pick-up frommoving during shipment. Carefullyremovethiscardand closethe
CD compartmentdoor.
•Pleasesavethe carton and packing materialsinthe eventthatyourunitever
needstobe returned forservice.The originalcarton and packing materialsare
the onlywaytoprotectthe unitfromdamage during shipment.

AC Operation
Connectthe small end oftheACPowerCordtotheACsocketon the back cabinet,
then insertthe plug inanyconvenienthousehold120V60HzACoutlet.
Note:
ThisunithasapolarizedACplug withone wide blade and one narrowblade.This
plug will onlyfitintoamatching polarized ACoutlet. Thisisasafetyfeatureto
reducethe possibilityofelectricshock.If thisplug will notfitinyourACoutlet, you
probablyhavean outdated non-polarized outlet. You shouldhaveyouroutdated
outletchanged byaqualified,licensed electrician.Donotfilethe wide blade on the

BatteryOperation
1.)Removethe batterycompartmentdooron the back ofthe cabinetbypressing
downon the “ ”marks and slide ittoopen.
2.)Insert8“C”sizebatteriesintothe batterycompartmentaccording tothe polarity
diagramengraved inside the compartment. If the batteriesareinserted
incorrectlythe unitwill notwork.
3.)Replacethe batterycompartmentdoor.
Note:Inordertooperatethe uniton batterypowerthe ACcordmustbe
disconnected fromthe ACsocketon the back cabinet.

Listening To TheRadio
1.)Movethe FUNCTIONselectortothe RADIOposition.The POWERindicator
comes‘On’.
2.)Movethe BAND selectortothe desired band,AM,FMorFMST.
3.)Tune toyourdesired station withthe TUNINGcontrol.If you havesetthe BAND
selectortoFMST.and youtune toaFMStereostationthe FMST.LEDIndicator
will light.
Note:If you arelistening toaweakFMStereo station you can usuallyimprove
the reception bymoving the BAND selectorfromthe FMST.position tothe FM
position,howeverthe sound will nowbe mono.
4.)Setthe VOLUMEcontroltothe desired level.
5.)When you arefinished listening movethe FUNCTIONselectorback tothe
OFF-TAPE (PowerOff)position toshutthe power‘Off’and extend the battery
life.The POWERindicatorgoes‘Off’.
AntennaInformation
AM
The AMantenna isinside the cabinet.
If AMreception isunsatisfactorytry
rotating the entireunituntil you find the position
thatprovidesthe bestreception.
FM
ExtendandvarythedirectionoftheFMtelescopic
antenna tofind theposition thatprovidesthe best
reception.

Playing CompactDiscs
Note:AlthoughthisportableCDplayercan readCD-RandCD-RWdiscs,inaddition
tonormalCDs,the playabilityofCD-R/RWdiscs maybe affected bythe type of
softwarethatwasused tocreatethe discs,aswell asthe qualityand condition of
the blankmediayou areusing.100%playabilitycannotbe guaranteed.Thisisnot
an indication ofaproblemwiththe player.
NormalPlayback
1.)Movethe FUNCTIONselectortothe CD position.ThePOWERindicatorcomes
‘On’.
2.)Open the CD door by lifting the OPEN tab on the top panel. If you havenot
alreadyremoved the ‘dummy’transitcardfromthe CDplayer,pleaseremoveit
now.
3.)PlaceyourCDon the centerspindlewiththe printed labelside facing up.Close
the CD door.
The playerwill read the TableofContentsand the displaywill
showthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
If the disc isdamaged orup side down,displayshows“no”.

