Instructions to Installer
1. Installer must leave instruction manual with owner after
installation.
2. Installermusthaveownerlloutandmailwarrantycardsupplied
withthestove.
3. Installershouldshowownerhowtostartandoperatethestove.
Thisdirect ventgas stoveheater isdesignedto operatewith all
combustion air being siphoned from the outside of the building
andallexhaustgasesexpelledtotheoutsideofthebuilding.The
informationcontainedinthismanualpertainstoallmodelsandgas
controlsystemsunlessotherwisenoted.
WARNING
This unit is not for use with solid fuels.
Notice:Duringinitialringofthisunit,itspaintwillbakeoutand
smokewilloccur.Topreventtriggeringofsmokealarms,ventilate
theroominwhichtheunitisinstalled.

Installation in Residential Garages
Gasutilizationequipmentinresidentialgaragesshallbeinstalled
sothatallburnersandburnerignitiondevicesarelocatednotless
than18"(457mm)abovetheoor.
Suchequipmentshallbelocated,orprotected,soitisnotsubject
tophysicaldamagebyamovingvehicle.
ThisstoveisdesigncertiedinaccordancewithAmericanNational
Standard/CSAStandardANSIZ.21-88/CSA2.33andbyUnderwriters
LaboratoriesasaDirectVentGasFireplaceHeaterandshallbe
installedaccordingtotheseinstructions.
Consultyourlocalbuildingcodeagency,priortoinstallation,toensure
compliancewithlocalcodes-includingpermitsandinspections.
Thestove,wheninstalledwithblower,mustbeelectricallygrounded
inaccordancewithlocalcodesor,inabsenceoflocalcodes,with
theNational Electric Code ANSI/NFPA70orCanadianElectriccode,
CSAC22.1,ifanexternalelectricalsourceisutilized.
Thesemodelsmaybeinstalledinabedroomorbed-sittingroom
intheU.S.A.andCanada.
Installationandreplacementofgaspiping,gasutilizationequipment
or accessories and repair and servicing of equipment shall be
performedonlybyaqualiedagency.Theterm“qualiedagency”
meansanyindividual,rm,corporationorcompanywhicheitherin
personorthrougharepresentativeisengagedinandisresponsiblefor
(a)theinstallationorreplacementofgaspipingor(b)theconnection,
installation,repairorservicingofequipment,whoisexperiencedin
suchwork,familiarwithallprecautionsrequiredandhascomplied
withalltherequirementsoftheauthorityhavingjurisdiction.
State of Massachusetts: Theinstallationmustbemade
byalicensedplumberorgastterintheCommonwealthof
Massachusetts.
Theinstallationmustconformwithlocalcodesor,intheabsenceof
localcodes,withtheNational Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1/NFPA
54* Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, or CSA B149.1 in

and company making the change.

High Altitude
Wheninstalling this unit at an elevation above2000feet(in the
UnitedStates)itmaybenecessarytodecreasetheinputratingby
changingthe existing burneroriceto a smallersize.Generally,
inputshouldbereduced4percentforeach1000feetabovesea
level.However,iftheheatingvalueofthegashasbeenreduced,
thisgeneralrulemaynotapply.Checkwithlocalgasutilityforproper
oricesizeidentication.
Canadian High Altitude
Altitude:0-4500feet(0-1370m)
Wheninstallingthisunitatanelevationabove4500feet(inCanada),
checkwithlocalauthorities.
Consultyourlocalgasutilityforassistanceindeterminingtheproper
oriceforlocation.
Preparation
Thisdirectventgasstoveanditscomponentsaretestedandsafe
wheninstalledinaccordancewiththisInstallationManual.Report
toyourdealeranypartsdamagedinshipment,specicallycheck
glasscondition.Donotinstallunitwithdamaged,incomplete,or
substitute parts. Read all instructions before starting installation
andfollowtheseinstructionscarefullyduringinstallationtoinsure
maximumbenetandsafety.Failuretofollowthemwillvoidyour
warrantyandmaypresentarehazard.
Thewarrantywill bevoidedby,and thewarranterdisclaimsany
responsibilityforthefollowingactions:
• Installationofanydamagedstoveorventsystemcomponent.
• Modicationofthestoveordirectventsystem.
• InstallationotherthanasinstructedbyEmpireComfortSystems,
Inc.
• Improperpositioningofthelogsorglassdoor.
• Installationand/oruseofanycomponentpartnotmanufactured
orapprovedbymanufacturer.
