Your new leaf vacuum cleaner has been designed to guarantee high performance over a long period of time. The
ERCO brand name stands for outstanding workmanship, top quality and a long service life.
We hope that the ERCO leaf and waste vacuum cleaner will give you a lot of pleasure and relief at work.
A suction hose is also available for this device, which makes it easier to work under bushes, on stairs or other
placesthataredi󰀩culttoreach.
A wet collection bag is also available for work in humid weather or in wet conditions.
Under dry, very dusty conditions, the use of the dust collector (available on request) is recommended.
Your leaf and waste vacuum cleaner, a mobile suction device for waste and similar material with relatively low
density, powered by a petrol engine.
Aturbinegeneratesanairowthatconveysthematerialtobesuckedintoaporous,air-permeablecollectionbag
via a suction trunk or an optional suction hose. The suction material is partially crushed by the turbine.
The drive is provided by pushing the device (ES-610) or a single-stage gearbox (ES-620).
The device is guided by the steering bar; the front support wheels are designed as swivel wheels.

General
• Follow the instructions in this manual for safe handling
of the leaf and waste suction unit.
• A prerequisite for safe use of the device is compliance
with all safety instructions.
• The operator must have read and understood these
operating instructions carefully before starting any
work.
• Before driving and transporting on public roads, the
applicabletra󰀩cregulationsmustbeobserved.
• The general safety regulations and local accident
prevention regulations must also be observed.
• The work safety regulations must be observed.
The operator must have access to the operating in-
structions at all times.
Protective Equipment
During operation of the leaf and waste suction unit, the
operator must ensure that
• sturdy footwear,
• tight-ttingclothing,
• safety gloves,
• hearing protection and
• goggles
to carry it.
Please also observe the information under Safety in-
structions.
Safety Devices
Safety devices must not be removed or taken out of
service during operation of the leaf and waste suction
unit. The unit never be operated without a suction trunk
or collection bag.
Immediately repair any damage to the safety devices,
suction trunk or collection bag.
Behaviour in Case of Danger
• Stop walking right away,
• Stop the engine,
• Exit the device,
• Correct dangerous situation.

Safety
Use as directed
The machine is suitable as a leaf and waste suction unit.
Any other use beyond this is considered to be improper
and prohibited. The manufacturer is not liable for any
damage resulting from this; the user alone bears the
risk of such damage.
Intended use also includes compliance with the oper-
ating and maintenance conditions prescribed by the
manufacturer.
Possible Misuse
Do not absorb wires, cables or heavy stones. Damage to
the machine and/or injury caused by skidding may occur.
Do not push any objects with your foot under the suction
cup. (Danger of injury!)
Do not suck in any objects that could block the fan.
(Property damage!).
General Sources of Danger
Application and Operation
Before starting work, the unit, including all possible at-
tachments, must be checked for proper condition and
operational safety.
The operator must use the device as intended.
Operation in closed rooms is forbidden.
Operation of the device only by persons who have been
instructed in the use of the machine or have proven their
ability to operate it and are expressly instructed to use it.
When starting the engine, there must be no other per-
sons near the unit.
All protective devices must be properly installed and
functioning.
Never leave the machine unattended.
Whenleavingthemachine,switcho󰀨theengineand
secure the machine against unintentional movements.
The operator is responsible for accidents involving other
persons or their property.
Product-specic Hazards
Do not suck in ammable substances or hot objects
(e. g. ash, barbecue coal) (danger to life due to burns).
Danger from Engine Operation
Do not touch engine parts during operation and there-
after (risk of burning due to hot surfaces).
Before carrying out any work on the unit, as well as
cleaning,maintenanceandrepairwork,switcho󰀨the
engine and allow it to cool down (danger of burning due
to hot surfaces).
Before carrying out any work on the unit, shut it down
and remove the spark plug connector.
Donotrellpetrolwhentheengineisrunning(hazard
of life due to combustion and/or explosion).
Immediately wipe any spilled petrol with a cloth (danger
of death due to combustion and/or explosion).
Store petrol only in designated containers.
Exhaust gases are toxic and harmful to health, they must
not be inhaled.
Danger during Operation
Only gradients of up to 20% maximum may be used.
Particular care must be taken when driving across the
slope (danger of tipping over).
Dangers for children, elderly persons and animals
The operator must take into account the local conditions
and the impact of noise on persons and animals.
The unit must never be parked on a slope.
Children, elderly persons and animals must not be near
the equipment.
Children are not allowed to play with the machine.
Maintenance
Cleaning, repair and maintenance work as well as the
elimination of malfunctions may only be carried out
when the engine has been shut down.
If necessary, remove the spark plug connector.
The unit must not be cleaned with a water hose or
high-pressure washer; there is a risk of short circuits or
other damage.
Observe the safety check in accordance with the
locally applicable regulations for portable, commercially
used equipment.
Always carry out work on the unit using suitable tools.
Only use original spare parts from the manufacturer.
Personnel and User Qualication
Persons with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities
or lack of experience and/or knowledge are not allowed
to use the device unless a person responsible for their
safety supervises the operation or instruction.
Young people under 16 years of age are prohibited from
operating the device.
The responsiveness of the user must not be impaired, e.
g. by drugs, alcohol or medication.
The operator must have been instructed in the operation
of the unit.
The operator must be familiar with the instructions in the
operating instructions..