4.)Press the PLAY/PAUSE button tobeginplayback on Track
number“1”.The Play“dot”indicatorappearsinthe display.
•Toskiptohigherorlowernumbered tracks during playback press the FWD
orREV button repeatedlyuntil the desired track numberappearsinthe
display.Playback will beginon the selected track.
•Tosearchrapidlyforwardorbackwardduring playback tolocateaspecific
portion ofatrack,depress and holdthe FWDorREV button.
The playerwill searchrapidlyforwardorbackwardaslong asthe buttonsare
depressed.Normalspeed playback will resumewhen the buttonsarereleased.
•ToPausemomentarilyduring playback press the PLAY/PAUSE button
again.
The sound stopsand the “Track number”flashes,howeverthe
disc continuestospin.
TocancelPauseand resumenormalplayback press the PLAY/PAUSE
button oncemore.Normalplayback resumesand the “Track number”stops
flashing.
5.)Adjustthe VOLUMEcontrolasdesired.
6.)ToStop playback atanytimepress the STOPbutton.The disc stopsand the
displayagainshowsthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
Afterthe lasttrack hasplayed the disc stopsautomaticallyand the display
againshowsthe totalnumberoftracks on the disc.
7.)Open the CD door,removeyourdisc,and closethe CD dooragain.
8.)Movethe FUNCTIONselectortothe OFF-TAPE position toshutthe power
‘Off’.The POWERindicatorgoes‘Off’.
To StartPlayback FromASpecificTrack
Insertyourdisc inthe player,closethe door,and waituntil the displayshowsthe
totaltracks.
Press eitherthe orbuttonsuntil the desired track numberappearsinthe
display,then press the button tobeginplayback on thattrack.

RepeatPlayback
You can programthe playertorepeateitherasingletrack orall tracks on the disc
continuously.The Repeatfeaturecan be activated whilethe disc isplaying or
whilethe disc isstopped.
OneTrack Repeat
Press the REPEATbutton once.
The Repeat“dot”indicatorflashes.
Selectthe track you wishtorepeatwiththe orbuttonsand then press the
button.The selected track will be repeated continuously..
All Tracks Repeat
Press the REPEATbutton twice.
The Repeat“dot”indicatorremains‘On’.
Press the buttontobeginplayback.Theentirediscwillberepeated continuously..
TocancelRepeatplayback,press the REPEATbutton repeatedlyuntil the Repeat

ProgrammedPlayback
You can programup to20 tracks on adisc toplayback inanydesired order.You
mayalsoprogramaspecifictrack toplayseveraltimeswithinthe sameprogram.
Note:The playercannotbe programmed whileadisc isplaying.If adisc isplaying
press the STOPbutton tostop playback beforeyou beginthe programming
stepsbelow.
1.)Movethe FUNCTIONselectortoCD position,insertyourdisc inthe player,
closethe door,and waituntil the totaltrack numberappearsinthe display.
2.)Press the PROGRAMbutton once.
The “01.”Indicatorbeginsflashing inthe display.
3.)Usethe FWD.orREV.. buttonstoselectthefirsttrack tobe programmed.
Example:Track “8”.
4.)Press the PROGRAMbutton onceagaintoenterthe track “8”inprogram
memorynumber“01”.
Track number“8”disappearsand the programnumber
advancestoflashing “02.”,indicating thatyou maynowselect
atrack tobe entered inprogrammemorynumber“02”.
5.)Usethe orbuttonstoselectthe nexttrack tobe programmed.When
the desired track numberappearsinthe displaypress the PROGRAMbutton
againtoenterthattrack inthe programmemory.
6.)RepeatStep 5until you haveentered up to20 tracks inthe programmemory.
7.)Tobeginprogrammed playback press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
The LEDdisplaywill showthe firstprogrammed track and
playback will beginon thattrack.The “dot”Indicatorflashes.

Afterthe lastprogrammed track hasplayed the playerstopsbutthe programmed
tracks remaininthe memory.
The “dot”remainsflashing.
Toplaythe programmed tracks again,press the the PLAY/PAUSE button.
Tocancelthe programmed sequencefrommemory,press the STOPbutton at
Stop mode.
ProgramRepeatPlayback
You can usethe Programand Repeatfeaturestogethertocontinuouslyrepeata
programmed sequenceoftracks.
First, programthe desired tracks according toSteps1through 7on page 15.
When Programmed Playback beginspress the REPEATbutton twicetoactivate
theAll Tracks Repeatfeature.
The Repeat“dot”indicatorappearsinLEDdisplayand all the tracks
inyourprogrammed sequencewill be repeated continuously.
TocancelProgrammed RepeatPlayback press the STOPbutton atStop mode
until boththe “dot”indicatorsgo ‘Off’.

