You mustfollowthefollowing procedureexactly,otherwise you may
corruptthefirmwareupdateand seriouslydamageyour product.Neither
EPSONnoritsaffiliates willassumeanyresponsabilityfor anydamages
thatresultfrom aFirmwareupdate.Your use ofthisdocumentand any
relatedFirmwarefile(s)isatyour ownrisk.Anyresulting repairwillNOT
becoveredbyyour warranty.
Please notethatcarryingouttheupgradeshouldnotcauseloss of
storedfiles (images,movies or music)on your P-2000/P-4000.However,
itisrecommendedthatyou make afull backup ofanydatabeforeyou
proceed.
Introduction
You can check yourexistingfirmwareversion inthe bottomrightofthe
“Settings”menuofthe P-2000/P-4000.An updateisonlypossibletoa
firmwarewithahigherversion number. (seeimagebelow).
Thefollowingconditionsmustbemetbeforeyou canupdatethe firmware.
•Thebatterymustbe inserted intotheP-2000/P-4000 and shouldbe
fullycharged
•TheACAdaptermustbe plugged intothemainsand connected tothe
P-2000/P-4000
•ACompactFlash(CF)orSecureDigital(SD) memorycardwithasize
of128MBorgreatershouldbe availableandclearofdata

UpdateProcedure
Ifaproblemoccursduring theFirmwareUpdateprocess,youmaysee
theerror messge‘ResetUnit’ on screen. Ifthisoccurspleaserefertothe
‘Resetting’ section ofyour UserGuide.
Step 1
•Download thelatestfirmwarefilefromtheEpson website.
•‘Unzip’the filetoyourcomputerharddiskdriveusingaprogramsuch
asWinZip(http://www.winzip.com)forMicrosoftWindowsorStuffit
Expander(www.stuffit.com) forMacOS.
NB:To preservethecorrectfilestructureitisnotrecommendedtouse
thenativezipfilesupportinMicrosoft WindowsXPorMacOSX10.4.x
Tiger.
•Unzippingthe filewill createadirectorycalled “PSVFIRM1”(P-2000)or
“PSVFIRM2”(P-4000).Insidethisfolderyou will see
oadirectorycalled “DATA”

§PSVFIRM1.fnc(P-2000)orPSVFIRM2.fnc(P-4000)
NB:IfthesefilesarenotinthePSVFIRM1or PSVFIRM2directory,re-
downloadand unziptheupdate.
Step 2
•PlaceaCForSDcardwithacapacitygreaterthan128MBintoa
compatibleCardReaderconnectedtoyourcomputerandensurethat
the cardisempty.
•Copyoverthe PSVFIRM1foldertothe rootof the Memorycard.
NB:Make surethatthefolderisplacedintothetop levelofthememory
card and notintoanotherfolder,otherwise theP-2000/P-4000 will notbe
abletosee theupdatefiles)
Step 3
•Ensurethat thebatteryiscorrectlyinstalled inthe P-2000/P-4000.
•Ensurethat theACAdapterisplugged inthe mainsandconnected
totheP-2000/P-4000. The‘Charge’light shouldbeilluminated.
Step 4
•PlacetheCForSDcardcontainingthe upgradefileintothe
appropriateP-2000/P-4000cardslot.

•Holddownthe“OK”Buttonandturnpoweron keepingtheOK button
pushed inuntil the messge‘PleaseKeepACConnectorConnected’is
shown(seeimage below).Thiswill puttheP-2000/P-4000into
firmwareupdatemode
•You will see aprogress reportshowingyou the firmwareand resources
beingupdated (seebelowimage)
NB:–Donotunplug ACadapteror powerdowntheP-2000/P-4000 while
theupdateisinprogress.

Step 6
•Oncetheprocess iscompletedyou will see the message“Resources
Updated Successfully”andbe askedtoshutdownandrestarttheP-
2000(seebelowimage).RemovetheCForSDcardaftershutting
down.
•Afterrestarting,you maycheck the newfirmwarebygoingtothe
“Settings”screenandlookingatthebottomrighthandcorner.This
shouldconfirmthenewfirmwareversion.