Owner‘s Responsibility
IMPORTANT: The following maintenance work is not
covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and is therefore
your own responsibility:
1. the device should be lubricated and adjusted regularly
depending on the frequency of use. Please read the
operating instructions for the motor.
2. In dusty environments, engine oil changes its consist-
ency. Please read the operating instructions for the
motor.
3. Make sure that all parts of the unit are in good con-
dition and correctly attached. Always repair damage
immediately. Replace worn and damaged parts. Al-
ways remove dust, grease, oil or dirt. Always tighten
allscrewsrmly.
4. The tyre pressure should be approx. 1.0 bar.
5. Adjust the height of the suction cup to the ground such
as tar, grass or foliage.
6. Clean and dry your ERCO leaf and waste vacuum
cleaner after each use.
7. Empty the collection bag frequently and regularly so
that the vacuum cleaner can always work optimally.
8.Inverydi󰀩cult(dustyandwet)operatingconditions,
the bag should be cleaned at shorter intervals (see
operating instructions).
9. Frequent motor maintenance is required under dusty
operatingconditions.Cleanorreplacetheairlterat
shorter, regular intervals in accordance with the engine
operating instructions.
10. If damp foliage and soil is sucked in with the leaf
vacuum cleaner, the turbine housing must also be
checked daily for dirt or even blockages. A strong
deterioration of the suction power indicates this error.
(see maintenance).
Attention:
Turno󰀨theengineandremovethespark
plug connector before carrying out main-
tenance or repairs to the vacuum cleaner.

Transport
The device must be put out of operation before transport.
During transport, the foliage and waste suction unit must
be secured against movement.
Use only tested equipment for loading and securing the
leaf and waste suction unit on or in vehicles.
Attention:
Always secure the device during trans-
port. Only use tested lashing devices.
Only use tested loading rails.
Risk of injury.

Assembly and initial start-up
This work must be carried out by a specialist dealer or
qualiedspecialist.
Mounted mudguard.
Loosen the 4 M10 screws while holding the guide rail.
Once you have loosened all screws, turn the handle-
bar 180° and reassemble it with the 4 screws. Use the
holes furthest away.
Tightenthescrewsrmly.
Loosen the two screws M8 to remove the mudguard,
it is mounted at the end of the assembly in such a way
that it points downwards and prevents engagement
with the gear unit.
Remove the foil and remove the small parts.

Handlebar mounted.
The handle is screwed in the middle of the guide rail
with the two M8 carriage bolts.
Fasten the clutch actuation to the left handle at the
same time with the two screws M8.
Make sure that the counter support is also seated in
the actuating shaft.

Completely mounted ejecting elbow.
The plastic ejection sheet is placed over the ejector
and fastened with 8 M8x20 screws.
First loosen the safety screw so that the adapter ring
has some space.
Aftercheckingtheoillevelandrellingfuel,theunitis
now ready for operation.
Now mount the intake nozzle, align it parallel to the
ground and tighten it hand-tight with the toggle screws.

Engine controls
Be sure to read the enclosed operating instructions for
the engine.
Choke
When the engine is cold, move the lever to the CLOSED
position. After starting, slowly push the choke lever back
to position RUN. If the engine is warm, leave the choke
lever in position RUN and start the engine.
Fuel Tap
Before starting the engine, open the fuel tap on the en-
gine(ONposition).Closeagainafterswitchingo󰀨(OFF
position).
Ignition Interruption Switch
The ignition interruption switch must be in position “An”
to start the engine.
Set the switch to the “Aus” position to stop the engine.
Operating Controls
Familiarize yourself with the operating elements of your leaf and waste suction machine.

Set the throttle lever for starting the engine to full throttle
position and additionally close the starter ap on the
engine at cold start (CHOKE).
The best suction power can only be achieved with maxi-
mum speed, therefore the throttle lever should be set to
full throttle position during operation.

