to the heavily dirty areas with a soft-bristle sweeping brush or cloth.
(c) Let the cleaning solution soak for approximately 5 minutes.
CAUTION: •DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE (MAXIMUM 70 PSI) AND DO NOT
POINT THE FLOW OF WATER DIRECTLY TO THE ANGLE-OF-ATTACK
SENSORS (AOA) (AMM 27-36-00/1) OR OTHER MECHANICAL, ELEC-
TRICAL OR HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS. LIQUIDS THAT GET INTO
THESE AREAS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE.
•KEEP THE NOZZLE OF THE SPRAY EQUIPMENT MORE THAN 304
mm (12 in) AWAY FROM THE SURFACE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE
SPRAY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE.
(d) Fully flush with clean water. Make sure that the solution is fully removed.

(e) If necessary, apply solution again and rub.
CAUTION: •DO NOT LET SOLVENT MIL-PRF-680 TOUCH DOOR SEALS, LANDING
LIGHT LENS, POLYCARBONATE, WINDOWS, WINDSHIELD, AND
ACRYLIC PARTS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THEM.
•FOR CLEANING OF THE LANDING LIGHT LENS, USE SOFT CLOTH
MOISTENED WITH ISOPROPYLIC ALCOHOL ONLY.
(f) The heavy dirt can also be removed with solvent MIL-PRF-680. For this, continue as
follows:
1Soak a cloth in solvent MIL-PRF-680 and rub the dirty area to make the dirt soft.
2Then remove the dirt with a dry cloth before solvent MIL-PRF-680 dries.
(2) To clean the aircraft, using the dry wash procedure do as follows:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE DRY-CLEANING PROCEDURE TO CLEAN TRANSPAR-
ENCY SURFACES (ACRYLIC OR POLYCARBONATE), OTHERWISE DAM-
AGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: PUT ON GLOVES AND GOGGLES TO PREVENT INJURY TO YOUR SKIN
AND EYES.
CAUTION: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU PREPARE

J. Clean Landing Gear Compartments (Figure 301)
SUBTASK 12-22-00-610-003-A00
(1) Prepare the cleaning solution. Refer to the instructions given by the cleaning product
suppliers.
(2) Apply the solution with spray gun, paint brush, or cloth.
CAUTION: •DO NOT USE HIGH PRESSURE (MAXIMUM 70 PSI) AND DO NOT POINT
THE FLOW OF WATER DIRECTLY TO THE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL OR
HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS. LIQUIDS THAT GET INTO THESEAREAS CAN
CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE.
•KEEP THE NOZZLE OF THE SPRAY EQUIPMENT MORE THAN 304 mm (12
in) AWAY FROM THE SURFACE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE SPRAY CAN
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE.
(3) Fully flush with clean water. Make sure that the solution is removed fully.
(4) Dry with forced air or dry rags.
(5) Lubricate the landing gear as shown in TASK 32-34-00-600-801-A.

SUBTASK 12-22-00-842-003-A00
(1) Remove the adhesive tape from the cargo door, main door, emergency hatches, and seals.
(2) Open the inlets and outlets of the refrigeration pack compartments sealed before (AMM
21-50-00/1).
(3) Open the forward electronic compartment air-exhaustion grilles sealed before (AMM
21-26-00/1).
(4) Remove the adhesive tape and the polyethylene film from the AOA vanes and from their
attachment bases on the fuselage (AMM 27-36-00/1).
