OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
TOP OF LOAD
1.Thread the proper number of heavy
duty
seals on bothstraps as shown
in
Figure
1. Contact your ENCORE
Representative
forrecommendation.
Bendlowerstrap
downward to hold
seals inplace.Bend
top strap
up
ward to
permit insertion in windlassof tensioner.
Withtensioning
handle all the way down
and locking the
gripper in open position,
adjust windlass
so that the slot is in line
with angle of top
st
rap.
2.
Insert lower strap inopening between
gripper andbaseof tensioner untilthe
strap isfully incontact with the inner
wall of the base.Make surethat the
Lower strap is inserted over the rear
base foot. Insert top strap fully into
windlass slot. Approximately 2 to 4 inches
should
extend beyond windlass
:
cut off
any
excessive length before tensioning.

Bring tensioning handle upward, allowing
the gripper to contact the lower strap.

Move tensioning handle up and down to
take upslack
in
strap. When strap is
snug, the operator should kneel
perpendicular to the strap as shown in
Figure 3 and apply the final tension.
When tensioning is complete, leave
the
tensioning
handle perpendicular to
the
base. See Figure 4.

WARNING!
While tensioning strap, do not rotate the
tensioning handle to the point where it will
contact the gripper release cam, see Figures
3 and 4. This
will
result ina loss of strap
tension. Care should be exercised when
applying final tension. Excessive tension can
cause strap breakage. The operator should
bepositioned in such a mannerthat strap
breakage or hands slipping off the handle
will
notcause aloss of balance.Never
increase the lengthof thetensioning handle
byany means such asslippinga pipe over
thehandleto extend its length.
