Care and Feeding ofEpifani Speaker Enclosures
Yourspeakersweredesigned tobe used inanyprofes-
sionalenvironment. Theyareextremelywell built and
can take almost anything you can dishout. Foralong
relationshipwithyourcabinetsjust rememberthe fol-
lowing basicrules:
1. They do notlike water! You reallyneed tokeep
the carpet, wood and speakersdry. The best protection
isacover.
2. Don’tseverelyunder-power thecabinets. More
speakersareblownbyunderpowering than byover
powering. Thisisdue tothe fact that when an amplifier
isexceeding itsabilitytodeliveraqualitywaveit will
put out squarewaves(bad distortion)and square
wavesripaspeaker.
3. Avoid dropping fromextreme heights. Don’t
makeusexplainthis!
4. Avoid loud transients. Turnoff ormutethe amp
beforeunplugging yourinstrument.
5. Avoid high frequency feedback. High output, ac-
tivebassescan emit high frequency feedback that will
takeout atweeterquickly. Becarefulwhen using ex-
cessivehigh end.
6. Always plug in thecabinetbefore turning on the
amplifier!
7. Protectyourears! Ourcabinetsarecapableofpro-
ducing ahigh decibeloutput. Without adequatelypro-
tecting yourearsyou run riskofpermanentlydamaging
yourhearing.
8. Never plug 2amplifiers into 1cabinet!
Some common Questions:
WhatisaSpeak On connector?
NeutrikSpeakOnconnectorsprovide the best power
transferand most stableconnection available. They
twist lock sothereisno riskofaccidentallydiscon-
necting the speaker. Theyalsohavemorecontact
area than a1/4”phono orabanana plug –morecon-
tact area, betterconnection. Alwaystry tousethe
SpeakOnconnection.
Werecommend using Speakon cablesthat utilizethe
NL2FCconnector. Minimumof14 gauge cableis
alsorecommended.
Whatisthedifference between a4and 8ohm
cabinet?
It will helptothinkofohmsintermsofRESISTANCE
topower. The MOREohms, the moreresistance
therewill be tothe POWERgoing fromthe ampto
the speakercabinet. Therefore, 4ohmswill be louder
than 8ohmssince4ohmsisproviding LESS resis-
tance.
Eachtimeyou linkcabinetstogetheryou DECREASE
the amount ofresistancebyHALF -two8ohmcabs
become4ohms, two4ohmcabsbecome2ohms.
Besuretocheck the POWERRATING on youram-
plifier, the MAXIMUMpowerrating shownisforthe
MINIMUMohmrating -an amprated 1000 watts@ 4
ohmswill be only500 wattsroughlythrough an 8
ohmspeakercabinet.
