Document description
This document is the user manual of the ESA KVM mouse and video extender.
Here below the user can find the description of the device, the functionality, the ESA product codes
and installation sheet.
KVM EXTENDER
KVM is an acronym that stands for Keyboard, Video and Mouse.
A KVM extender is a device that let the user increase the distance between a PC based device and
the monitor.
The connection that can be reached with a video and USB cable is up to 5 meters long.
With the ESA KVM extender the distance can be increased up to 60 meters.

HARDWARE DESCRIPTION
The ESA KVM extender kit is made of two different components; the TRASMITTER and the RECEIVER.
ESAKVMSENDER000: transmitter unit
ESAKVMRECEIVER0: receiver unit
Transmitter unit
The transmitter unit has to be connected to the source PC with both the VIDEO and the USB cable.
The video signal and the touch screen can be remoted.
Connection between the
transmitter and the receiver
The connection between the transmitter and receiver unit is via two separate Ethernet cable.
The video signal and the USB signal are physically splitted in two different connection in order to
reach the best video quality.
Receiver unit
The receiver unit has to be connected to the remote monitor via the video and the USB cable.

Installation
Before installation
1. Define where the Transmitter and the Receiver unit will be located.
2. Use CATx ethernet cable (EIA/TIA 568B industry standard compliant) for the interconnection
between Transmitter and Receiver Unit.
3. Never disassemble or reassemble the enclosures for any purpose. This may cause personal
injury and/or property damage.
Transmitter Unit
1. Connect a video source to the video input port of the Local unit (Transmitter) using a male to
male video cable.
2. Connect a CATx cable from Transmitter (T1) to Receiver Unit (R1)
3. Connect a CATx cable from Transmitter (T1’) to Receiver Unit (R1’)
4. Use a mini-USB to USB-A cable to connect PC to Transmitter Unit
Receiver Unit
1. Connect a monitor to the video output port of the Receiver unit using a male to male video
cable.
2. Power on the unit
Note
The quality of the output signal will depend largely upon the quality of the video source, cable and
display device used.
Low quality cables degrade the output signal causing elevated noise levels.
Use the proper cable. (CAT5 Industrial grade cables).