Use the clutch lever to engage the drive of the machine.
Todothis,presstheleverontheguiderailtomoveo󰀨.
When you release the lever, the leaf and waste vacuum
cleaner stops.
Attention:
Never block the clutch lever in any way.
Risk of injury.
Important Information:
The driving speed must not be controlled by
the clutch lever. If the clutch lever is not pulled
through to the handle. the drive belt grinds
and therefore wears out very quickly.

Adjusting Spindle for Suction Trunk
Theadjustmentspindlefortheinnitelyvariableheight
adjustment of the suction trunk is located on the left
side of the unit.
Turn the spindle counter-clockwise to lower the suction
trunk. A suction trunk height of 7.5 cm is generally con-
sidered ideal for dry suction material. Place the suction
trunk lower in the appropriate position with wet or even
wet and rotten material. The lowest setting is reached
whentherubberapronreachestheoor.Itisnotadvis-
able to make a lower setting, as it does not improve the
suction power and can damage the suction trunk.
Too high setting reduces suction power.
Important:
Adjust the suction trunk as high as possible. Too low
a setting can cause damage to the suction trunk and
does not improve suction performance.
Adjusting spindle for suction trunk
Operating instructions
Before using your leaf and waste vacuum cleaner, make
sure that
• theunitisplacedonarm,levelsurface,
• the collecting bag is hooked in,
• the suction trunk is adjusted to the correct height,
• the fuel tank is full,
• the throttle lever is set to “STOP/MIN”.
Start the machine:
• Set the choke lever to “CLOSE”,
• Set the fuel tap to “ON”,
• Set the stop switch to “ON”,
• Pull the starter rope - engine running -,
• Set the choke lever to “OPEN”,
• Slowly set the throttle lever to “full throttle”.
Shutting down the machine
• Set the throttle lever to “STOP/MIN,
• Setthestopswitchto“O󰀨”,
• Set fuel tap to “OFF”.
In an Emergency Situation
• Remove drive (ES-620),
• Set the stop switch to “OFF”.
Warning:
Highlyammablesubstances(e.g.embers,
hot barbecue coal) can ignite when you hit a
hot surface.
Risk of injury due to light
ammable substances.
Installing the collecting bag
• Slide the opening of the bag over the ejection sheet.
Tighten the catching bag to the ejector channel with
the tension strap.
• There are 4 tabs on the top of the bag. These tabs are
pulled over the guide rail from the outside and attached
to the 4 brass coloured bolts.
Empty the collection bag
• Stop the engine before opening the collecting bag.
• Open the zipper or toggle fastener on the collecting
bag and remove sucked-in material. Wear protective
gloves.
• Close the zipper or toggle fastener on the catch bag.
DANGER:
Never operate the leaf and waste suction
unit without a collection bag.
Stop the engine before opening or remov-
ing the bag.
Risk of serious injuries.

Correct operation
In order to ensure a good suction performance, the fol-
lowingpointsmustbefullled:
• Su󰀩cientenginepower
• a powerful turbine
• adapted driving speed
• The correct height adjustment of the suction trunk
1. Your leaf and waste vacuum cleaner is equipped with
a very powerful Honda motor. Powerful 2,5 kW ensure
that there is always enough engine power available.
2. The proven design of the turbine ensures excellent
suction power. However, only a well-balanced and
undamaged turbine can deliver a decent performance.
3. The adjustment of the forward speed is controlled
by the running speed (ES-610) or the single-stage
gearbox (ES-620). This allows you to adjust the travel
speed in any situation so that you can achieve the
desiredsuctionpower.Thedi󰀨erentialgear(ES-620)
allows unlimited manoeuvrability.
4.Theinnitelyvariableheightadjustmentofthesuction
nozzle by means of the turning spindle determines
the suction power. The suction nozzle should only be
set so deep that a proper suction power is achieved.
Adjustment too low impedes manoeuvrability and
causes damage to the suction trunk, which does not
improve the suction performance. If the setting is too
high, there is a lack of suction power and the suction
power is unsatisfactory.
Dry leaf suction
Dry leaf is crushed by the turbine during suction. Adjust
the suction trunk only as close to the ground as is abso-
lutely necessary to ensure that the implement remains
manoeuvrable. Keep in mind that when used in dry terrain,
both the machine and the bag will hardly get dirty. This is
di󰀨erentwithdampleaf.Aftersuctioningo󰀨largerareas,
the bag must be washed.
Suction of wet leaves
Basically we recommend the wet collection bag. Due to
the larger pores, it remains permeable to air even after
prolonged work.
In wet leaf, the suction trunk must be guided as close to
the ground as possible. In order to achieve good suction
power, the driving speed should be adjusted (slows down)
accordingly.
Vacuum waste
For dry paper waste, etc., select a height adjustment as
required for beverage cans.
However, if paper waste is already soaked, a second
operation with low setting (see wet leaves) may be
necessary. As with leaf sucking, always ensure a clean,
air-permeable collection bag.
Note:
The bag should be washed out and dried after each
operation. Wash by hand or machine up to 40°C. Use
a little talcum to keep the zipper smoothly running after
every wash.
Warning:
Do not suck in glass or ceramic waste
such as bottles and shards.
Like other waste, bottles are broken up in the turbine.
Sharp-edged shards could penetrate the collecting bag.
Risk of injury from ejected debris or from handling
the waste.