1.)Open the cassettedoorbypressing the STOP/EJECTkey..
2.)Placeapre-recorded cassettetape withthe exposed tape facing up and the full
reelon the rightside.
3.)Movethe FUNCTIONselectortothe OFF-TAPE position.
4.)Press the cassettePLAYkeytobeginplayback.
5.)Setthe VOLUMEcontrolasdesired.
6.)Toadvancethe tape rapidlypress the F.FWDkey.Tostop the tape before
itendspress the STOP/EJECTkey..
7.)Torewind the tape rapidlypress the REWIND key.Tostop the tape beforeit
endspress the STOP/EJECTkey..
8.)When the tape endstheAutomaticStop Systemreleasesthe PLAYkeyand
shutsoff the tape motor.You maythen open the cassettedoor,removeyour
tape,turnitoverand playthe otherside ifdesired.
9.)When you arefinished listening stop the tape,open the door,removethe tape
and closethe door.
If you areplaying atape and then switchtothe RADIOorCD function be sure
topress the STOP/EJECTkeytodisengage the tape mechanism.This
preventsexcess wearand tearon the mechanism.

IMPORTANT:
Always press the STOP/EJECTkeytoshutoff the tape motorbefore
opening the cassettedoortoremoveyourtape.The AutomaticStop System
doesnotfunction inthe F.FWDand REWIND modes.When the tapepe
endsinthe F.FWDand REWIND modesthe motorcontinuestorun.
You mustpress the STOP/EJECTkeytoshutoff the motorbeforeopening
the doortoremoveyourtape.
Making ATapeRecording
Thismodelallowsyou tomaketape recordingsdirectlyfromthe CD player,orthe
radio.
•Referto“Playing CompactDiscs”ifnecessarytooperatethe CD player.
•Referto“Listening To TheRadio”ifnecessarytotune inthe station you
wishtorecordfromradio.
1.)Press the STOP/EJECTkeytoopen the cassettedoor..
2.)Insertagood qualityblankcassettetape intothe slotson the cassettedoor
withthe open end facing up and the full reelon the right. Usenormaltape only.
Donotusetape identified as“CrO2”(Chrome)or“Metal”tape formulations.
Forbestresultsusetapesof60 minutes(C-60)orless.Donotuse90 minute
or120 minutetapesasthesethinnertapesaremorelikelytojaminthe
mechanism.
3.)Closethe cassettedoor.
4.)When you arereadytostartrecordingpress theRECORD key.The PLAYY
keywill alsoengage.The CD you areplaying,orradioprogramyou selected
will be recorded directlyon tothe tape.
5.)Press the PAUSE keyduring recording tostop the tape temporarilyand
avoidrecording unwanted materialsuchasradiocommercials.
6.)When you havefinished recording press the STOP/EJECTkeytostop
and removethe tape.

AutomaticRecording VolumeLevelControl
ThisunithasanAutomaticLevelControl(ALC)circuitwhichcontrolsthe recording
volumeleveland preventsoverloaded and distorted recordings.
The VOLUMEcontrolhasno effecton recording volumelevel.You maychange
the VOLUMEcontrolsetting during the recording oreven reducethe volumelevel
to“Minimum”.Thiswill noteffectthe levelofthe recording.
StereoHeadphoneJack
Connectasetofstereo headphones(notincluded)witha3.5mm miniplug tothe
PHONES jack (located atrightside cabinet)forprivatelistening withoutdisturbing
others.
Beforeputting on the headphonesreducethe VOLUMEcontroltoalowlevel,then
puttheheadphonesonandgraduallyincreasetheVOLUMEcontroltoacomfortable
listening level.
The builtinspeakersareautomaticallydisconnected when headphonesare
connected tothe PHONES jack.
