DS Series Double Sided Conversion Kit
1. On the front of the fire, remove the glass retaining bracket (shown below in grey) by unscrewing the 1/4 turn fasteners
located at the top of the glass. The DS1150, DS1400, and DS1650 will have 4 fasteners (shown below); the DS1900 will
have 6 1/4 turn fasteners. Remove the glass.
2. Remove the bottom trim (shaded in grey below). If necessary, insert a large slotted screwdriver into the lance forms and
twist.
3. Remove the infill screws: the DS1150 and DS1400 have four (shown below); the DS1650 and the DS1900 have eight.
Lift one end of the infill up into the top corner of the firebox and then out towards you, taking care not to scratch the
firebox paint and reflective panels. Remove the outer burners by sliding them away from the centre of the fireplace,
followed by the centre burner, which slides out to the left.
4. On the inside of the firebox, slightly loosen (do not remove) the firebox liner bracket (shaded in the diagram below) by
loosening—not removing—the screws (circled in the diagram below). The DS1150 and DS1400 have 3 screws (shown
below); the DS1650 will have 4 screws and the DS1900 will have 6 screws.

5. Carefully swing the lower edge of each firebox liner towards you and pull down to release each panel (shaded in the
diagram below). It may be necessary to slide the firebox liner to the side prior to swinging it out. Remove the firebox liner
bracket (loosened in step 4) and then replace the screws (loosened in step 4). Tighten the screws.
The rest of the instructions are performed on the rear of the fire.
6. For a DS1900, check if there are access holes on the gib board fixing bracket that allow access to the back panel screws.
If necessary, drill out the six rivets from the gib board fixing bracket (circled below).

Unscrew the four screws from the top of the gib board fixing bracket (circled below) and fold it towards you to allow access
to the back panel screws.

Remove the screws from the back panel (circled below) and remove the back panel of the appliance. Once the back panel is
removed, reattach the four screws from the gib board fixing bracket.

For a DS1150, DS1400, or DS1650 remove the screws (circled in the diagram below) in the back panel of the appliance
(DS1400 shown for reference). Remove the back panel.
7. On the back of the appliance remove one screw from each of the four tabs at the bottom of the chassis and set each
pair of tabs from ‘open position’ to ‘close position’ (shown on next page). Push the tabs together in pairs to move the
position of the air vent inside the fire. Be careful not to bend the tabs while pushing them in.

8. Remove the 6 screws in the chassis (circled below) and remove the side brackets (shaded below) by pulling them in
towards the centre of the fire.

9. Remove the bottom air deflector (shown shaded below). Inserted a large slotted screwdriver into the slot and twist it to
release the air deflector.

10. Unscrew the 1/4 turn fasteners. The DS1150, DS1400, and DS1650 will have 4 fasteners (circled below); the DS1900
will have 6 1/4 turn fasteners. Allow the panel to lean forward so you may lift the panel out.
11. Open the conversion kit to find the additional pieces required to finish the conversion. Fix the top trim in place with the
four (five in the DS1900) black machine screws provided. The screws are inserted from the inside of the fire, screwing into
the existing threads on the outside of the fire.
For the DS1150, DS1400, and DS1650, install the gib board fitting bracket; on the DS1900 this is already attached. The
back of the fire should now match the front.

12. Reinstall the burners and the infill by reversing the steps followed in step 3. Next, fit the two side trims. These are fixed
top and bottom with the low profile black self tapper screws (see below).
13. Install the fuelbed media as per the installation/user guide. Finish the conversion by installing both pieces of glass,
followed by both bottom trims, by reversing steps 1 and 2 of these instructions. There should be the original glass and the
original bottom gib trim, as well as the newly provided glass and bottom gib trim.
Optional Relocation of Diagnostic Bracket - Only carry out this step if needed
Relocate the diagnostic bracket to the opposite side of the appliance by carefully removing the middle screw
and feeding it through to the opposite side of the fire (as shown in the diagram below). Note: this step must be
completed after preparing the other side of the appliance for either a LH to RH conversion or a double sided
conversion.