Installing the suction hose (Accessory)
• Makesurethattheengineisswitchedo󰀨(setthestop
switch to “O󰀨”) and disconnect the spark plug con-
nector. Move the suction trunk to the highest position.
Remove the suction trunk from the unit by removing
thetwowingnutsandthebutteryscrewonthesafety
switch.
• Attachthemountingangeofthesuctiontrunktothe
turbine casing accordingly. Slide the suction hose onto
themountingangeandtightenthehoseclamp.
• Alwaysswitcho󰀨theengineandremovethespark
plug connector to change between the suction hose
and the suction trunk.
DANGER:
Never locate or bridge the safety switch on the
turbine housing.
Replace defective switch before putting it into
operation again. Never start or run the engine
without the suction trunk or suction hose.
Risk of serious injuries.
Clothes and limbs could be sucked in.
In case of contamination/clogging
To do this, remove the two outer wing nuts and unscrew
thebutteryscrewinthemiddle,onthesafetyswitch,
completely. Now remove the mounting collar for the
suction trunk and the suction trunk.
Loosen the dirt / blockage with a wooden stick or simi-
lar. Do not reach into the turbine housing with your bare
hands, always use gloves.
Once all coarse dirt has been removed and the turbine
can be turned freely again, reinstall the suction trunk and
let the unit run. It is now ready for use again.
Pay Attention:
Regular inspection and cleaning of the turbine housing
maintains the high suction power of the machine.

Maintenance
Clean the bag regularly, preferably daily.
Dry-Collector bag dry cleaning
• The dry collecting bag can be brushed or tapped. Allow
the unit to run in idle gas. Warning: Do not breathe
in the dust generated, protect yourself with suitable
respiratory protection.
Dry-Collector bag wet cleaning
• Leave the safety bag on the machine and start the
engine.Nowthebaginates.
• Open the zipper by approx. 15 cm.
• Now you can comfortably spray the bag from the inside
out with the lance of a high-pressure cleaner or with a
hose.
• If you allow the engine to run for a short time after
splashing the bag, it will dry quickly.
You can also clean the collection bag in a water bath or
have it cleaned in a commercial cleaning machine. Rub
the zipper with talcum after cleaning to ensure a perfect
function.
Engine
Refer to the maintenance instructions in the engine man-
ufacturer’s operating instructions.

Troubleshooting
If the engine does not start:
• Ignition interruption switch to position “ON”?
• Spark plug connector plugged in?
• The safety switch on the fan interrupts the ignition
current?
• Replace defective switches if necessary. Tighten the
butteryscrewand/orthewingnutssothatthemount-
ing collar of the suction trunk holds the switch pressed.
• Fueltanklledwithpetrol?
• Fuel tap at position ON?
Warning:
Waste that has clogged the unit may contain
sharp-edged glass or ceramic fragments and
metal parts. There may be sharp edges in
the unit.
Always wear protective gloves when working
on the turbine and removing blockages.
Risk of injury due to sharp edges.
DANGER:
Before carrying out any work on the unit, re-
move the ignition interruption switch to position
„O󰀨“andremovethesparkplugconnector.
Risk of serious injuries.
Heavy-duty zipper:
• Zippersti󰀨?
Clean the zipper with a strong brush and soap suds,
dry and treat with talcum.
Maintain the zipper regularly with talcum.
In case of insu󰀩cient suction power:
• Collecting bag full?
• Collecting bag dirty or clogged?
Clean or wash the collecting bag regularly.
• Suction trunk or suction hose blocked?
• Switcho󰀨theengineandwaitfortheenginetostop.
Only then remove suction trunk and remove material.
Wear protective gloves.
• Fan blocked, impeller blocked.
Switcho󰀨theengineandwaitfortheenginetostop.
Only then remove suction trunk and remove material.
For better accessibility, the turbine cover can also be
removed. Wear protective gloves.
