E-MU 0204 - Install for Digitiser (Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7)
1) Start up the host PC.
2) Plug the USB cable supplied with the E-MU 0204 i to the USB co ector o the back of the E-MU 0204
audio i terface. (Stereo users: o ly co ect o e of the E-MU 0204 i terfaces at this time).
3) Plug the other e d of the cable i to a u used USB 2 port o your laptop/tower PC.
4) Tur o the E-MU 0204 audio i terface by rotati g the level co trol at the far right of the u it clockwise.
The power light o the u it should illumi ate. O the computer scree a fou d ew hardware wizard
should appear – click o ca cel to ca cel the wizard.
5) I sert the E-MU 0204 Software/Ma ual i stallatio CD-ROM CD/DVD drive from the E-MU I stallatio kit.
6) The software should i stall automatically, if it does ot, ope “My Computer” a d double click o the CD
item marked E-MU. User access co trol will ask whether you wa t to i stall the program. Click o allow.
7) Follow the o -scree i structio s – whe prompted to select i stallatio type, select Full I stallatio .
Whe i stallatio is complete, click 'fi ish' a d allow the computer to re-start. Stereo users co ect a d
tur o the seco d E-MU 0204 i terface (whe the reboot has completed), the drivers will i stall
automatically.
U B to erial Cable Installation
If your Laptop/Tower PC does ot have a serial (RS232) port you eed to use the RS232 to USB adaptor
(supplied). To i stall...
1) Start the host computer system a d i sert the CD marked 'Graff Digitiser 6.** CD-ROM' i to the CD/DVD
drive o your PC.
2) Browse to the CDROM folder D:\USB Serial Adapter\Wi dows\
3) Select the appropriate folder for your operati g system a d Double click o the ico
PL2303_Prolific_DriverI staller
4) Follow the o -scree i structio s to i stall the driver.
Plug i the USB to serial adaptor, Wi dows will apply the drivers automatically.
Check i the Wi dows device ma ager, u der ports (COM & LPT) you should see Prolific USB to serial COM port
(COM??) The COM port that is emulated by the USB to serial adaptor is displayed i the brackets.
Digitiser cable connection
Co ect the 15-way D type co ector to the rear co ector o the Digitiser.
Co ect the 9-way D type co ector to the RS232 to Serial adaptor 9-pi D type co ector.
Co ect the audio leads (jack plugs) to the co ectors o the rear of the E-MU 0204 as show above.
Note: On stereo Digitisers, connect the 'A L' and 'A R' cables to one of the sound cards only at this time.

Using The Digitiser/E-MU 0204
The E-MU 0204 may start up with the sample rate set to 48000
samples/seco d. Before the Digitiser ca be used, this must be set to
192.0kHz i the E-MU co trol pa el.
If you attempt to use the Digitiser with the sou d card set to the
wro g sample rate, the Digitiser software may show the message
“U defi ed Exter al Error”. If the error does ot occur, the audio will
be very poor quality a d lacki g high freque cies.
Stereo Digitiser Users:
Whe usi g a stereo Digitiser, e sure that both cards are set to
192kHz, the devices ca be selected as show .

pa el – Sou d, Click o the 'Recordi g' tab,
select the E-MU0204 Micropho e ico a d
click o 'Properties'.
I the properties wi dow, click o the
'Adva ced' tab. Select the default format as 2
Cha el, 24 bit, 192000Hz (Studio Quality)
Stereo Digitiser Users - e sure that both
sou d cards are set to this value.
Set Audio Level (Important)
I the Sou d card properties, set the level to 3
for Wi dows 7, a d 23 for Wi dows Vista.
This should give a sta dard li e level for the
Digitiser. It may be ecessary to adjust this
level co trol to compe sate for poor levels o
cassette.
The Audio i put level co trols o the fro t of
the E-MU 0204 USB i terface should always be
set to zero.
Please ote: It is ot ecessary for the Digitiser
sou d card to be the default.
